  2. Yes this is what I also thought that it was a misunderstanding all along from our end, I have never questioned your integrity or you not being a fair-play team. Thats why I said i'm sorry for last night. Thats nice to hear bud and yeah I can see that you have a rivalry going on there, I suspect there will be a lot of other german teams coming up as well! Yes, see I don't think you have to leave the game if its under 10 mins left in the third. I would see us quitting every time if it happens in the first 40mins though. But I guess there is different "codes" for this too.
  3. So, I just arrived at work and while here is nothing to do I decided to open up a little bit again. I have got some good feedback and some negative feedback from these posts, as it should be, I just find it nice that you have actually made your way down here and read this series. The weird thing is though that people mix it up with the skill of our team being bad as shit because I am writing about the GM struggles. While we definitely aren't the best team out there we aren't the worst team either. But I can't expect everybody to know us and that's fine. But I can't see the connection about opening up and telling people out loud about GM struggles how you relate that to the team being bad? I mean GM's can probably relate how crazy off season can be and what goes down with the daily running of a team. And that is what this post is about, the daily running of a team and my personal opinion of how crazy it is in my perspective and opening up about it. If you have a problem with it just don't continue after these words Lets go back to what this topic is really about.. Last night, amazing. One game we had some bad bounces against us but else it was a good night of gaming. A couple of days ago one of our forwards decided to leave for another team, we couldn't offer him all of the games in the upcoming tournament as we are trying to rotate on our lineup. Ideally, in the wildest dreams, you want a lineup of just 6 players working on that chemistry but because this isn't professional in any means and you actually can't play 24/7 you have to have some extra players to rotate. I envy teams who have big lineups and because they have played so long together everybody on the team knows how you play, that is the GM's dream, just to put 6 players available in there and the results are the same no matter what lineup. Okay, just because last night was amazing doesn't mean its going to be that today or tomorrow, so its time to push down the expectations to my teammates. Not that I wanna take anything away from last night but some nights gaming ist just going great as shit and some nights its just shit. We played Rusty Blades last night and there was a episode of "watching the replays" after goals being scored. As behalf of our team, I am sorry @Tanski87. We all know it can be annoying as shit and sometimes when your players are boiling in the dressing room its just better to not go for a rematch and start building some bad blood because from our side we really like you guys but last night I took a executive decision and decided not to play you again just because some hotheads in our party were boiling. Of course, maybe at first it isn't on purpose and maybe that was your case but it is very childish of us to response when we score to watch just to get back even though maybe it wasn't on purpose but of course after that its just a rally, it gets hot in games and you just work through it. Maybe you guys are making a highlight video and you need the replays but our guys wasn't just in the mood yesterday of watching replays. I am truly sorry for that. I have been thinking about rivalries in this game and can think of some of course but I just don't feel/know there are a lot of them? I can imagine the veterans like NOS and 112 have a rivalry and I can imagine @MartindalexC you can enlighten me of any other rivalries? Maybe you guys have some? What other rivalries are there? Shouldn't we be hyping these rivalries even more around the forums or during ECL, make it like a game of the week or something or "Rivalry Night" like NHL does it? Rivalries are bittersweet and add the extra spice to the game, I know some games are just even more annoying to lose and after those games you don't feel like saying much. Generally that is good that you don't say anything after if it isn't positive that you have to say because then we can avoid the personal jumps that we still see on these forums and some guys like to work on. Of course, It happens in every day gaming that you get annoyed and maybe its a bad bounce or just a bad penalty that leads to a goal deep in the second overtime. Here in Sweden I find it a little bit of a prestige thing when you face another Swedish team, the majority of the teams are Finnish so when you do get a Swedish team your hands maybe sweat a little bit extra. The time from when the registration started to the time that we actually get ECL 6 going is long as hell. This is the time when the last movements are made between teams and while its fun to see some movement you also wish there would be more permanent rosters in teams. But as long as this is just a hobby we can't expect anything better to happen. You can't decide for someone else that you have to play with that guy, you are going to get into arguments especially because we aren't doing this for our living and you can shut down the PS4 anytime you want. But I have big respect for teams who have had their core stay the same for years! Then there is always going to be one player on some team that just might wake up with the feeling "I have a dream..." and wants to be the captain and put together something own. That ain't really bad either though, you might do it because you want to play with an irl-friend who hasn't played the game for that long and you want to do something with him just that he could have a chance playing in the ECL. That is nice, more players to the community means more teams and that is just great. I think its good that we criticise our league system if it is to try to make it better. It is not perfect but maybe some day it will be fair to everybody, we would have less complaints and a better flow. So my advice is that when you do criticise, motivate why you are criticising so that we together can make it better. There is now a lot of staff here with different roles and eyes on everything so if you don't want to adress your concern in public you can always message somebody of the staff in a private message. There is staff that does a lot of work for the community and has been doing it for a long time, @Kenu, @The_Alpha_Furyan, @Lurkins, @gzell60 and @Ranksu to name a few. They don't get paid to do anything, they just try to make something everybody enjoys to be around, so those who just play and complain, my advice to you is, TALK TO SOMEBODY about your concern and watch your language before you say anything stupid. We have members of both genders in this community and its important to remember that going forward. Have a nice weekend boys and girls! br, chavelski
  4. Monarchs Looking for a player that can play multiple positions, mainly defense. We will be playing in the pro division. Contact chavelski here or psn.
