  1. Hi @Vildmanden93 - good and relevant questions! I have just sent a PM to all captains. I will also paste the information below for transparency:
  2. We will add the opportunity for this tomorrow. Stay tuned!
  3. Cool stats @SadaPoika, thanks for sharing! Do you have the source for this? I've looked for this info before and couldn't find a reliable source.
  4. Hey NHL Gamers, We recently posted our first part from our visit to Seinäjoki to attend the IS Cup. I had the privilege of attending this event with the wonderful @The_Alpha_Furyan. You can read more about the tournament in that article, as this time around it's about the video recap we've put together from that weekend. To make sense of all the material we collected during this intense day (it was a lot), we enlisted the help of professional Viaplay video editor @LastMandalorian who did a fantastic job putting everything together. You can check out the end result below! Hope you enjoy the video as much as we enjoyed being there! Can't wait to be a part of more of these events in the future! As mentioned above, check out our written first part if you missed it previously: Until next time,
  5. What would be your recommended and cost effective way of using an Xbox Controller with a PS4?
  6. Welcome back @Depch! It's been a few years since we played on the same team for a while. As you've noticed, most of the teams on our website are on the PS4, but we have recently also got some Xbox One teams and will be running a league for Xbox One starting in May. I also like the Xbox controller more, but so far my EASHL play has been 99% on the PS4. If you decide on the PS4, you can join the upcoming Summer Cup, which is of a draft format. We are of course also open to doing a Summer Cup for the Xbox One, if there are enough interested players.
  7. Fix that! Also, congrats! Well done!
  8. Hey NHLGamers, It's with great pride that we cross yet another milestone and can announce that we reached the 2000 registered members mark a few days ago! It brings me great joy and pride to see our community both grow and develop. Bringing in the divisions for ECL Season 4 was the product of listening to a lot of community feedback and shaping it into the form our team thought would work best and it has been amazing to see how well the three divisions have been received. The fourth season of our ECL has been our biggest and most competitive season - I even dare say it's been our best season thus far. So, what's next? As some of you may know, I've had to take a bit of a step back both when it comes to the action on ice and the amount of time available for running the league. I'm really happy to say that we have a very committed and active staff with tasks being distributed more evenly every day and freeing up some more time for the actual development of the site. Personally, I moved to Malta for career opportunities in November and while it was a great growing experience and gave me a lot, it also took away from my passion by making it harder for me to be involved in the community as much as I want to. This is why I have decided to return home to Finland and pursue my passion, which is NHLGamer - our community. What we are planning for NHLGamer in the future will be discussed in more detail in the upcoming months, but here's a few short points on what you can expect from NHLGamer in the near future (in no specific order and not limited to): ECL Summer Cup 2 (PS4) XECL Season 1 (Xbox One - name TBC) 1vs1 Leagues Quality articles, videos and streams New website features I can't begin to express how happy and excited we are that our community is blooming and things are moving in a great and positive direction! Thank you to everyone who is a part of this community and help make it as versatile place as it is today - let's continue our work and make sure our community is welcoming to every new member that wants to join! We are continuously working on improving our social media and your support is important to us. By following one or many of our social media feeds, we know where you would like to see more content, so please follow and tell your fellow members and friends to follow us behind the below links: https://www.facebook.com/NHLGamer/https://www.twitter.com/nhlgamerCOMhttps://www.youtube.com/nhlgamerofficialhttps://www.twitch.tv/nhlgamertwitch/ On behalf of the NHLGamer Staff,
  9. Amazing work! Can't wait to follow these matchups! Let the streaming begin!
  10. Thanks, this is fixed now. From a technical perspective it has to do with the division system. There was also another player with this issue. Thanks - fixed!
  11. Currently, no. Good feedback! Definitely something to be added.
  12. According to the match reports, you have one OT-loss and the rest are regular time losses. http://nhlgamer.com/team.php?teamID=183&leagueID=20&platformID=1
  13. Hey @Billy44205 thanks for this. Can you verify that the issue still remains with the new front-end as well. The position in the team page is selected by 'preferred position', which he can set under the 'Edit player' page. I believe he has set his preferred position as a forward even though he has tagged his positions as LD and RD. Please check with him.
  14. Hey, the link doesn't work.
  15. Can't wait to see what @Danielcadabra and the rest of the community create in the future! You have our full support!
  16. Thanks for the great feedback! I think you guys will be pleasantly surprised once we show you some new stuff. Keep the ideas coming!
