  1. Hey, back when I started in 2010 I had the exact same questions. It's really just lots and lots of practice though - there's no magic switch you can flip to suddenly have full control over the game In my opinion, the most important thing is to not only focus on EASHL but also play Versus once in a while. It's the best way to get a feel for how the game works.
  2. UPDATE 2: It looks like the issue where you were not able to choose any game modes is now resolved! UPDATE: EA just confirmed that the beta will be running until Monday, August 8, 10 AM PST which equals 19:00 CEST / 20:00 EEST. Hey NHL Gamers, there are some more good news to share with you: B-Bunny_, who is a long time mod at EA's forums, just confirmed via Reddit that the NHL 17 beta will be extended throughout the weekend! This is what he had to say: While the beta is currently closed (you can still open the application but not choose any of the game modes), it seems like it will be reopened and continue to be available until Sunday. We will update this post as soon as it is officially confirmed. On behalf of the NHL Gamer staff,
  3. Hey NHL Gamers, I am very pleased to announce that Electronic Arts invited us to visit their Games Village in the EA Business Center at Gamescom 2016 in Cologne, Germany! What this means is we will have access to EA's lounge in the Business Area at Gamescom, which is only accessible by qualified visitors and press, and will probably get a chance to talk to and maybe even interview producers / developers which are in charge of our beloved EA NHL series. To prepare for this exciting opportunity, we would like to get you on board and give you the chance to send in your questions to EA! How? Please use the below comment section to ask as many questions as you like. We will pick the best ones and fit them into an agenda. As it is our first time to participate at Gamescom, we do not know how it will turn out - it could be an interview, a live stream, or another news article! Am I allowed to ask questions about other EA titles as well? Yes, you are! According to our information, these titles will be present: Battlefield 1, Titanfall 2, FIFA 17, Madden NFL 17 and Star Wars Battlefront. However, please keep in mind, that our main focus will be on EA NHL and we might not be able to go into detail on other titles. I will be at Gamescom, too! Can we meet up? Most likely, yes. As it stands, I (@gzell60) will be attending Gamescom from August 17 to August 19. If you are interested in meeting up, please tell us in the comments (including preferred day/time!) so we can give you more information about meeting times soon! On behalf of the NHL Gamer staff,
  4. Hey NHL Gamers, We hope you are enjoying the NHL 17 Beta so far! Over the course of the last days we have been giving out dozens of codes for both PS4 and Xbox One. So many, in fact, that we hadn't had the time to jump into the game as much as we wanted to! We are very thankful for all the nice responses we received for getting you into the game, and we will of course continue to bring you lots of exciting stuff. The concept behind releasing a beta is of course to iron out any game breaking flaws, annoying bugs and get the community's thoughts on how we like the new features that are new to the franchise. This is accomplished by exposing the beta to as many of us hockey fans as possible. What we at NHLGamer.com want to do now is to get as much feedback from the community as possible and put together a list of the feedback to submit to the EA Sports NHL team in Vancouver. In this case, we don't want anyone to feel stuck behind a language barrier, so feel free to send in your feedback in English, Finnish, French, German or Swedish and we'll go ahead to translate all of your input and compile a list of all relevant issues and improvement ideas. Please use the comments below to voice your opinion and we will make sure you are being heard!

Remember: Pics or it didn't happen! I snatched a Tentacruel yesterday, it's my best Pokémon so far: What about everyone else?

