  1. SportsGamers,

Our ECL Elite Player Awards vote is making a return and all of you will have the opportunity to impact who will receive the individual awards at the end of the season. We have six categories in total with five nominees in each category. Based on community feedback, this season all nominees have been selected through a vote between the Elite division captains.

Voting will open effective immediately and we're asking you to cast your votes by Thursday, June 15th at 23:59 CEST. The awards will be presented in the ECL '23 Spring Finals broadcasts on Saturday, June 17th. Make sure to cast your vote in order to support your favorite player!

  2. SportsGamers,

The discussion about possibly banning player World of Chel Abilities in ECL competition has been running on social media for quite some time already, and while we already hosted a preliminary poll on Twitter about it, no decisions have been made around the matter. It is a difficult topic to handle due to the fact that any decisions could drastically change the game meta, and we need to maneuver this issue carefully in order to create the most enjoyable experience for our gamers.

This is why we're reaching out to you with this community poll. Please carefully answer the questions and feel free to elaborate your views in the comments section, as the discussion around the poll will definitely hold value and bring up great points.

Also, one last question we didn't manage to fit into the poll, would you ban abilities for both the Zone ability (gold) and Superstar ability (silver) slots?

Keep in mind that we will not make decisions solely based on the poll and the discussion is equally, if not even more important than the poll itself.

  5. SportsGamers,

With the new ECL season at the doorstep, it's time to start registrations for the second season of the 1v1 ECL. In true ECL fashion, this league is for all the best European gamers to test their skills against their peers, and ultimately compete for a great prize pool and the European Championship League title. For the second season of competition, we've made some changes to the format in order to ensure more meaningful games already at the start of the tournament.

This article will feature all the information you need about participating. If you haven’t read our general information yet, we suggest you head over to our ECL ’23 Spring information article.

    Description

ECL 1v1 is for players who want to test their skills against the best of the best in competitive play. This season, we'll be looking to improve on the player experience by introducing a group stage and playoffs similar to what we've seen in the national leagues to this point. This means that all entrants will be seeded into groups right from the get-go and the top 128 players will advance to the playoffs from the group stage. The playoffs will consist of best-of-three rounds. The Finals will feature the top 4 players and the prize pool is 2500 EUR. Taking part in the ECL 1v1 seasons requires the purchase of the ECL '23 Player License.

    ECL_23_Winter_1v1_Prize_Pool_16_9.jpg

    ECL '23 Player Licenses

An ECL '23 Player License purchased for the Winter season will still be valid for the Spring season. However, if a player had not obtained their license for ECL '23 Winter, a license can now be purchased for the Spring season at a slightly reduced price..

The new ECL Player License will cost 15€ and allow for participation in both the ECL 6v6 and 1v1 leagues for the ECL ‘23 Spring season. This license will grant you access to compete in the most prestigious and biggest competitive NHL esports league in Europe. An ECL season spans over the course of two to three months and guarantees a minimum of roughly 20 games of competition on the 6v6 side*, whereas the 1v1 league adds - at the very least - the opportunity to participate in the Qualifiers, guaranteeing a good amount of high level competition also on that side.

License fees will be allocated to fund prize pools and developing operations, such as our broadcasts, live productions and promoting the league.

*Based on the minimum amount of games played in a starting role in the ECL '22 Spring: Core regular season.

      • Pro Qualifiers
        • Pro relegated teams
        • Lite #10-16
        • Wildcard teams #5-8
        • Lite #17-32

    Special rules for Qualifier teams

    • To prevent teams from taking advantage, specifically recruiting players to bolster your chances in the qualifier that have no intention of remaining in the team beyond that, we have decided to enforce a soft roster lock post qualifier play.
      • If a former Elite player wants to participate in a qualifier for a Wildcard, Pro or Lite team, then they will be locked into that division at where the team ends up throughout the season
        • Transfer to a lower division is possible
      • If a former Pro player wants to participate in a qualifier for a wildcard, Pro or Lite team, then they will be locked into that division at where the team ends up for 2 weeks (starting from the first game played in Pro that season)
        • Transfer to a lower division is possible
    • Wildcard Battle, Lite & Pro Qualifiers are part of the season so it is good to remember that only one transfer is allowed during the season

    What does "Wildcard team" mean?

A Wildcard team is a newly created team consisting of experienced community members with such experience and skill that could warrant playing at a higher level than the one the current team would otherwise be assigned to. Alternatively, a team that has strengthened significantly over the offseason can also be considered a Wildcard team.

How many Wildcard spots are there?

There are four Wildcard spots up for grabs in the Pro division.

    Pro Qualifier Wildcard

How are the Lite Qualifier Wildcard spots decided?

If there are more Wildcard eligible teams than spots are available, Wildcard qualifiers will be played. The final format is determined by the number of teams and the lineups of the registered teams.

    Pro Qualifier Wildcard requirements

    • Three former Elite starters or four former Pro starters
      • A starter is defined as having played 16 or more games in the ECL '23 Winter season, or 20 or more games in the ECL '22 Spring season
      • If a wildcard team has players from a roster that was relegated at the end of the ECL '23 Winter season, those players will only count as one towards the wildcard requirements.

    Pro Wildcard Schedule

    • Pro Wildcard registration: 18.3.-1.4.2023
    • Pro Wildcard Battle (if needed): 3.-4.4.2023
    • Pro Qualifiers: 9.-20.4.2023

    * Sign-ups will close 23:59 CET on the last day mentioned unless otherwise specified. Additionally, players qualifying for the Wildcard spot must be on the team roster by the time the sign-ups close.

ECL '23 Pro Wildcard eligible teams

Due to us having four Pro Wildcard applicants fulfilling the requirements for a Pro Qualifier Wildcard spot, The Wildcard Battle was not played this season.

    • HV71
    • N0VA
    • Polski Boys
    • SIKA

  14. RD/LD looking for an interesting opportunity in ECL 11. Not necessarily going to transfer, but due to perhaps limited playtime with KOVA I'm trying to see what kind of alternatives are out there for me.

    - Level of team doesn't matter, but hoping to find a club with capable players that can perform at the top in whatever division you play.

  15. I've had a PlayStation since the late 90's and couldn't imagine gaming on anything else. Not educated on the potential price difference between these consoles, but the specs of the Xbox Series X makes it an interesting option, that in addition with how horrible the online environment at PS has been as of late, it might not take too much to sway me in the other direction. Bottom line though, if the ECL were to be played on Xbox I'd get one, otherwise probably PS5 since that's simply all I know.

  16. Hey there,

Glad to have you on our site! If you're looking to play some casual games I'd recommend checking out our PSN Community called NHL Gamer.
Great way to get the hang of things and make some new acquaintances.

Im pretty sure that NHLGAMER cant give us that kinda service because its finnish. We have this ridiculous Veikkaus Oy what will make sure that this wont ever happen:(

Currently RAY withholds the right for a monopoly on gambling and casino operations in Finland, yes. However, a money tournament on NHLGamer wouldn't fall into the same category. I agree with your views about Veikkaus but they probably won't limit the possibilities of NHLGamer. Then again, I don't know two shits about legislation so don't trust me blindly 😅

On another note, man, am I excited to see what we can do in the near future! There's a number of challenges involved in organising a legit and sustainable money league, but I'm all on board with what @gzell60 stated above. NHLGamer has a nice vision and with the recent growth we're only at the start of it all. Good job by @jtorro1233 to spark some discussion here on the forums about this.

  18. Hmm.. Doesn't show EN HUNDs goal either. Do you have a screenshot of the scoresheet so it can be fixed?

was the game disconnected at some point?