  5. Tonight we sucked! Okay, we didn't have our regular lineup and had a couple of players borrowed from the community but still. You know those nights you don't get any bounces, you do stupid mistakes and everything you do turns into a failure. Well, tonight was one of those nights. I wouldn't recommend to right away when you've stopped playing EASHL to go directly to HUT, don't do it, it literally makes you wanna cut your PS4 into two pieces and you are quickly reminded why you don't play Hut in the first place. I mean you control the game, have over the twice of amount of attack nevertheless shots, but because your still in that EASHL mindset you won't remember that Hut is about the glitches and other kind of scoring that a human goalie never lets in. So writing this i'm pretty annoyed, maybe i'm taking the game too seriously or maybe its just human nature but oh boy this game is truly a love/hate relationship. Lets get back on track. This series of posts isn't supposed to be whining about other game modes or the game. I mean, we are at a NHLGamer forum, it means somewhere deep down everybody has a passion for the game which is truly nice to see. Oh, I wish the community would have been this big when you grew up, well there wasn't internet in the beginning so that explains a lot but still, wish I would have found myself here about 7-8 years ago. Maybe it would have changed my life in some way, maybe there was a weekend when there could have been sixes lined up but instead you went out with your friends and met new people and those people changed your life so you maybe moved somewhere where you normally wouldn't have thought of. Funny how life works. Still I would say i'm happy for the 95% of my time, those 5% thats missing i'm playing NHL and getting smoked with my friends when your thinking you shouldn't be losing this game. But again, if you were happy all the time and winning all the time, wouldn't it take away the good feeling when you actually surprise a team or something works out what you didn't expect to happen? Okay lets try one more time. We have had some roster changes. First of all I kicked a player for inactivity. I mean if you can't engage to play for more than one night every other week then your not seeing the game I see it. So I had to make a cut. It was difficult because this player had been a part of my team a longer time and always been a guy I could count on, but now there was something missing, maybe it was the passion for this game because he had the time to play other games. Maybe it was the new players on the team that made him feel uncomfortable, I don't know. Its stupid to speculate but in this case I had to make a decision to cut him, the inactivity wasn't fair against the other members and for every day that went by it was harder and harder to insert him in your plans. I don't know how you other GM's do in these kind of things where you have a player, he is clearly not in it by full heart and the times he is available to play you kind of feel that no, he is going to take our gaming down a notch and that is not the thing you want to do when your preparing for the upcoming league. But then again you need backups, hell, I felt it tonight where I had to take in two players only for to get some games going. I really don't like that, because they don't count as "your wins" when you win against a good team because there was that one guy that shouldn't have played for them and he was a difference maker. Weird, I just always get that feeling when you have a freelancer jumping in. Still though, on the other side you get games going and by playing you get better, but its not a team thing you know. After a short while after I cut the player, I found him getting active again for another team, it kinda pissed me off, I mean, where the hell were you all this time? But then on the other side, i'm happy for him, good that he is playing again regularly and don't know, maybe our paths will cross again. So the designated backup forward wasn't there no more, well time to move on with the guys we have and maybe with some passive searching well find someone perfect for the designated role. A few days after I woke up with a message. Our defender has decided to quit the team. God fucking damnit. He explained it with that he feels we don't play him the puck often because we are scared to share him the puck so that he doesn't mess anything up. Okay, I understand him on that point because unconsciously we weren't playing him the puck when he was open because we felt that he is going to do something that is going to hurt the team in that game. I feel kind of shame but on the other side I don't. Of course there is the aspect of being left out and the team not trusting you isn't a fun environment in the long run. But in other hand, isn't the most important thing that the team wins? I know for a fact there is players who just loves racking up points game after game and i'll admit that I love having a hattrick instead of the famous "kiikarit", "ugglorna" or any other terms there is for being left out of the scoresheet. But I really don't care as long as we have won the game and I need to have five other guys in the lineup with that mindset or else we can just fold straight away. But thats only human too, it doesn't matter is it on the ps4 or in the real NHL, there is players who live for points and that is basically just a mindset. And of course, if a player racks up points it means your getting goals and that helps your team to win. But