    Draft recap & Teams

Hello everyone, I just came back from a late dinner after spending around 5 hours on Twitch with all of you. First of all I want to thank all of you who decided to tune in - we had around 140 viewers at one point, more than we have followers on our channel. People even accused us of viewbotting (a term that describes faking the number of views on your channel to make it seem like you are a famous streamer) multiple times, which made it quite clear that our community is really going strong, and that we as a whole are on to something pretty great. If you want to see all of it again, you can view the archived version of the stream here: https://secure.twitch.tv/nhlgamertwitch/v/77259439 When we started the Draft ECL / Summer Cup project 4 weeks ago (that's when I opened up the initial thread in our staff forum), I was not entirely convinced about this format. History taught us that summer time is usually a devastating time to play NHL, as the community slowly parts from the current edition and eagerly awaits a new iteration in September. I had a feeling though that this kind of tournament is exactly the kind of thing that works best during this time - giving you the ability to join the community, get to know new people and just have fun outside of the usual environment we are caught in for the first ~6 months with every new NHL game. After we opened up registrations on June 19th, the feedback was overwhelming. I expected no more than 50-60 registrations, but you actually doubled that number. A big shoutout to all of you pioneers out there, who decided to join us on this journey towards this completely new format within the European NHL community! I am also convinced that this will not be the last time we will pull off this kind of tournament, and I fully believe we can increase the number of registrations once again. Fast forward to when registrations were locked: The hardest part now was to set up the whole draft procedure. This is the point where I want to thank all of our captains, I think we could not have chosen them any better. All of them were very active after we initially contacted them, making it very easy to find a time where all of them would be able to participate. Just imagine if one or two decided to just not show up on draft day? Yikes, this could have endangered the tournament as a whole, due to the remaining time we have until NHL 17. On Friday, @Kenu and @Lurkins met each other somewhere in southern Finland and built the whole draft tool which you saw in action today. Even though there were a few hiccups during the stream, I really think they made it a pleasure for everyone: An easy-to-use website to make your picks, and a real-time site for everyone else to follow the action closely. And while I think that @Kenu and me are certainly not the most experienced streamers on this planet (yet), I hope we were able to entertain you during the 4-5 hours we spent together. Our newest staff member @The_Alpha_Furyan will go into detail about today's 1st round picks tomorrow, so definitely check out his news then! For now I want to leave you with the final team rosters (schedule etc. will follow tomorrow), and say one last thank you to every single member of this awesome community. It really is a pleasure to keep on building this whole project with all of you, I enjoy every single minute of it. Now please share your thoughts on today's draft in the comments below, especially: Do you want to have official streams more frequently? How did we perform on the moderation side? How did we perform on the technical side (stream setup/design etc.)? Please tell us, we are curious! - gzell60
  8. Hey NHL Gamers, we wanted to share another update on "Ask NHL" answers with you, as they are revealing quite a lot of interesting details about the upcoming NHL 17. Without further ado, here is our compact summary: General Original arenas will only be included for NHL teams (example: Orlando Solar Bears are playing in the Amway Center, FL which will not be reflected in the game) Create Team / Create Arena tools will allow you to use all customizations right from the start, unlocks are only needed for your EASHL team Arena customization allows you to tweak base architectural design (board trim colour, seat pattern layouts, colour schemes, railing colours, goal light types, center ice logo design, center line styles, stanchion styles, goal spotlight effects, scoreboard types, special effects during intros/goals, goal songs, powerplay songs and much more), in-arena presentation of music, special effects and lighting Commentary was extended with new player names, as well as team / city names Just like last year, the NHL 17 beta will be your only chance to get your hands on the game early, as a demo is not planned Player, team and arena customization will be included in the NHL 17 beta If you registered for the NHL 17 beta, you will receive your code once the beta is live - watch the social media channels for more information "Classic" teams were considered, but are hard to license due to the fact that there is not a single union for retired players Music in the menus as well as in-game was updated, more details will follow at a later date Unique playoff atmospheres (like the Winnipeg Whiteout) will now also show up during season play NHL 17 player ratings will be revelead closer to launch Shared rosters like in