Here's the bug report for the broken EU matchmaking. Please support the affected teams by selecting "Me too" and "XP" below the post

My only guess on how to maybe ´open the borders´ is to run the searches on relaxed and hope teams in the south/west Europe get matched that way. I have no idea to be honest.
Or, you know, EA simply revert the broken changes they did to matchmaking around October/November and we can all go back to playing the game normally.

Changing the region doesn't help, we tried countless times. I assume it's not affecting matchmaking at all.
-
Bump. Any other teams still affected?
We've been limited to playing a handful of German and French teams in public matchmaking for roughly 2 months now. Basically when this thread started. The beta and ~ first two weeks were working fine.

I think it's good for the talent pool that you don't have to many divisions. If you have 4 divisions or more it takes too much time for these players to find their way to the top.
The problem is that it's basically no difference between top lite and top pro teams. There is no real sense of pregression going through the divisions, it's just a grind. The same structure will appear with more divisions. Unnecessarily complicated and time consuming imo.
Why is that a problem? If your statement is true (I'm not so sure about that), the top lite teams and the top pro level teams would end up in the same division for the next tournament.
Sounds pretty good to me.
As one of the original Divisions creators, assuming the main goal is to shrink Lite in size, I have a different suggestion: Increase ECL Pro to 48 teams and keep the existing structure.

Can confirm that
Nothing changed in 🇩🇪 either. Just hovering between 22 and 25 versus different opponents.

Whew. 11 ms from Moscow? Considering the map below, the changes maybe have not been in effect yet for us yesterday (as was pointed out already). Probably gonna give it a couple more days and will report back if I see any changes.

This is just speculation but there's a chance it'll try to pick the server based on home team's captain instead of middle ground. I guess we'll find soon when international teams use different captains in their EASHL games.
That would be the easy way out, but not a smart or balanced approach. In our case (DPH), we would likely end up on the UK server, in which case we all pretty much face equal latency - for our home game only though. Away games against Swedes/Finns would still end up being a fairly different story then.

Probably means you still got placed in the old server. Some games will still be like that when the opponent is from Western Europe.
Well, is that going to be the case? That's what I am most curious about:
How will games between Swedes/Finns and e.g. Germans or Russians be matched? If these games take place on the new Stockholm (?) server exclusively, there will be serious disadvantages. Or is the matchmaking designed to find a common ground (e.g. FIN vs. GER taking place on the "old" UK server with ~ equal pings for both teams, or US West teams vs. US East teams taking place on the new US Central server)?

Skating on 70 ms is horrible enough already, but goaltending? I don't know man, give it a try though 😄

My ping in EASHL has been like 2-3ms higher after HUT switched to dedicated servers. I know it shouldn't have affected EASHL but I can't think of any other reason either
That is the case for me as well. Before the switch my 6v6 ping was a clean 23 ms, now it's hovers between 25-32 ms all game long.

Poll adjusted, please cast another vote if you did already

Having your ID set as your player's surname is worth a thought as well. I like it. Adding it to the poll is kind of late now though.
I'll redo the entire poll instead.

The latter probably needs some clarification. Would NHLGamer require all the players to send a copy of their passport? How would this data be handled and secured?
No. I edited the poll to say "actual/realistic". If you want to hide your real identity, just come up with a regular name.
-
This was brought up in the ECL Elite captain chat.
Should NHLGamer enforce standardized in-game player names for leagues/divisions covered by media such as Elisa Viihde?
Vote and discuss 🤗

You can also also add your PS4 to the DMZ (demilitarized zone) or set it as Exposed Host, which will open all of the ports. Only do that for the PS4 though, it's dangerous for other devices like PCs.