still, we need to be on the same page to make it work. Funny how this business here on NHLGamer works. Your sitting with a open spot in the lineup and for a few days, maybe weeks, nothing. Nobody is interested or the players you are getting contacted by aren't interesting enough. So you try out some players for a while, but you still have that suspicion that is this going to work when the going gets tough? So after trying out a couple of defenders a interesting person came to tryout one night. I made a party with him and boy, we clicked right away. We talked, we laughed, were on the same page how this game is supposed to be played. He seemed like a good guy, I like him. The only thing is that he speaks english and the rest of us speak swedish, but we were desperate and we needed to fill the spot. It'll work though was my thoughts, I mean i'd prefer he spoke swedish but this will do. Then there's the little suspicion, okay, he checked on the part of being a good guy and the other guys are going to like him to, what about his gaming? How is that gonna be, so I begged, please let him be a player who can play this game, even a little bit, the rest we can work on was the thoughts going through my head. So the night of gaming, he joined the party a bit before and clicked straight away with all of our other members. I messaged some of my guys and they thought the same thing, what a nice fella to have around. So we started playing. Okay, he is not Paul Coffey but he is not Marek Malik either, okay so he is somewhere in between, we can work with this. The first night he played ok. Then came the second night and he played even better. Nice, this is going to be a nice "unknown" pickup. So then after we got done gaming I asked quickly my guys "what you think?" "Should we sign him?" and all the members were for it. So he asked me in the party, should I still try-out with some other teams or? So I told him that no, we like you and we want you to be a part of our team. So we signed him. Then came the next day. I heard some buzzing about a team that were going to fold and a few hours later I got a message. "Yo, so my team disbanded...". THIS CANNOT BE HAPPENING!!!! The guy who messaged me was a original member, he was there when we first started it back in the summer and I played on that team that disbanded, were over at his house a month ago partying so I know this guy very well. And of course, I like the shit out of him. So there I am with my new defender in one hand, just told him that yes we are going with you welcome to the team. And in the other hand I had a friend, of course playing the same position, active as hell and of course speaks swedish.......... Because that's what you want right, friends in a party hopefully speaking the same language playing video games. So I talked to a teammate, I felt I needed to do this quickly and not drag this out. My fellow member said hell yes but what about the defender we just signed? "I know, I said." So I went to the new guy, told him, listen, there is no easy way to say this but here is the facts " a original member has decided to join....". So I kicked the new signing before the press conference. Damn, what a shitty move by me but it had to be done. In the long run it had to be done and then there was the fact I couldn't say no to this guy, he was everything we had searched for the whole damn time. I told the new signing after I told him the bad news that I am really sorry it had to go this way and were hoping to get a polite response, well I didn't not get that I can tell. The first reaction was "What the fuck? You kicked me out of the team?" Yes, I am sorry, it has nothing to do with your playing skills or your personality because I really liked you on both fronts. "Fuck you", he wrote. Then I said I understand that you feel that way but it was not personal and I am sure you will get a new team in a heartbeat because your a good player and a even better guy. To that he responded "Fuck off" and theres that. I know this might change my perception to some of you guys out there but sometimes you have to make the tough call, even though this turned out really shitty I still find pride in that I let him know straight away instead of dragging it out and not confront this guy. Just be honest, tell whats on your mind but do it with respect to the other person and try to be polite, don't take it too personally if he thinks your a complete asshole in the heat of the moment but if you can be the "bigger person" and still answer it with a polite answer, someday that person might look back at the thing and say he is sorry he overreacted as it turned out in this case also. The next day this guy messaged me and told he was sorry. I said I understand. Things happen in the heat of the moment. I also told him that I will try to get him a new team and wrote a recommendation to a couple of teams about this player. I started writing this post about 44 minutes ago and damn I feel better again. The bad results tonight don't seem so bad after all. For me, talking about things works and I am sure there is a lot of people who are the same way. Ive seen at least 5 teams that have been created and folded only during this break between ECL 5 and ECL 6 and a lot of the response I have gotten has helped me understand that is about the daily grind, no matter if you don't have success every night, come back tomorrow and try to make the most of it. A lot of things happen very quickly in this industry but don't let small things get in your way.