  17. Whether to play season 5 in NHL 17 or 18 is up for discussion. We would expect season 5 to go quite far into the summer in that case and traditionally teams haven't been keen on playing. Please let us know your thoughts in the comments.
  18. Can you make sure that: 1. You have closed the browser completely. 2. You try to shift + refresh 3. Clear your cache. I had the same problem earlier, but these steps helped me. Let me know how it works out, thanks!
  19. Huge congratulations and good luck @Dominointi!
  20. Wow. This was a really good write-up @weelmax! Interesting read!
  21. Well done, my friend! Congratulations!
  22. Thank you for taking the time to write this @MartindalexC. I'd like to start off by saying that what you wrote is definitely not approached as bitching or complaining - what you wrote above is an excellent piece of feedback with good argumentation. Your timing couldn't actually have been any better; we are having a team meeting in just about 2h, where we are going through our short and long-term plans. I would definitely put a high-priority pin in what you've suggested. Now, I tend to respond to a lot of things with "we're actually doing that" or "it's coming" and so forth. A lot of the features that would take care of most of the annoyances (I believe) have been planned ages ago, but of course that's worth nothing until it's actually implemented. Therefore I'm happy to say we've been contacted by some of our fellow community members that have reached their hands out to help us with their expertise. That being said, we are still taking in applications for more people that would be interested in helping out. Also worth noting that it will take some time before these new staff members will be fully up to speed and on board and that is one of the things we need to discuss today. Anyways, let me comment briefly on some of the points you made: -Need to add stats for both teams, make it so you only have to add your own We will definitely take this into consideration. The original logic behind it is that the winner is usually more energetic after a win and happy to put in the stats and that it's only the team stats that we're talking about. But yes, I can understand that if you're winning most of the games, you're also doing most of the work. Noted! -Penalty drop down box and class all penalties as the same, not counting minute duration ofc I can see that putting in the reason for penalties can feel unnecessary at this stage. The reason behind this is that this is all stored in the database and in the future we can see team and individual stats for what penalty the team/player usually is guilty of, if there's a certain time during the game where the team takes penalties more frequently etc. Some teams may even want to use it as a coaching tool and I think it's a cool feature to have. Not the most urgent thing in the big picture, but having the stats in place gives us the possibility to calculate whatever statistical details one might want to display. As for the missing penalties, I added the cross-checking as soon as it was mentioned in the chat (you can see it in your screenshot). When you mention missing penalties in plural, are you referring to the obstruction-hooking and other obstruction penalties? I can add them in if we want those added. -Need to add full star selection on both sides of the stat sheet, make it so only one team reports 'their' stars This ties into your first point about team stats. Noted. -Unnecessary types of goal condition, see penalty criticism for same reasoning I completely agree that the current stats that are displayed are not reflecting these goal conditions (except for the match page) in any way. As with the penalties, there's a bunch of cool things we can calculate in the future. You mentioned the shooting chart in your post. This is something of low priority, but fairly easy to implement. And before everyone yells "Oh noooo - more stats!", hehe, no, we're not planning to make it compulsory. However, I know there's some stats people out there that would appreciate the feature. Basically, the user reporting the game could simply click where each goal was scored on the net and while it already could be a cool feature for the match page, the full benefit could be in a longer scale "where are we scoring/being scored on" kind of art that could be generated based on the data. Again, I emphasise, this is not something we are prioritising at this stage, as there's so many more important matters to focus on, but just to answer your question on what that is about. +Passing percentage statistic in opening page I agree - I want this. We can add this, for sure. Only thing is, that it would only be displayed in the match screens, as adding up passing percentages from game to game isn't an accurate measurement. (Or we could do that, but note on the stats page that it isn't mathematically accurate) +Usernames for players available at all times Yes, I agree with you. It gets confusing when players change their names. Will be adding this. Thanks again for the feedback. It's always good to get the feedback directly from the community. Sometimes (very often, actually) it matches with our vision and it gives us an indicator that this feature is what you guys want and we can put a priority on it. At other times it offers a good balancing to things we have thought about differently. Please keep the feedback coming and it's especially helpful if it's as well motivated as the above. Apart from the above you mentioned, the reporting screens need to be polished, we need to add a few more verifications so one should be unable to report clearly false stats and we definitely need to get the discussion box underneath the match stats.
  23. Thank you for taking the time to write up this in such an elaborate way @Juizki! I agree with you 100%. The idea we have is to have badges in team and player profiles and as many of you know I do enjoy recording the history of our leagues, so this is the perfect way to do so. The concept has been on our to-do list since the site opened, but as we can all see, it's not in place. It could be a good idea to add a simpler version of what you suggested and later on build on the algorithm that we would like to have in the backend, that would actually recognise certain achievements automatically and display them in the user profile etc. I do admit that I have an ability to overthink things, so to make a page with a list could be a good start.
