  1. And trolling should give you a few minus points. Like I said, it was to give people a rough idea of how we could estimate a team's level objectively.
  2. I don't see a point in placing obviously stacked in lite only to destroy the teams, as it goes completely against the idea of the divisions in the first place. I know the staff underlined the desire for a certain type of longevity with teams, but I see that as merely limiting the competitiveness of the game. However, in order for this type of system to be possible, there has to be a specific way to rate teams and their level. There are various different ways to do that, but the simplest way would be to assign personal ratings to players and when a certain threshold is reached when the player ratings are added up, the team is granted access to Pro if there is room. Say, playing x games in elite the previous season grants a player y rating. On top of that, if he's a forward and finishes in the, say, top-20 in points, he gets z points on top of that. Have rules like this for every position, where the player ratings are in black and white, something tangible to judge a team's ability objectively. This is obviously just a rough example to give you an idea of how a team rating could be achieved through personal performance. I do understand that some players in lite would actually relish the challenge of facing excellent teams in the lowest tier, so their voices should obviously be heard as well.
  3. I like the introduction. That way I know if the podcast will even interest me. Should definitely keep it in my opinion. As for the actual podcast, regurgitating the stats and/or games played isn't very captivating to the listener. Needs some meat on the bones. Keep it up, though!
  4. I've only played the game for three days, EASHL mainly, but I do like the changes they have made. It feels like the "bubble" is gone when you're stickhandling. Last year, if you got behind the defender with the puck, there was no way he could come back from it as you could just protect the puck away from him at a slower speed than the defender was going. The stickhandling is a lot slower, and could maybe be a bit faster, but I don't think it's that bad of a thing if it stays this way. Way less one-man show puck protection non-sense to find an open passing lane. Practice mode will definitely come in handy once the full game comes out to memorize the new dekes. The way the game plays currently promotes a teamplay oriented approach to the game, especially with the chop being nerfed. You can actually use saucer passes more, especially in the neutral zone, which is good and allows for a more creative approach. L1 is ridiculous and something has to be done to remedy that. I wonder if it's used by the NA teams, or if it's a EU thing.
  5. Just pop some earbuds on and clean the house or something, that's how I listen to the podcasts I listen to!
  6. Janikka's post was a very enjoyable read, nice work you old fuck!
  7. Alpha with a very professional sounding intro, introduces Sile who sounds like he just woke up from a drunken stupor 😂
  8. All the games can be found under old videos on our twitch at http://twitch.tv/northernstarshockey
  9. Has someone been playing with xDoumi on my account? I hadn't played a single game with him before the Summer Cup.
  10. Give me back the in-game replays of a big hit and the heartbeat breakaway camera
  11. Free agent for NHL 18. I play center. Elite teams.
  12. Thanks for clarifying, Jimbo! I'm surprised such a dumb person knew something like that.
  13. There are three league levels; Lite, Pro and Elite. Lite and Pro are free to join. If your team wishes to play in ECL Elite, you have to earn promotion through ECL Pro. ECL Lite is meant for the more casual gamers - to have fun and get a taste of ECL action ECL Pro is the league with the most participants, featuring a wide variety of teams, with some of them getting promoted to ECL Elite at the end of this season. ECL Elite features the 16 best teams of the previous season. The last tournament for NHL 17 is ongoing, but the first tournament for NHL 18 usually starts around October. The registration page will appear on this forum around late Sept/early Oct. Once you have registered, the league administration will come up with a schedule and you will complete the games through the Challenge Club -feature in EASHL and report the stats on this site.
  14. I don't know enough about the Synergy-SSG case to really comment and it seems like the staff was between a rock and a hard place with the decision. The Christmas holidays are definitely a tricky time to schedule any kind of games, let alone ECL playoffs where people understandably want to play with their best 6. However, there was a case in the Rynnäkköviikset-SIKA -series where SIKA's goalie froze up during a Rynnäkköviikset attack. RV tried their damnest to score on him but couldn't capitalize on it. I think later on RV's goalie froze and SIKA capitalized on it. Where's the outrage? Another thing to keep in mind is, is it commonplace enough to add a rule about it? If there was a rule on it, people could hypothetically fake a glitch during the last minute of the game to gain immunity against a late minute attack. I don't really whether rule or no rule is the right call, and I'm glad we have a staff to decide on that.
  15. Oli kyllä niin uskomatonta herkuttelua että huhhuh...
  16. There can't. Three points is just adding up the one you get from the correct result and two you get from the correct winner. At least that's how I understand it. Oh, Silenttio just replied! Nevermind then.

  18. I agree! In a perfect world there wouldn't be any vagueness in rules. So maybe it does need a revamp. A glitched out goalie definitely needs to be added to the rules. As for the FR v SSG case, only SSG broke the rules by leaving the game.
  19. Nice work, Sika. I used to love the fact that the community had a bunch of blogs etc. back in the day, and it was always a blast to read through them. Once we transferred over to the PS4, we lost all the blogs and the content has been somewhat lacking. Love it!
  20. The same question applies to a team taking a break for a season and returning for the next one: Will the next season be played with 17 teams or will less teams get promoted?
  21. Yes, I know, I am very smart.
  22. Another thing I would like to add is I don't get the love for the longevity of teams. Sure, I guess it has a certain romantic aspect to it, but players create new teams to up their competitiveness, and to leave teams with bad chemistry either on or off the ice. I'm not sure how implementing a system where creating a new team is discouraging is supposed to increase the competitiveness of the league. Just something to keep in mind.
  23. Well, looks like Viktor said what I was trying to say while I was typing my message.
  24. Just speculating here, picking 16 teams with the best PPG for Elite right now: Written in the Stars Northern Stars Finnish Roosters X Factor Dynasty Nordic Blizzard Refuse to Lose White Trash Aapon Taikasauva Laser HT SIKA MUKIMIEHET Synergy Hockey Northern Ascendancy Nordic Lightning Nordic Nightmare Pro teams looking for promotion would include Sjukstugan, Fat Cats, Alliance HT etc. Looking through the teams, the skill gap between the worst teams in Elite and the best teams in Pro is minimal and in some cases might even favor the Pro teams. Again, I'm just speculating here, but going through that list I could definitely pick at least two teams that - barring some big transfers - would get relegated 99% of the time. So I guess what i'm saying is that the promotion/relegation without a playoff is fine, but I would like to see that kind of qualification round implemented anyhow.