  6. We have tried @Lainzndr, trust me. But the thing is that they just love playing with the bot goalie.
  7. Monarchs looking for a couple of players, any position. Contact me here or psn.
  8. Tack Pato, I feel we don't do so much of that possesion in our own zone, but if it was so in that game I apologize, though we aren't just gonna give the puck away just because the other team is more skilled. But of course, we aren't here to kill the game either so thank you for your feedback and I will take it under advicement . #fittspeluknow
  9. I woke up today with a smile on my face. Last night was a good day of gaming and I was reminded of it when I looked at my phone, teammates sharing my opinion of the games last night. That felt good, we have had a good stretch the last couple of weeks but still it is good that you share your opinion with the teammates where we stand right now. Lets back up a few weeks. During the christmas break we decided with our teammates that we are going to grind out a lot of games and boy did we grind. I think we played almost 150 6vs6 games during a span of 14 days. And no, it wasn’t always with our regular lineup but most of the times it was. I think we have played Rusty Blades almost 20 times this month, and SKY being a good second with 10 matches or so. Its hard though, while you can’t put too much weight on those results still i think we have improved, but the hell should I know, its only me looking through black and red glasses, ECL is going to be different right? I mean it has to be ? How can I know the opponents we met were as focused as we do? They definetly are more focused come ECL time compared to a 1am boxing day scrabble? Yes, most definetly. We have tried to form a identity as a team and after all these games I would suspect we have formed one. You always have that one goofeball in the party asking ”Is there any idea in how we play?” or ”How should we play?”. I find the question frustrating. Like what do you mean, like Hardy Nilssons Torpedo hockey? Or Jacques Lemaire trap that he used in Devils back in their glory days. Okay, I get where you are coming from but instead of trying to paint the whole picture in party 30 seconds before the game, just try to focus on some key points before the game and during the game. For example, don’t cheat from your own zone, try to locate where you are going to pass before you get the puck in your own zone etc, don’t get caught with the passing button on lock etc. All of these things we do are going to form good habits that you rely on in the future and form your gamestyle. But you have to adapt to your opponent, we can’t have the same gameplan against a Elite team where we have minimal puck possesion or if we meet a Lite team where we have a lot of puck possesion. I think you would find our team annoying and frustrating to play against, we are not going to play a hawaii type of game against SKY or Rusty etc because what would that give us? First of all we get a loss, then you get the frustration in the party, the so called silence treatment ”the fittspel” etc. So everytime we play these teams we are going to rely on our defense. I am sorry if we are annoying the shit out of you but this is the type of game we have to play right now in order to be successful. We are not playing to lose nor are we playing it to be entertaining. Wins boost confidence and the more you win the more fun you have. There has been struggles of course too, we are still lacking a right defenseman and we have had a couple of guys trying out, but we are yet to find out the perfect fit. But the aftermath of my last post was very encouraging. You just need to hang in there and grind it out. And as of right now we have done that, worked every day to be as prepared as we can be. I am satisfied with that.. Right now. But in this business we all know it can change so fast. One day you get a message that says ”I am leaving the team.” It happens, nothing you can do about it. But you can’t give up just because you have a set back or two. Where would be the challenge in that if you just put together 6 players and everybody think the same about everything and you would just win everything straight away? Would it be fun, probably for a while. But what do I think is fun in this NHL gaming? I would say when we play again tonight and I see where we have come since day 1, that has to be the part as a GM that is most fun, it makes you wake up with a smile in the morning.