  24. Hey NHL Gamers, As most of you probably have noticed, there's been some controversy between the teams Synergy Hockey and Silver Sword Griffins. We will start this post off by laying down the information and staff ruling in this case and finish off with the round 2 matchups. The NHL Gamers staff was approached yesterday (3.1.) with Synergy Hockey (from here on SYN) asking what to do, when it's the last day and Silver Sword Griffins (from here on SSG) can't play. We instructed that the games need to be played yesterday. SYN was available to play, while SSG replied to them "I told you yesterday that we can't. We don't have to play with a suboptimal roster just because you couldn't play at all last two weeks" and adding "We could've finished yesterday but see Pelle I think it was who called it a night at 10pm. And now we have to adapt to that?". Here are the bullet points that we gathered from talking to both teams: The teams were supposed to play their first games on the 20th of December. SSG cancelled at the last minute due to "problems with personal relationship between our RW and G". SYN had before these games communicated to SSG that they can't play until the 2nd of January due to Christmas and New Years plans. As the games on the 20th were cancelled, SYN was able to offer another opportunity to play on the 22nd of January, where they played (according to their description) with a non-optimal line-up, in order to get the series started. SSG won both of the two games that were played. Series 0-2. The second batch of games were to be played, as agreed, on the 2nd of January. SYN asked before the games "How many games today (at most). 3?", to which SSG replied "yeah, something like that". SYN won the first game, SSG won the second game (making the series 1-3), after which SYN asked "One more?" and SSG replied "yeah". After the third game of the evening (SYN won and made the series 2-3), SSG asks "can you keep playing?", but SYN says that they can't and asks if SSG can play the next day. It is also explained that one of their players has already went to sleep. 13 minutes later, at 22:07 Swedish time, SSG says that they can't play on Wednesday, which is the last day of the first round. Neither teams are directly asking for WO's, but as time has run out and we're past the extra allocated day, we can not continue to give out more time for the series. The criteria on which we made our decision: We do not believe either team to have purposefully ended up in this situation. SYN was unavailable to play for a lot of evenings, however they did communicate this very clearly and were available to play on 4 occasions (20th, 22nd, 2nd and 3rd). SSG says they were ready to play on all default days. SSG didn't at any point contact the staff about any issues with the series. Only after being asked to play on the last day (3rd of Jan), they started communicating with the staff. Their explanation is that SYN was largely unavailable and that they are to be blamed for the situation. SSG claims they thought the 2nd of Jan was the correct date, as communicated earlier (before adding the extra day). Their point is valid about the clarity of the staff's communication and it is noted, but doesn't validate their unclear communication. As mentioned above, SSG made a comment about not agreeing to play with a "suboptimal" roster on the last day of the playoffs. They later commented to the staff that this was said out of frustration and wasn't accurate, and that they actually didn't have the appropriate amount of players to play. SSG did not communicate to SYN on time that they won't be able to continue the series on Tuesday. They only communicated this after some of SYN had left after the games on Monday. SYN asked up front how many games will be played and "one more" and not at any point was it mentioned that the series will have to be finished on Monday. After hearing both sides and investigating this case thoroughly - we have made the tough decision that Synergy Hockey advances to the second round of playoffs with WO's against the Silver Sword Griffins. We would like to remind everyone that the staff works as a team and there are votes on the difficult matters. The vote in this case was not unanimous, but this decision was supported by the majority. Walkovers at this stage are unfortunate but all teams need to be aware of the deadlines and due to the extra time already allocated, for the greater good, the NHLGamer Staff is forced to make this decision so the second round can start as promised. We've done our best to describe above, that we do believe both teams have made mistakes in this series. With better communication, these issues could've been avoided. The staff would've been happy to step in and do our best to help at an earlier stage. Bringing things up on the last possible day is not the approach that we want to encourage. Below are the second round pairings. Second round of playoffs is to be played 4. - 10.1. Laser HT - TIKI TALK Aapon Taikasauva - Fat Cats Northern Stars - Northern Ascendancy Written in the Stars - Nordic Nightmare Synergy Hockey - Mukimiehet X Factor - Dynasty SIKA - Nordic Lightning Finnish Roosters - Nordic Blizzard The schedule and playoff tree will reflect this as soon as possible. In the mean time, feel free to start playing. Respectfully, The NHLGamer Staff
