I don't even participate in ECL, but reading posts here, this feels like a perfect replica of real life socialism.

Demand a lot of money to be part of a community. Waste it on absolute nonsense that doesn't actually benefit anyone outside of the "government", instead of on the people who actually financed everything.

Then when they have run out of money, ask for more and claim that "it will be different this time".

Sportsgamer needs capitalism and accountability.

Imagine buying something online, maybe a pair of jeans you’ve saved up for.
You pay. You get the confirmation. But nothing ever arrives. Weeks turn into months. No product. No refund.

That’s not just bad service, it’s illegal.
You’ve fulfilled your end of the agreement. They haven’t. In legal terms, keeping money without delivering what was promised is fraud. That’s a breach of contract.

Now look at SportsGamer.
They’ve collected player fees, promised prize payouts, and failed to pay winners for months, all while asking for more money for upcoming tournaments.
Even their own statement admits these payments are still pending, and they offer no concrete timeline.

This is not a delay. It’s not “cash-flow challenges.”
It’s taking people’s money under false pretenses, and that’s against the law.

If this happened anywhere else, it would already be under legal investigation.

Simple as that.

For years, this has looked like a scam targeting a community. I truly hope the authorities take a closer look soon. Kenu is traveling the world with money that isn’t his.

But sure, it’s always everyone else’s fault!

I can imagine the damage control behind the scenes.

Press release incoming; "We are sorry for not paying the prize money, it was the governments fault, not our shitty budgeting. We are working to pay for unpaid prize pools (Will not be actually paid). And also, we will not be having transparency because there privacy blah blah blah."

NG was amazing when it was a bunch of enthusiasts carrying on the Consolehockey legacy. Once the dollars entered the ring, things went downhill.

Anyways, great to see there are still many people around who are passionate enough to keep the legacy going. Personally I do not have the time to support anymore.

With everything already said, I personally want to thank Kenu for these years on nhlgamer/sportsgamer.

.......

Despite the darkness surrounding things now, there have still been moments of light here at Sportsgamer.

As many have already written, in the beginning this was actually quite good. But when the leadership behind the company started focusing on money coming in, and absolutely no money going out, they destroyed what once made this great. The legacy, the trust, and the community spirit — all of it disappeared under their ownership.

I want to be clear that I hope this situation is not something Kenu personally caused. I truly hope he is not the reason the scene has ended up like this.

I am now moving on to the other side of the scene, where something new and fresh is being built. Hopefully, I will bring my four teams with me.

I sincerely hope that the players you owe money to will eventually receive what they are owed. It is your responsibility to make that happen. If that is no longer possible, then you should seriously consider declaring the company bankrupt.

With that said, I hope others will follow. Because what truly matters here are the players, not those who tried to lead this.

If the focus had ever truly been on the players, I am convinced we would never have ended up in this situation.

Thank you, and best of luck.

Great post!! Agree everything on this.

I would like also to thank for the past tournaments this community I have participated. I have moved on to ITHL so people who move there also we play there again.

It was real sad the story of Sportsgamer has to end this way it did.

We want to thank everyone for the constructive feedback and the strong engagement in the recent discussions and survey.

We’re carefully reviewing your input internally, and we’re pleased to confirm that the ECL will continue. We remain fully committed to meeting our obligations and to delivering the same level of passion and dedication that this community has shown throughout the years. A more detailed update about the ECL and our next steps will be shared within the next couple of days.

We truly value the open dialogue that has taken place. Constructive discussion — grounded in facts and mutual respect — helps us move forward together.

We hear your concerns and understand the frustration — our priority is to communicate clearly and ensure that the next steps are built on trust and stability.

So basically you will keep living up to your own rules etc? You will keep the same sinking ship where you need us THE PLAYERS to pay for your mistakes yet again?

So many questions, and yet again ZERO answers regarding the questions that's actually asked by the community.

Direct questions requires direct answer...

-what is the current situation with the payments and what is the schedule for the payments

-do community have a chance to have full brief and proof where were money going and also i think the current owners are also accountable for the explanation

-what is SG or staff going to do about gaining trust back from the community.

Thats just not it after a week of communicating absolutely nothing, communicating with more nothing. So yeah, a "no" is enough said. Time to give someone else the Chance. SG bottled it.

Well they said that they review the survey answers , and then they send the answer that they have done it. They also said in that answer that they will say something about the next steps in couple of days. Like you i would like to have the answers that we are entitled imo , but just mocking the guy who posts these behind that username is just boring and useless imo.

My personal oppinion in this matter is that only 2 guys are to blaim and those are the new owners... Not staff , not kenu , not anyone else besides those 2 guys who runs this. They should be the guys who should be answering these questions and making some sense of this circus at the moment.