  15. I'm laying in my bed, girlfriend snoring, can't sleep because i'm thinking of what a bad day of gaming we had today. I don't know was it just me trying to adjust in my new position as center or was it just the team that was unfocused. I don't know, it was just one of those nights. At around 2 am i hear the sound of my mail sound buzzing on the phone and i'm thinking, okay, maybe it's the goalie responding to me on NHLGamer. I'm too excited, I jump out of bed and get my phone. The mail was okay, mixed signals with the typical same response, "Sounds good, but I don't know about Lite...". It was the fifth message in two days that started of the same. Very well, I gotta stay positive so I answer politely "Sure, I understand, best of luck mate". The clock is around 2.15am, and I'm thinking okay, I got smoked by Adetikki on draws 2-19 two nights ago so maybe ill look a game of NOR and SKY, two good guys at faceoffs, ade and rhöse. So I watch the games. Now the clock is 2.45 and I need to be at work at 6am. Okay, so I decide go to the gym, while doing gym I go through the mails I've sent to different players during the week, most of them, no response, but sure, they played in the pro division last year so they probably are better at life and don't have time to answer mails coming from a team in Lite. Different thoughts going through my head, how the hell am I supposed to keep the guys happy when I cant fill the whole roster, one of the members lives in the same city. I gotta go to his house today and try to convice him to stay, " don't worry man, just have faith, everything is going to be alright and we will fill our last roster spots and be a contender in Lite ". In somewhat of that are the words I am going to tell him today. I have to do it, this is the second time around i'm trying to get this to work and hopefully he'll buy into this. At around 4.30am i'm back from the gym, drink my morning coffee, I log on to NHLGamer, no notifications, argh. I post a poll in our facebook group, "Play tonight?" it says, I post it almost everyday, I just love playing sixes and the guys I got here love to do it too but I just gotta check if everybodys available tonight. Two weeks ago I was visiting a fellow NHLGamer that I've gotten to know, on the other side of the country with some of my ex teammates. We had a blast, the voices turned into faces and it was like you knew them even though you never seen them before, of course, you talk to someone on party for several months you get to know one another. Some of the same guys stick around, some don't, but ultimately your trying to find those that you like to be in party with, that think the same and are on the same skill level, because if they aren't you are going to feel it every time you do a mistake and that leads to a silence in the party and you just know, I fucked up and he is pissed of at me. You can do it for some time but in a longer period it is going to affect and you don't get back out of that freezer when the other one has labeled you, its raw but that is what competitiveness is all about. Some can handle it, some can't and in the long run you have to find 5 guys that brings the harmony of everyday gaming, it doesn't matter if you screw up, he is not going to think anything less of you, your still friends. Every time we meet a better opponent from Elite or Pro, a fire lights up in the party and everybody gets pumped up, "alright boys, we got this, come on, lets do it". Maybe somehow you get a win, but if you meet these guys 10 times, your going to win max 2 out of 10. So then the next day, we meet a less established Elite team and boom, we get smoked, everybody is feeling sad and worthless and you as a GM are saying something like, no no no, this doesn't mean anything, we just have to get back on that horse tomorrow and continue our practice. But that is the tough part, how do you get the guys motivated and not to leave the team and join some more established team? That is the toughest task I think. There is teams that have stayed together since 2010, respect. I mean, I played the game back then but had not so ever any idea of there being competitive eashl gaming, so it saddens me sometimes to see when new people come to the scene and some people just are being rude and unpolite to them because they are "setelis" and what so ever. I can't see this being any of any benefit because aren't we all here trying to grow the game. Of course, I can't put everyone under this label because my friend, one of the nicest guys I know, a newly crowned winner of ECL Elite has been around the last six months and giving pointers day in and day out, introduced me to some new people and got my name around there. And you know what the funny part about this is? Six months ago I had no clue this guy existed. Of course, everybody can't like everybody, that's life and it is always going to be like that. You can't force anyone to play with someone if they don't want to, because we all are doing this out of the love of the game and obviously you wanna get the full experience of togetherness of playing sixes with guys you enjoy being around with. I certainly do not like everybody, and I am pretty sure my finnish accent when I am trying to speak swedish annoys the shit out of some people, but you know that's life. I am going to make a resolution for the upcoming year, I am going to try to be more nice to people around the community no matter what skill level they are on and I wanna put out a couple of extra thank yous to players around the scene who everyday makes me glad being part of this experience. @Casper, @cHIIMEERa, @Kenu, @The_Alpha_Furyan, @Zalaz, @pajenc, @Bjono and those one I forgot. Best regards, chavelski