the Madden series will not be a part of NHL 17 Custom goalie masks cannot be created The new ECHL will be available in Play Now, Season Mode, HUT and Online VS (not part of Franchise Mode or Be a Pro) Gameplay New during-the-game animations were only added for goalies - skater animations will stay the same. Camera relative controls for goalies will not make it into NHL 17, instead they tweaked the controls differently which will be tested during the beta A new camera for goalies will be available at launch (see screenshot below) On top of the new blocking mechanic (instead of reactionary saves), goalie precision movements have been updated so you can adjust your speed by pushing the left stick differently Goalies can now also quit out of animations (e.g. if you want to drop down to butterfly before fully standing up) Sticks will still be able to go through the boards as EA were not able to adjust this without limiting player movements - however they made improvements so poke checks are able to connect in these situations Stick-on-stick and stick-to-body collisions were improved to better determine if the puck should come free, but it still does not run full physics reactions due to the limitations a player currently has when moving his stick around Sliders for offline modes were overhauled and allow you to customize your game experience even deeper (e.g. for hitting, you can tweak impact relative speed, checking/balance ratings of the players involved, relative size of the players, stumble thresholds and how much incidental contact affects players) Pauses for all online game modes have been reduced to 1 per team, which remains 30 seconds long New powerplay formations (like 1-3-1) were not added to the game Offensive and defensive AI were tweaked to better stick to their opponents, recognize a threat from passing options and be more intelligent when moving the puck around Game Modes HUT: "Unowned items" view in the collection makes it easy to see which players you are missing, and allows you to search for them in the auction house immediately HUT: Details about returning user rewards will be revelead at a later point HUT: Coaches are the same as in NHL 16, though this time they do not contribute to your stats but your Synergy HUT: Preorder packs can be sold in the auction house HUT: Auction house functionality will remain the same as in NHL 16 Draft Champions: Can be played offline or online (head to head, play a friend will not be available), hinted to be equal to FUT Draft which was introduced to FIFA 16 for the first time Draft Champions: To start off, you pick one of 4 available themes (e.g. European heritage, Canadian heritage) which will determine your starting roster - the player pools will be updated with new content on a weekly basis (TOTW, special items...) Draft Champions: Winning games allows you to unlock content for HUT, such as packs and unique players EASHL: Height & weight remain locked and can only be changed by selecting a different player build EASHL: Any game started with two human goalies needs to be finished with two - having your goalie drop out will end the game with a loss EASHL: Third jerseys can be used, but need to be unlocked first EASHL Drop-in: Dropped goalies will be replaced with much smaller and weaker bot goalies EASHL Drop-in: The coach may boot you from the game when intentionally going for offsides or in case you stay idle for too long Use the comments below to tell us what you think about these changes! - gzell60
  9. Hey NHL Gamers! The registration for this year's ECL Draft / Summer Cup is over, and we already informed all of the captains, which were chosen by staff members, about the next steps. These are your captains, in no particular order: Juizki juha96 DieCutterMC pelimies80 vSilenttio FINSeRe Tuukka.R selänne8 Basstian23 Billy44205 LastMandalorian mir021k debi_85 Patzlaf The live draft (Twitch) will be held on Saturday, July 9th, on 19:00 CEST / 20:00 EEST (subject to change). If necessary, it could be continued on Sunday. Furthermore, you can find the rules right here. We will keep you up to date on any changes as soon as possible, so make sure you watch the site in the coming days! On behalf of the NHL Gamer Staff, - gzell60
  10. Rules build upon our regular ECL rules and include changes due to the format and a few tweaks in regards to scheduling, which were requested by the community for this summer tournament. Changes from ECL Season 2 Rules are underlined. 1. Member registration All players participating in any NHL Gamer league/tournament are required to have a registered account on NHLGamer.com with their Gamertag (Xbox) or PSN ID (Playstation) added to their profile. By joining a team registered for a league/tournament, the player is also accepting these rules. No player may have more than one account on NHLGamer.com. This account can be used for playing on different consoles simultaneously as long as the player has their relevant Gamertag/PSN ID set up on their NHL Gamer profile. If several players use their accounts from the same IP address (for example, brothers living in the same home), those players are required to inform an administrator about these conditions within 24 hours after registering the 2nd account from the IP address. Administrators may ask for proof of identification for both registered players. 