OFFTOPIC: @Kenu - have you guys thought about sharing your future plans to community? For example how many moderators you are going to add, what kind of tournaments you are going to have (1vs1, 2vs2?), possible awards and so on. Or are these kind of things too fragile to publish? Would be fun to read about your plans, even though you couldn't tell that much about them.

Absolutely have thought about it and will do that in the future, but I hate to disappoint people, so I'd rather work out an internal time-line before going public about the plans. 1vs1 and 2vs2 are definitely in the works and should technically be easier to pull off than the 6vs6 stuff. We love the 6vs6 community and the passion we all share for the EASHL and gaming as teams, so we want to make sure we get that working smoothly before moving on to the "smaller" stuff.

The 6vs6 stuff is working quite well at the moment, but as you may have noticed, there are still some bugs to fix here and there. We had to cut some corners in order to get the first tournament running on time and some of the functionality wasn't created with more than one season in mind. This is why you might notice some weird stuff going on in some parts of the website. We are working through these kinks and once we get those polished, we are confident that starting a third season - whenever that is - should be much smoother of a ride. Very happy about the bug reports we've received, as we've been able to squish quite a few bugs before the became a problem for more users.

  2. I like the idea proposed here and we've tossed around the idea of a Summer Cup of some sort before. Like @gzell60 said, our understanding is that people don't want anything too serious in the summer at least, so we didn't have anything planned. Depending on player interest it could definitely be done.

I agree with the concept that it needs to be more relaxed than your average tournament and due to the summer it could indeed be a good idea to mix things up with different rosters than during the regular ECL.

Keep voicing your ideas and thoughts and we'll see what you guys think.

The pages for standings and stats for ECL season 2 are currently very weird.

The groups aren't showing correctly and no player stats are showing at all.

The groups should be fixed now (thanks @Lurkins). We expect to get the player stats up soon (not tonight). We fixed the season 1 stats today with the new code and it just needs to be automated for season 2. Thanks for the feedback!

    Hello!

Maybe I have missed something, but I and the other assistant captains of our team (Beniserna) are not able to see all the players in our roster even though they have accepted the invites. It seems to be working for everyone else. Anyone else have this problem?

EDIT: I noticed that all the players actually do appear, but only if you view the roster through Leagues --> Teams. IIt does not work if you go directly to Manage roster

Thanks for the feedback - we'll be sure to look into this!

I like what you're doing with the stats, separating the seasons (seasons 1 vs. 2 etc.) and also regular season/playoffs within the separate seasons. This is a feature that was highly requested, atleast by me.

However, it seems to experiencing some bugs at the moment. For example, the regular season/playoff split regarding games and points scored is fine for me and everyone on my team but the plus/minus seems to copy from regular season to playoffs.

I mean, we got beat handidly by Nordic Blizzard but I'm pretty sure I wasn't a -30 in the 4 games we played ;)

Thanks for the feedback! I know @Lurkins has been working with this today and +/- was a tricky one. Not sure if he fixed it yet, but of course it is a priority to get that fixed.

We redid the stats printing in order to make it lighter for the server, as some of you might remember the stats was a reason for our site getting shut down a couple times during last season. This should take care of that issue.

  6. Hey All,

I'm looking for a (mature-ish) team to play with in the EASHL and ECL. I have played OTP since 08 and EASHL since 09 and play for the team, not for personal success.

I prefer the RW position, but could be interested in other positions as well. I speak fluent Finnish, Swedish (Moomin) and English.

Great job as always Billy! It was a pleasure reading your well-thought-of analysis of the possible division systems. Personally I find it impossible to run another tournament in time without implementing a division system. This, however, depends of course on how long it takes to make the necessary improvements on the site, including the possible division system. In any case we'll do our best to start the next tournament as soon as possible. Please continue to share your thoughts on the matter!

Couldn't have said it better. Thank you @Billy44205 (and all other serious posters in this thread)! Well done - really appreciate the effort! Please keep discussing and voicing your opinions.

  9. Hi All,

Please post the scheduled round 3 games in this thread as soon as possible and don't forget to put your stream links up at the main site.

This is to clarify any scheduling problems and also to help people follow your streams. This is explained more thoroughly in the thread linked below:

Examples of how to post your schedules:

    Quote

Team 1 and Team 2 have agreed to play the round 3 games according to the default schedule. In other words:

    Monday 22.2.: Game 1 and Game 2
    Wednesday 24.2.: Game 3 and Game 4
Thursday 25.2.: Game 5, Game 6 and Game 7 (if necessary)

We will be streaming on Twitch and you can find the stream on NHLGamer.com when the games are on!

    - Captain from Team 1

    or

    Quote

Team 1 and Team 2 have agreed to play the round 3 games according to the below:

    Tuesday 23.2.: Game 1 and Game 2
    Friday 26.2.: Game 3 and Game 4
Saturday 27.2.: Game 5, Game 6 and Game 7 (if necessary)

    - Captain from Team 1

Both teams don't have to write the same message, but we kindly ask for the other team captain to quote their opponents message and confirm the schedule in this thread.

