  1. A few weeks ago we learned that NHL 20 will feature Auston Matthews as the cover athlete. Now the cover athletes for the Nordics have been presented, as Patrick Laine and Elias Petterson will be the gentlemen starring on the respective covers of NHL 20 on the store shelves and in the online marketplaces in Finland and Sweden. Laine also appeared on the cover of NHL 19 in Finland and that makes him the first athlete in EA SPORTS NHL history to be featured on the cover for two years in a row. - It was great to hear that EA SPORTS wanted me on the cover again. The new cover is even cooler than the previous one! This sort of recognition brings me the drive to prove on ice that I'm really worth all of the hype, says Patrik Laine. - I'm sure everyone knows that I've been a passionate EA SPORTS NHL fan since I was a kid. A season in the NHL is very tough and playing the new NHL game on the Playstation with my friends is a great way to relax, Laine continues. Laine was picked as one of the superstars that have a NHL 20 Signature Shot in the game. The Signature Shots are - you guessed it - recognizable shooting styles that have been carefully modelled after the biggest stars in the NHL. Within the groups, the seeding works as follows: PPG average during the regular season Wins Head to Head record Goal Difference Goals scored As per our discussion during the FCL, we have decided to honor the following tie-breakers to form the playoff pairs: Group Placement PPG Average Goal Difference Goals Scored In other words: Group winners are seeded #1-3 Group runner-ups #4-6 3rd place #7-9 4th place #10-12 5th place #13-15 The team with the best PPG outside of the top 5 group spots will be seeded #16 (if there are only two teams from the same group fighting for this spot, the group tie-breakers will be used) Sorry about that - wrong setting in the league settings.

Well, if you're not Elite level, then I guess you are not fit for Elite in season 9. 🤷‍♂️😅 Joking aside, feel free to suggest otherwise - this was just the way we thought it should be, as you will be playing Elite or did play Elite depending on the scenario. This helps make the pool of Elite players bigger as well.
  12. It's great that we are getting votes in - but I would love to see some argumentation from both sides of the fence. The alternatives in the article are suggestions and perhaps there are also other alternatives that you might all agree on, so feel free to suggest other ways that you think the Summer Cup might be better/more fun/more even etc. if you believe there should be some changes to the previous format.

Zuvor gab es bereits viele Spekulationen ob diese überhaupt erscheinen würde - doch nun ist sie hier, und das erste Feedback innerhalb der Community - speziell nachdem eine Liste mit Verbesserungen seit der Beta veröffentlich wurde - waren vorsichtig positiv.   16. Yesterday EA SPORTS released the most wanted thing of the summer by releasing the NHL 20 Open Beta. As always, there had been a lot of talk and rumours around the web on whether it would come out or not, but it eventually did and the first impressions around the community - especially after having been presented with a list of improvements since the beta - have been cautiously positive. The tuning to the left trigger, the new animations to the goalies and the revamped shooting especially around the 6vs6 game mode has been mostly received well. But it's still early on and we've barely scratched the surface. This is of course a beta and a lot of improvements are still to be made. As one of the biggest NHL gaming sites in the world - not to mention the amazing talent and passion of our community members - we want to help out. So here's the deal: We want to hear what you guys think, so we can forward it to the producers and developers at EA SPORTS in a well structured and articulated way. We hope you take some time and write about your experiences (both the good and the bad) and possible issues and solutions that you have run into and hopefully this will help us all get the greatest NHL version yet! In the case of reporting bugs, we also hope that you include screenshots or short video clips to explain them better. Det var mycket snack runt om webben ifall betan skulle publiceras eller inte, men som vanligt publicerades den och första intrycket har varit försiktigt positivt runt communityn. Precis innan releaset var det var en lång lista på förbättringar mellan betan och nuvarande situationen av spelet som lades ut av EA Sports. Detta gör det lite smått klurigt att säga hur det egentligen kommer att vara, men det är så klart en beta och det är inte oväntat att mycket kommer förbättras till den fullständiga versionen. Som en av de största NHL gaming sidorna i världen - för att inte glömma talangen och passionen bland våra medlemmar - vill vi hjälpa till. These are purely my assumptions and guesses, but I believe there is a time-consuming process to get a product released on PSN and Xbox Live and they will have to go through testing etc. before actually being made available. While fixing bugs, you may also cause some new bugs to appear and e.g. cause a product to be less stable - which is fine during development, but might not pass quality assurance to be made available for the public. (Yes, yes, the NHL 19 dressing room still made it through 😅). That would be my guesses why the process goes like that. Same thing for when you create a demo of a game that is still in development - you have to choose a build to start working on the demo for, as it is a separate product that will have to go through testing and other processes before release. In the mean time the main product development may be continued with. Good question. I would guess the control scheme wants to be kept the same between game modes and afaik there are no more buttons available for use in versus. Would be great if you could bind your own buttons to avoid this thing in EASHL, though.

  22. Surely you don't mean that you want to remove skating backwards? Assuming you mean changing it for the better so it isn't as useful. Please let us know your ides on what the critical things to fix is and where it's most wrong in your opinion and how you would like it to function. And I really mean it - we can all go "It's broken! It's broken!", but in order for the feedback to be the most beneficial, it'd be great to get the most concrete description(s) of what exactly is disliked, what's liked and how we think it could be fixed the best to our liking. From NHL 20 onwards we will be focusing even more on getting the feedback from our community and how we can best communicate it to the producers and I will definitely be asking for more videos this year. I'll post more about this later.

I've had some questions about L2/LT, and I thought I'd address them, but my man NoSleeves12 already beat me to it with this video: So basically it's useless (and hard) to try to remember how exactly it felt in at the end of April, but the important thing is the conversations with the producers about these things and where they want to go with it. I'm also a strong believer in "I believe it when I see it" with such things as seamless puck pickups, but at least I can say everything I saw in Vancouver points to that they're really working on making it better and skating and passing did feel better - not completely overhauled by any measurement, but more smooth and less on rails with certain movements such as receiving a pass. Needless to say, there were many things not implemented yet in April and it was noticeable (which is to be expected during development), so it's impossible for me to say how well things pan out and work when the game comes out. What I can say though, is that the developers put in a lot of time and energy and genuinely seem to share the passion that we have for the game. I definitely want to work on how we are able to provide better and more specific feedback from here on out and that we as a community get good quality videos of things that we dislike, bugs etc. as I can assure you they do look at them and make decisions based on the material we provide them with.