2. Code of conduct Registered members are required to treat each other with respect and not divert to overly abusive language. This applies to all league/tournament related conversations conducted on NHLGamer.com, or direct communication between players on external sources if proof can be provided that also includes the context of the conversation. Members are not allowed to try circumventing the rules. Members are not allowed to deceive or give NHL Gamer staff false information. Members are free to question rules and appeal decisions made by NHL Gamer staff, but are required to do so in a constructive and respectful manner. 3. Player registration All registered members are allowed to participate in the draft tournament. Registrations are final once the sign-up period has ended. If players refuse to participate/finish the tournament with their drafted team, they will face a suspension. After the registration period is over, NHLGamer Staff will decide on how many players per team will be allocated. Staff will then continue to elect an according number of team captains (one per team) who are facing certain responsibilities (Rulebook #5). 4. Draft Before the start of the draft, pick order will be randomized, and all team captains will receive their pick numbers along with a list of all participating players. They are given at least 3 days to prepare for the draft. The draft will be held live with all team captains. Team captains will pick players until every registered player is allocated to a team (this time: 9 players per team, captain included). If needed, the draft procedure can be split into two different parts, taking place on two different days. If one captain is not available, he needs to put all registered players into order and NHL Gamer staff will pick according to these preferences. As soon as all teams are complete, each team captain needs to delegate two assistant captains from their roster. 5. Responsibilities All managers (C and A) are the representatives of their entire team, as such they are responsible for: • Scheduling games • Ensuring their team complies with the tournament rules at all times • Any communication with other managers or with NHLGamer staff in the name of their team. All players are to follow the rules and any decision made by administrators. Even if a decision is being appealed the original ruling must be followed until further notice. NHL Gamer staff are responsible for: • Hosting the league/tournament • Enforcing the rules. That includes investigating potential infractions in order to issue the proper rulings. • Settling potential disputes between players or teams • Recording league/tournament events 6. Scheduling By default, 2 opponents (2 games per opponent) are to be played during a one week period. There are no default game days. Games must be played until 7 days after default game week. All games must be played until one week after the last default game week. If the regular season is still not finished by then, NHLGamer Staff will investigate and hand out walkover wins to the teams which were more active in scheduling the games. During the playoffs, it is required that at least 2 games are scheduled for one game day. To make the draft more meaningful, it is required that ALL players within each roster play at least 3 games during the regular season. Each missing game leads to a 3 point deduction at the end of the regular season. In case a player does not show up after he registered and was drafted, this needs to be reported to NHL Gamer staff. Staff will check whether he was indeed not available to play or forced out by the team captains. If a team is more than 15 minutes late to a game, the opposing team has the right to request a walk-over win. These requests will be looked at by the NHLGamer staff. Continuous disregard of the agreed schedules will lead to disciplinary actions. 7. Game rules All tournament games are to be played 6 versus 6 in private drop-in games. The away team jersey is required to be mainly white or very light in color. Home team jerseys are required to be dark or brightly colored. The main point is that the home and away teams should be easily distinguishable from each other. The away team is responsible for switching the uniforms prior to the game, if there is an issue with the colors. Teams are allowed to use pauses during stoppages in play during games. Pauses should not be used before the first face-off. Teams are not allowed to disturb other teams using text or voice messages during the game. Players are not allowed to challenge for a fight before a faceoff nor against a player who is either in possession of the puck, or would be the first one reaching a loose puck. Note, however, that if a player delivers a big hit, gets the puck and the fight challenge comes up, the opposing team is allowed to take the fight, because the player delivering the hit is regarded as initiating the fight challenge. Teams are allowed to leave a game before the 2-minute mark of the first period if they experience significant lag or if a player has disconnected during those 2 minutes. The game is to be started again, with a new host if demanded by the team that experienced the lag. This process can only be used 2 times for a given game. On the 3rd start the game has to be played regardless of lag for either team. If a goal is scored during the first 2 minutes before anyone has disconnected from the game (due to lag, as