    Introducing - ECL Divisions

I don't complain about staff and stuff. I don't complain about divisions either. Only the choice of having 3 divisions. I do this, because I asked myself ... what will hurt this community the most.

No, there won't be many good players available. In this tournament, there was perhaps 300 players who played more than 20 games. The player pool will also be smaller with this system. The best we can hope for is bigger rosters in already existing teams. However, since most GMs will only front 6-8 guys, most guys will lose interest and stop playing. Reality is that even guy #10 on a div 1 or div 2 team, will not get himself traded to a division 3 team. You also talk about a growing EASHL. Well, it dosen't matter. You will not be able to sell NHLgamer with the argument "Come and play in division 3". EASHL-teams is already dead and tired of divisions and the road to division 1. Now you make them go through more divisions again, in order for them to compete. In fact, you use the old Rammjagsingh-tactic of not making things accessible. You talk about a dynamic league. Well, there will still be leaps between divisions every tournament with two divisions. How dynamic is it to have a lot of ok teams in division 3? For most div 3 teams, there won't be any leaps anyhow. So there is nothing dynamic about it. Let's focus on making div 1 and 2 dynamic and more fun instead.

Whether we have been active or not is irelevant to the point of having 2 divisions instead of 3. It will be 2 months for some, but for most ok teams it will rather be a year. Most ok teams will never continue trying to reach div 2 and div 3 will be killed off whether you like it or not. It also depends on how much this exceptional status-thing is abused. If rarely used the top of division 3 will be tougher than people expect, which also will kill the fun for lesser teams. In the end however, the staff will be forced to be more liberal in the ruling if they don't want to see to many good players stop playing. History tells us that not many players stick with each other for long. We should give them a natural plattform to start over. To me it's also kind of weird talking about taking NHL to a e-sport level, and then talk about exceptional status for certain teams. How is this e-sport worthy? Again. This wouldn't be a problem with two divisions. I don't like the fact that all new teams will be crippled from the start. My perspective is actually kind of important here, since I represent someone who was thinking about starting a new club. This system award players who instead of starting a new club, tries to get themselfs traded to another team. The community will really hurt from this. There is no growing potential with this system.

Fact of the matter is that every team that today don't have a complete roster and are placed in divison 3, will be forced to trade mediocre players to the team and hope for the best. First when you reach division 2, will one be able to start building something consistent. I think this a weird way of playing in a tournament. Also to be honest. I think it's weird that some teams will get a pass based on a subjective opinion from the staff, while other will be forced to go the long way. This wouldn't be the case with only two divisions. It would be fair competition. Also, I wanna make it clear that this is not about CoG. Even if we were placed in div 2, I wouldn't be happy about this system.

Well, it may sound exciting. But the punching bags will also be the punching bags in div 3. They will not be able to compete. You can see it today. Teams placed 16-22 in each group crush the so called punching bags. If division 3 was smaller, then yes perhaps we could get some excitment going. Fact of the matter is that more than half the teams in division 3, will be good enough to play in division 2. To me, for these teams to play in div 3 just sounds like a giant waste of time. Also dangerous because these teams will lose interest. Not good for the community. But yeah, we have different opinions of course and we see things in different ways. However, in this case, I do believe my prediction are correct. For me, the only exciting thing about divisions is the gap between div 1 and 2 - just as in real life.

Also. Would it not be easier to get rid of division 3 so there's no need for this exceptional status-thingy? I don't get it.

You don't seem to get the point tho. CoG should be in the lowest division. The point is, there should only be two divisions. Also, div 3 will die in a couple of seasons, mark my words. No teams will start over, and the teams relegated to div 3 will stop playing and it will also be harder to attract new teams. Get rid of it. Let's play with 2 divisions, and a free standing league for teams who just want to have a fun time.

Don't think so to be honest. It will be impossible to build a team in div 3. And this goes for a lot of ok teams. Instead, what will happen is that some members of these teams will find new teams in div 1 or 2. The rest will stop playing.

It's not like I'm here suggesting CoG should be in Div 1. Believe or not, but i'm being objective here and I do want this community to do well. However, I fear few new teams will have the energy to go through div 3 only to reach div 2. This is a monumental problem in many ways. For example. We have many div 1 teams that will stop playing together after one or two tournaments. Some members of those teams will of course find new div 1 teams. But some members of those teams gonna wanna start something new and fresh from scratch. Now. If they only had to go back one division, that would be a possibility. But now with 3 divisions in place, what will happen instead is the fact that they will stop playing all together. 3 divions is not good for activity. Not even for top teams.

Haha. Well, thing is no experenced player will play in division 3. This is a great miscalculation from the staff.

