will Pro have qualification series as well? Would like to see those last spots to be filled by playing the game (quals) than just watching who has the most Lite playoff wins from ECL9.

Well yeah if that's the case, the Summer Cup and it's meaning for this whole community, is not built with that kind of mindset. Maybe having two different kind of Summer tourneys next year could for help for this, but it's just a fact that majority of SC players are thinking the whole playing in summer different way.

The number one reason for the new draft format was the exact same you guys are writing about. Teams being unbalanced because of captains of some teams might not be that aware of the level of players he can draft. Now for an example, with this format the Lite captain is forced to draft one guy from Elite and one guy from Pro. In the previous drafts there have been lots of cases where the "Lite captain" has ruined his team in the first three rounds of the draft -> rip moti for those guys who know little bit more about the game and community than his future captain.
Now all teams will start from the same line, having certain basic structure for the draft. Atleast it will be closer to that than before. Obviously you can't say it's going to be 100% that way but in my eyes, this new format should help with this problem compared to the old format where the captain could do whatever he ever wanted. The result with that format was too many saunakaveri picks in the first rounds of the draft.
In the end it's not going to be that much different, really. It's just about having atleast three different level players in every team when the 3rd round of the draft starts.
Oh and by the way if it means anything to anyone - I've enjoyed the previous tournaments. But it can't hurt to try something new, to make it even more balanced and fun tournament for every player.

This would solve the problem pretty much but it's understandable why there's not that much Elite captains in Summer Cup. Then again some of the guys are talking about the problem like there's no solution for it - but there is. Read above. I'd be captain this summer but the draft day, well actually the whole weekend, is a huge no for me so :(.

Yeah it's pretty even right now, 19 for 1 and 13 for 2. The rest not commenting dont care, I dunno?
Both are fine because well, the SC is not that serious hockey after all. But personally I'd like to see some change after three, same kind of tournaments. Obviously it's not changing the whole format but I really think that the Elite/Pro/Lite system would bring new taste for the SC and make the tournament even more balanced than before, which would be nice. Some (mostly elite) players reached me during the previous Cups (even though I wasn't in the NG Staff) about the bullshit that happens when he gets drafted to the team where the captain is maybe not that aware of the community.
Result? They saw their team in the draft -> rip moti. And this is no bullshit, this has happened to lots of guys, and you dont have to be even Elite player to get into this situation.
Option #2 is not an end of the world but... it's Summer Cup. Like, it's not hurting anyone to try something new once a year.
If there's any and I mean any kind of new ideas, bring em to the table.

Vegas: The only player I could imagine in that role is Karlsson but he just signed short bridge-deal & has only one season behind in leading role. Pretty sure Fleury would be their C if goalie was an option. Other options are new guys Statsny & Pacioretty so not natural choices, plus Pacioretty probably didn't enjoy his C-time in Montreal. If they decide to keep Karlsson & sign him for 7-8 years, think he'll end up being the guy with C on his chest.
Vancouver: Being a captain in canadian team is perhaps not the easiest job in the league especially after Sedins being the leaders out there. They will probably want to wait and see how everything goes with Pettersson but I'd say Bo Horvat would be the best option for them. Edler is one good candidate as well but not sure that do they want to make 32 year old their captain when there's younger guys leading their ship already.
Well timed article as the October is perhaps the best time to remind every C and A out there that what their jobs are in the ECL. Good stuff!
My two cents for captains: remember to share your duties with your alternates. Doesn't matter what it is, it'll help you a lot when there's reliable guys working with you for your team.

Guys, I'm pretty sure nobody hates you. You're great team, hell, one of the best teams of nextgen and NHLGamer era. That just doesn't give you any special treatment when such things needs to be decided. It's nothing personal - unless you want it to be like that.

Tbh, with or without Bugimir, we were not able to play on Wednesday or thursday. We didnt have six players, our back ups were unavailable. What I can do then? We just didnt have six players. Case closed.
Back-up players? HAR5KI and Januri? First is just Harski who is pure fill player on your roster and Januri is in the army. Cut the bullshit and stop blaming others for your issues. JohtajaVirtanen played in playoffs but sometimes you need more than one guy, or more than 6 players, to play this god damn game.
Get real boys.