described above), it counts towards the league game, even if either team would like to try to get a better connection. If there is a disagreement regarding whether or not the goal should count, teams are expected to provide the NHL Gamer staff with video material to prove their case. With the exception of the first 2 minutes of a game, no player is allowed to quit a game midway on purpose. If a skater disconnects during a game outside of the first 2 minutes: • If a player drops outside the first 2 minutes of the period, the opposing team can choose whether to play the rest of the period 6v5 or 6v6. The team makes the decision by either continuing the game or quitting. After the disconnect the teams are expected to make a stoppage in play as soon as possible, for example by shooting the puck over boards, so that the team who didn’t drop a player can choose how they want to continue. If a team decided to quit, it is important that only 5 players leave the game, thus ending it, and the 6th stays to record the stats of the game. • Any goal scored until the end of that period counts. If the CPU gets points, these points do not count towards the disconnected player’s stats. • After the period is over, the team that did not have a disconnection must leave the game, thus ending it. The other team must take screenshots of the game stats and individual stats for both teams. It is recommended that both teams take the screenshots in order to cover any human error, even though the responsibility to do so is on the team with the disconnected player. • A new game must be started with the same host as the previous game. The remaining period(s) will be played in this new game. The first period of the new game will be the first remaining period of the league game and the game stats will be the sum of the stats from that game and the previous game for which screenshots have been taken. Example: Team A right-wing disconnects during the second period. Teams decide to play until the end of period 2, after which Team B quits. Team A is responsible for taking screenshots of all the necessary stats for both teams and later supplying Team B with these stats. A new game is started and only the first period is played. If the teams are tied (combined score) after the first period, the 2nd period would be counted as overtime. • If the team of the skater who disconnected was on the penalty kill when the disconnection happened, it must take measures to be on the same PK (same player(s) in the box) again for the full 2 minutes to start the remainder of the game. Delay of game is the suggested penalty to get this done as quickly as possible. • Failure to comply with the rules for a player drop will result in disciplinary actions for the captain(s) of the team. On first offense, a warning will be issued. Further violations will result in suspensions. If a goalie disconnects during a game outside of the first 2 minutes: • The team that did not have a disconnection must leave the game at the next stoppage in play, thus ending it. The other team must take screenshots of the game stats and individual stats for both teams. The time of this event must be recorded. • A new game must be started with the same host as the previous game. The remaining time of the period where the goalie left and the remaining period(s) will be played in this new game. The first period of the new game will be the period when the goalie left of the tournament game and the tournament game stats will be the sum of the stats from that game and the previous game for which screenshots have been taken. Example: Team B goalie disconnects at 12:36 into the 2nd period. Teams play until the next whistle, which was at 13:01, after which Team A quits. Team B is responsible for taking screenshots of all the necessary stats for both teams and later supplying Team A with these stats. A new game is started and the gameplay starts from 13:01 in the 1st period. The time before that will be used to get the score to match what it was at the time of the disconnect. Other than that, teams should be standing still. At 13:01, team A will start with the puck in their own zone, as Team B was the one with a disconnect. The game will end after period 2. If the teams are tied (combined score) after the 2nd period, the 3rd period would be counted as overtime. • If the team of the G who disconnected was on the penalty kill when the disconnection happened, it must take measures to be on the same PK (same player(s) in the box) again for the full 2 minutes to start the remainder of the tournament game. Delay of game is the suggested penalty to get this done as quickly as possible. If teams are tied in points at the end of the regular season, the following tie-breaker will be applied: 1) Points 2) Wins (including OT-wins) 3) Head-to-head record (points in mutual games) 4) Goal difference 5) Scored goals 8. Match report After a game is completed, both teams must submit a match report on NHLGamer.com. All managers (C's and A's) have access to do this. The reporting person of a team is agreed internally per game. All match reports must be submitted within 24 hours after the game is completed, but as a general rule teams are expected to submit the stats immediately. Continued failure to report stats on time and/or accurately will result in disciplinary action. In case of repeated user error offenses, a warning will be issued. Once a warning has been given, further offenses may lead to a suspension or a deduction in team points. The rule also applies to the 24 hour period within which the matches should be reported. All stats reported must correspond with the figures in game. 9. Recruitment and transfers Due to the teams resulting out of a draft, no transfers are allowed. Recruiting players which did not sign-up for the tournament is strictly prohibited. Any violation of this rule may lead to suspensions. 