    Any questions, let us know.

The "dangerous" rule change makes it about the same as regular season scheduling (except default Wednesday turned into Tuesday? I dunno why).

That is a mistake on our part. Thank you for pointing that out Billy, that was unintentional and has now been fixed. Monday, Wednesday and Thursday are the correct days and this is what it says in the schedule.. Anybody running into problems due to our mixup, let us know.

    43 minutes ago, Billy44205 said:

One other thing I would have an issue with, is how basically you have less than a day to schedule your first games if you work with if the first day of your playoff round window is also the first default game day. In this case, before Sunday evening it is possible you don't know who you play against, so you only have Monday morning/afternoon if you are to reschedule your first 2 games. I find this impractical and I'd rather set the playoff window as Saturday to Friday rather than Monday to Sunday. A playoff window should not begin with a default game day imo.

This is also a very valid point and something we have to do better in the future.

In this case, I believe all four teams have been aware of their next opponent for a few days, but I agree it should've been announced earlier.

There's a lot of practicalities we can improve on significantly for the upcoming second season and we're really happy to get the feedback.

From the experience I gained so far, a lot of teams don't know in advance whether they can play on a certain day anyway. In our case most games were agreed on like 5-7 hours before they took place.

This is unfortunately true. However, we would like to change this culture, so that people can plan their lives better. It's a hobby, put it in your schedule. Being a captain can be a nightmare and having a better structure to scheduling games is definitely something we want to help teams with.

  11. Hey NHL Gamers,

We are getting closer and closer to the finals and we've seen some great tight games so far! Did you see the one where Aapon Taikasauva and THE UNITED KNIGHTS went into the 4th OT!? What a nail-biter!

Without further ado, it's time to move to the third round of the playoffs and we have seeded the match-ups as agreed previously.

    Short pointers:

    • Teams can start playing as soon as they please. Please take all necessary pictures of the stats and keep them safe as a backup.
      • Playoff-tree has been updated with the new pairs, as has the schedule and thus the ability to report.
    • All rounds are played best out of 7
      • Please note the new rules on scheduling, that is active immediately! (see below)
      • Since the patch, we feel the home team is no longer negatively affected. This is why we have decided to make the higher ranked team the home team by default.
        • In other words, the games are played HOME, AWAY, HOME, AWAY, HOME, AWAY, HOME from the point of view of the team on the left.
          • However, should the team on the left wish to start as the away team, they must inform the NHL Gamer staff about this during Monday the 8th of February, so we can make the necessary adjustments.
            • The best way to get in touch with us is to send a PM (private message) here on the forums and include all staff members (@FINSeRe @janbonator, @Kenu, @Lurkins & @Ranksu) in that message as the receipients (without the @'s).

    Group 1 (A) vs. Group 3 (C)

A1: Nordic Blizzard (2.45 PPG) vs C3: THE UNITED KNIGHTS (2.33 PPG)
C1: Synergy Hockey (2.38 PPG) vs C2: UKnighted HC (2.38 PPG) vs

    Group 2 (B) vs. Group 4 (D)

D1: Carlsberg HC (2.55 PPG) vs B2: Sjukstugan (2.25 PPG)
B1: Northern Stars (2.46 PPG) vs D2: Dynasty (2.27 PPG)

  14. Hey Everyone,

We are very excited to see all (the big majority) finishing up on the regular season and getting ready for the playoffs!

As you may have noticed, there have been some matters that the staff has had to deal with and there are still a few matters to deal with before finalizing the standings and moving on to the playoffs. We will of course be implementing any possible WO-results before the start of the playoffs, so don't worry if your games are still missing despite things being agreed upon. Feel free to add any missing stats or even play a missing couple of games during Wednesday. If that allows us to avoid WO's - great!

Below you can see a wonderful video made by @gzell60, which illustrates the Playoffs logic during this first season of the ECL:

It is worth noting that if two teams are equally ranked, for example A1 and C1 - as in the video example - we will look at points/game instead of just points, in the situation where one team has played less than the other.

You can see a small preview of the playoff-tree below.

I hope that clears out some of the questions you might have for now. We will disclose the playoff-pairs during the weekend and briefly discuss the plans about the next season of the ECL.

On behalf of the NHL Gamer staff,

    Kenneth

@MartindalexC Very little will be changed for sure as long as this ECL is still under way. You just have to be more patient. Give them at least one offseason before you start the revolution, man.

    Thank you @Billy44205.

Like @MartindalexC, I'm disappointed by some of the things we haven't been able to accomplish during this first season. I've had some big things happening in my personal life, which I won't go into publicly, but will mention that they've drained my personal energy levels to a personal low and are one reason why I haven't been able to be as active as I wanted to.

I actually liked the idea about keeping the game stats and giving every team the points in the case of a disqualification or similar. Thanks for the feedback - definitely worth considering!