Can someone explain the pros of division 3, that a casual league for anyone who just want to have a fun time can't deliever? You can of course have a playoff and a winner in a casual league, but don't see the point of making this part of the division system. In fact. A free league would benefit bad teams even more since they would have more fun and more even competetion. I'm happy to listen, but I haven't heard any good arguments yet, to be honest. Will stop spamming now

This is not only about me. Only representing someone who isn't part of a div 1 team. But yes of course. It dosen't feel very nice to be able to play div 1 hockey until october 2017. That is, if there isn't any setbacks and if one can assamble a team. Because like I said earlier, how easy will it be for new teams in div 3 to build something for the future with all the good players going to higher divisions? Don't get me wrong. I like the idea of divisions in a sense. However, I don't see why we need 3 divisions. If bad teams wanna play against other bad teams, why not open up a casual league for them to join? Problem solved. Why punish a lot of ok teams? Division 3 will not be enjoyable for anyone. If we wanna raise the bar for division 2 even further, we can have "play ins" to the division. That way we only get ambitious teams. Point is. There is a lot of good suggestions to use, instead of this pointless system that only takes up peoples time and energy.

Hello, me again. I have a question. In what way will having 3 divisions empowering new or lesser teams to become better? How are division 3 team suppose to get better from this? I'm afraid that it will be really hard to find good players in division 3. And even if you find one, it will be hard to keep them with the argument "play with us ... you get to play competitive in half a year". What is your thoughts? To me, this more looks like you want to close the league.

"Hello my name is Jesus. Do you want to come and play RW with our division 3 club?" Will be quite the challenge to find some good players for CoG lol OTP-free agent market it is, I guess ... Not a fan
  15. Perhaps. But Im pretty certain that we can expand the number of teams that will be able to compete in div 1. There is a lot of quaility out there. That must be our goal, right? I don't think the magical number is 16. Right now, I think there is 20 teams that could make for a exciting first division. I see no reason why they shouldn't be able to compete. Also keep in mind that a larger div 1 opens up for a more competetive and even division 2 since there will be more ok teams competing against each other and not elite teams crushing ok teams with a narrow div 1. It will also be really hard for newcomers in div 1 to establish themselfs if the division is so tight and closed. We have to give newcomers some sort of breathing room. This will make for a healthy league.
  16. We will. I'm not saying we shouldn't aim for competitive gaming. I'm saying that anything else than two divisions are contraproductive in order for us to achieve our goal. Do you think the team that drops out from division 2 will try to battle their way back to division 2? I think not. In fact I think that team will stop playing or dismantle all together. What we have to understand is ... Every team in this community matter. More than two divisions also makes it super hard to attract newcomers.
  17. It's a interesting thing. When the game we play gets more accessible with its features from the start, the community itselfs gets more restrictive and closed.
  18. You will still be able to compete against elite teams in the highest division. Your chasing something that isn't there. Things don't get more competetive and real only because we have 3-4 divisions instead of 2 divisions. In fact, you make things less exciting. There is nothing exciting about reaching division 2 or dropping out from div 2. You will only get worse teams in the bottom and less activity. . In fact, you kill competition. The only point with divisions is the gap between div 1 and 2. That we can try and we will! But hopefully, I hope the staff don't take it further than that since it will only hurt the community BIG TIME! Also. You act like this tournament is a fiasco. In a way it is, but in terms of activity and number of good teams it's a success. Much to be done to better this community. Divisions might be one thing, but definitely not the most urgent or vital change.
  19. I see a very one-sided debate here btw, with only top level teams expressing their feelings. Fact of the matter is. Your not the problem. You will play no matter what! 2/3 of the community are okay teams. We have to find the best solution for that group. If not, expect the future tournaments in this game series to be played on some obscure russian forum with 10 participants. Is that what you want? No, that is not what we want.
  20. It will still be competetive gaming whether it is 16, 20 or 30 teams in div 1. Bad teams will still take it in the butt, no matter the current division. The downside for shit teams placed in divison 3 is the fact that they will never be able to attract good players to their team hence they will never become better. Quite the opposite all good or ok players in bad teams will leave for teams in higher division leaving bad teams at the bottom for ever. As a consequence they will stop playing. Quick question. Do bad teams only wanna play against other bad teams? Do we know that? Depending on how Kenu and CO decides to formate this, new teams (for the most times teams consisting of veteran players) will also kill the competition in div 3, 4 or 5 if they have to go through the bottom division. What is the point? We also have to look at reality here and design the tournament format after that fact. Most teams are ok teams. If you look at this years tournament, there is maybe 4-5 teams that perhaps could have more fun in their own league. But the absolute majority will manage to compete in a midlevel-league. A suggestion could be. 20 teams in div 1 and 30-40+ teams in div 2 divided into two groups. To me, its much better to expand the existing two divisions based on number of teams, rather than the number of divisons. More than two divisions punish too many ok teams. It also slows down the process of expanding the league in number of activity and it achieves nothing. Believe me!
  21. Lol About the divisions. Two divisions, not three. More divisions than two will kill this community and destroy the possibility of new teams forming. Not the way to go!
  22. Yeah no I understand that we wont play with the likes of Crosby and kane. But I guess that the teams in the SC will have made up club names on the site? So why the need to use "private drop in" when you simply can challenge other clubs through the eashl club system? or maybe its the same thing? Kind of new to this game
  23. How is the team thing gonna work. I guess "private drop in" means Chicago vs San Jose etc?
  24. PSN: Ralfduran Position: Somwhere on the bench So yeah ... Im like 2000 years. My greatest memory is probably when I hid in that cave and everyone thought I was dead. Remember that? LOL! Anyways, don't pick me!