10. Infractions Violation of the member registration rules will result in a permanent account ban. Violation of the code of conduct, with the exception of rule 2, will result in a player ban, the length of which is defined as follows: • 2 games for first offense • 6 games for second offense • Tournament ban for 3rd offense Violating rule 2 of the code of conduct will result in a tournament ban. Teams unavailable to play a scheduled game are given a walk-over loss. If the opponent was available they get a walk-over win, otherwise they also get a walk-over loss. All walk-over requests are reviewed by the NHL Gamer staff. 11. Definitions “League/Tournament start” is the date of the first game played in the tournament. “League/Tournament end” is after the end of the final game of the tournament. “Game” is defined by a home team and an away team. “Managers” of a team are the captain and the assistants. “Transfer” is the movement of a player from a team to another. A player is on a team as soon as he is displayed as such on NHL Gamer. “Recruitment” is the addition of a free agent by a team. “Free Agent” is a member of NHL Gamer who has not been registered to any team during a league/tournament. “Disqualification” is when a team gets removed from the tournament. A disqualified team has all its games cancelled, unless it has already played 80% of it's games, in which case the remainder of games will be reported as walk-over losses. This is in order to keep the stats intact and respect all the effort that has gone into playing and reporting all of these games. “Ban” is a player punishment. Ban length depends on the infraction made by the player. A player banned for N games is not allowed to play the next N games scheduled for his current team. As such, if the team schedule is changed the games the banned player has to skip remain the same. This applies across tournaments and across different teams. “Infraction” is the act of breaking any rule described in this document. “Walk-over” is a team punishment in the form of an automatic 5-0 result. If a game cannot be played and one team is at fault, that team gets a walk over loss while the other team gets a walk over win. All walk-overs are reviewed by NHL Gamer staff before becoming final. "Trade deadline" is the moment when transfers are not allowed anymore until the end of a tournament. "League/Tournament game" is the official game according to NHL Gamer stats. In the case of disconnection, the tournament game consists of parts of two NHL16 games.
  11. Hey NHL Gamers, today, EA Sports announced NHL 17's release dates throughout the US and Europe. While North American players will be able to start on the 13th of September this year, European players will need to wait until September 15th. This is not your first chance to play the game though, as registrations for the Public Beta (July 28th - August 4th) have just opened up. So make sure to sign up to get into some early action across 3 game modes: EA Sports Hockey League Hockey Ultimate Team Online VS To sign up for the beta, follow this link!
  12. Hey NHL Gamers, after the Vision trailer which was released a couple of weeks ago, EA Sports now provided us some more footage of the upcoming title NHL 17. As always, Gameplay trailers do not show raw gameplay but rather give us an impression of some of the new features. Did the trailer get you pumped for NHL 17?
  13. Hey NHL Gamers, the results of this year's Cover Vote were revealed last night during the NHL Awards, and Vladimir Tarasenko was presented as the new Cover Athlete for NHL 17: Are you happy with the fan's choice? Tell us how you like the cover design in the comments below!
  14. No, we are using EASHL drop in games (I think they are called "Quick Play", but I'm not sure... never used English language in the game before) where you can invite players to a private lobby. I think I can put up a short tutorial before the tournament starts. This way we avoid balancing issues with players like Crosby, Stamkos etc.
  15. Yes they are for real. You assume that only our hardcore base participates in this Draft version, but when you take a look at the registrations, this is definitely not the case. Would you play with 3 top attackers but 2 unknown defenders who never played a single ECL game before? It's definitely possible, but I doubt that will be more effective than having an average attacking line and an average defense. I'm certain there will be a few interesting picks. And as last year, this is the very first time a Draft ECL takes place. If it turns out to be different, there will be adjustments for next time This was true for Season 1, but scheduling rules had been changed for Season 2. In comparison to the changes we made in Season 2, this will be more relaxed. Also, keep in mind this Draft ECL is aimed to be finished until the NHL 17 demo - so a certain schedule will have to be in place.
  16. PSN Name: gzell60 About me: 21 years old from Munich, Germany. Started playing the NHL series in 09 and EASHL in 10, and I am currently part of UKnighted HC as an allround skater (preferred order: RW, RD, LW, LD, C). I'm also helping out on NHL Gamer as a Mod with several things like running tournaments, chatting on the forums, creating ideas and designing assets like the Draft ECL logo above. I'm not shy of playing with Finnish / Swedish / players from other regions! Also, I'm not going to be a team captain due to limited time, but during the week I am available almost every day (though I'm on vacation from July 24 to August 2)
  17. There will be some sort of mechanic to ensure that all players of a roster play a certain amount of games (because we want to get newcomers 'into the game'), and by keeping the roster size low we want to increase the importance of the draft: - Does it make sense to pick the overall best players in the beginning as there will be a chance you end up with unknown / less experienced players in your roster (which are required to play)? - Does it make sense to pick average players from the beginning which will result in a roster without stars / newcomers, but instead a solid base? These are the questions that team captains will have to answer for themselves Of course it is possible we will adjust the roster size according to the number of registrations, but this is what we aim for now. Last ECL season we increased the importance of our default game days, to the point where we had to hand out walkover losses when one team could not play on these days even though they would be available on other days. This time it won't be as strict, so every day is a default day. I think you got the concept of 'default game days' wrong here.
  18. Hey NHL Gamers, alongside of the NHL 17 Feature Reveal earlier today, EA Sports have also answered the first batch of questions on Ask NHL. If you want to submit your own question, you can do it on the Ask NHL website. 20. Hey NHL Gamers, it's been 7 weeks since the start of ECL Season 2 on PS4, and first things first: MUKIMIEHET won the cup! Congratulations go out to you guys, but we also want to thank Victorious Secret HC for making the final such a close one. We would also like to thank all participating teams for their dedication which made this second season such a smooth one after all. RECAP Before we headed into this season, you were very clear about what you expected from us. The main thing was the overall length of the tournament and scheduling in general, as many of you didn't feel like continuing with the game during summer time. We focused on this a lot, and tried to interact with you more than we used to and especially earlier than we did during last season. That was also the main reason why we decided to seed 48 teams into 8 groups: Not only were we able to keep the regular season as short as 10 games, but due to the fact that 4 teams per group were able to advance to the playoffs, we believe that newcomers received a fair chance to establish their reputation. This effect was also visible after the regular season was done: While established teams like UKnighted HC, No Guts No Glory and The Unstoppable Warriors didn't make the playoffs, some of the recently joined teams suddenly appeared in the playoff tree (Fat Cats, Rising Force, HC iceTigers, Freaky Friday, Helter Skelter, HC Shameful Knights). Another point I want to talk about is the rulebook. All in all, this season was a pleasant surprise in my eyes. While there were lots of discussions during our first season, and also controversy about staff decisions, it was almost like the complete opposite this time. Let me say this right away: While we might have tweaked a few things from the administration side, it was you, the players, who made this happen. Compared to the end of last year, everyone of you did a great job in supporting the platform and each other, and it was only rarely necessary to contact staff members about any problems. We appreciate this a lot, as it allows us to spend our limited time on other aspects of the website. Thank you very much! However, there was one case where staff intervention was needed: TIKI TALK vs. Nordic Lightning during the playoffs. I don't want to go into detail again, but please note that we pay attention to any shortcomings like we did last season. And while it may have been a tricky and also frustrating situation, these cases are always important to lead us forward. At this stage we already have a solid foundation, but certain aspects like scheduling need another overhaul to ensure that the rulebook allows for competitive gameplay and at the same time keeps our personal lifes in mind and intact. Let me use this opportunity to remind you of our feedback tool once again. We already received some valuable input, and we believe there are many more people who would like to tell us about their opinions: WHAT'S NEXT? We were very intrigued by the Summer Cup discussion which took place during the last 2 months. We always got the impression that NHL during summer time is a dead place, but seeing how carefully this initiative was driven by our fellow community members (without any staff influence) and how many people already left their vote on this topic, we decided to hear you and kick off another tournament during the next few months until mid-August. Mid-August is usually the time when EA Sports releases a demo version for the next NHL game, and we don't want to interfere with that. On top of that, I can already reveal that this next tournament will not be part of NHLGamer's ECL tournaments. This time we aim for open schedules and we want to give all of our members (whether they be veterans or juniors) a chance to get connected. Stay tuned, there will be another announcement with all the details very soon! On behalf of the NHLGamer Staff, - gzell60

    Season 2 - FINAL

Hey NHL Gamers, Season 2 is nearing it's end, as the finals will be starting this Monday! MUKIMIEHET and Victorious Secret HC will be playing for the cup, and soon we will know who follows Nordic Blizzard to call themselves ECL Champions on PS4. Watch the forums in the next few days to see what time the games start and on which channel they will be streamed. Let me use of this opportunity and remind everyone of you of the Summer Cup discussion which is currently ongoing on the community side: We already received interesting input from you, and if you feel like playing another season with NHL 16 then please raise your voice! Aside from the 6vs6 tournaments, we are also discussing other ideas for our future. I believe there is lots of interesting stuff in our minds, and we will share it with you when the time has come (which, of course, may take a while!). For now, a big thank you for all your support. On behalf of the NHLGamer staff, - gzell60
  22. Hey NHL Gamers, with Synergy Hockey and Finnish Roosters having finished their series tonight, the semi-final is complete, and below you can find the match-ups: Groups 1-4 Kattiautomaatti - Victorious Secret HC Groups 5-8 MUKIMIEHET - Finnish Roosters As we announced on the forums, Kattiautomaatti and Victorious Secret HC were already allowed to start their series today. This means the alloted time for their games is until Sunday, while MUKIMIEHET and Finnish Roosters are allowed to make use of the following Monday in case it is needed. Of course, we hope to return to schedule again, and kick off the finals in time. On behalf of the NHL Gamer Staff, - gzell60
  23. Welcome to the community! There is a free agent thread, as well as a 'clubs looking for players' thread located in the NHL 16 section: http://nhlgamer.com/community/forum/18-eashl-teams-ps4/ Maybe it can further help you in joining or building a team yourself!
  24. Hey everyone, thanks to all teams who were able to finish their series in time. Unfortunately, there was a lot of controversy around the Nordic Lightning vs. TIKI TALK match-up, which is why we were only able to publish this announcement today. Some background: Nordic Lightning told their opponent, they would not be able to play any game during the weekend, and consistently asked TIKI TALK to finish the series until Thursday. TIKI TALK on the other hand were only able to start the series on Thursday, because they decided to watch Finnish World Cup games on Monday and Wednesday. On Thursday, 6 games were played - and the series was tied at 3. After game 6, TIKI TALK decided to quit for the night. We have evidence, that this was due to the team not being confident to be able to win the last game. In the end, we decided to make a decision according to the rulebook (#6 "Scheduling"): "Teams are allowed to re-schedule any of their games. Both teams involved must agree to the re-scheduled game date and time before the game date and time are made official. If there is no agreement of re-scheduling, the default date and time stands. Teams are not allowed to ignore requests for re-scheduling and must respond to the requests as quickly as possible." We think that TIKI TALK failed to act according to this part of the rule, and on top, were willing to risk a delay of the whole tournament by suddenly quitting on Thursday after game 6. This is why we will hand out a walkover win to Nordic Lightning, to win the series 4:3. Important reminder: If you have scheduling issues like these in the future, open up a private message with both team captains and NHLGamer admins/mods AS SOON AS YOU SEE THESE ISSUES COMING UP. It helps us to avoid these conflicts in the future. Also remember: Any threats against admins/mods to reinforce your opinion are not acceptable and will certainly not help in finding a solution together. Below you can find the new match-ups for the next playoff round: Groups 1-4 Nordic Lightning - Victorious Secret HC Kattiautomaatti - Nordic Nightmare Groups 5-8 MUKIMIEHET - Aapon Taikasauva Synergy Hockey - Finnish Roosters The time allotted for every round in the playoffs is one week and the default scheduled days are Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. Sunday should not be used for scheduling - only as a last resort to get the games played. This will allow us to have everything set up and for the next round to start on time. On behalf of the NHL Gamer Staff, - gzell60
