NHLGamers, We’re a passionate community of gamers and fans that are constantly growing - it’s with great pleasure we tonight announce the first Danish traditional sports club to join the ECL! Herlev Eagles will effective immediately be assuming the place of Kouvola Screaming Eagles in ECL Pro. KSE is a team with history dating back to ECL 5, when they debuted in the Lite division. The team recently gained promotion to the Pro level and has been giving competition a run for their money so far into their first season at that level. We reached out to team captain Oliver @oSandello Sandell for some comments regarding the contract: How was the contact with Herlev initiated and what factors attracted you to the club the most? “Without a doubt, we can give all credit to our Danish superstar Martin @vibholm10 Vibholm. He has represented Herlev in multiple Danish championships with great success, which gave us a line of communication to the organisation. He also used to play real hockey in their second team. The rest of the team was really excited when Martin came to us with this idea of putting together the first professional Danish NHL esports team, and it all went smoothly from there. Furthermore, both sides agreed that a Danish eagle species combining with Finnish eagles could only be a good thing.” As you'll now be representing an organisation, how do you think it will resonate with your gameplay and mentality, if at all? “I don't think we will change anything gameplay wise. We have always prided ourselves with solid team play and will continue to play the same brand of hockey. Mentality wise this was obviously a great boost to the team morale. It feels great to know that the organisation has put faith in our talent, and we are looking forward to showing that we are worthy of their investment.” "Our entry into esports contributes to strengthening and expanding the foundation on which we have worked purposefully to build over the past few years. It provides increased opportunities for both sponsorship revenue and creating a greater community around Herlev Eagles. This basically helps to strengthen our brand and make us even stronger." - Statement by Herlev Eagles Herlev Eagles Herlev Eagles is a Danish hockey club founded in 1968. The team has been competing at the highest tier in the nation (with some stints in lower divisions) for a majority of their history. In 2019-2020, the Eagles were on track for one of their most successful seasons in recent history, but due to the pandemic their eventual playoff push was cut short.17 points

With the game being as uncompetitive as it is, and having matches where even the most lopsided matches can be taken to overtime on such a regular basis, we should never have a 3-2-1-0 point system. Otherwise we'd have bunch of underdog teams stealing singular points from the top teams just by placing a bus in front of their net through out regulation and going for harpoon attacks. It could also result into a situation in which the better teams would have to go for all out attack to secure full 3 points after playing a very frustrating even game, just to get downed to 0 points due to last minute bounces and other cheesy plays. If we want to encourage teams to be active and play as aggressively through out the game as they would in the first period, we'd have to consider 2-0 point system in which the winner gets 2 points and loser gets 0 despite whether the game is decided in regulation or OT. Anyhow, there would be certain faults with this system as well.5 points

A win is a win. I think it would be wrong to cut off points for an OTW, especially when the game lasts 15min.3 points

Not sure a 3 point system awards attacking. On the opposite I do believe the team that has the one goal lead plays even more defensive in order to protect those points. There is a charm to that as well but not sure it leads to more goals. OT is also in general less exciting since both teams already lost one point each. Think 2 point system is good since there is a playoff as well. Makes the group stage a bit tighter.2 points

NHLGamers, We're reminding you that tomorrow, April 23rd at 23:59:59 CET is the deadline for transfers in ECL Pro, Lite, and Neo. We previously had the 22nd as the last day for Pro but have decided to give Pro one more day for transfers in line with Lite and Neo. The ECL Elite transfer deadline is on Tuesday, April 28th. Please remember to make sure your trades are in line with the rulebook before making them and check with support if you aren't sure. Remember, only one transfer per player is allowed per season - unless the player has played 0 games (overall, for any team) the entire season, which is covered in rule 14.11. If you're a player still looking for a team or a team still looking to add to your roster, please head to the Free Agents section or the Clubs Looking For Players section on our forum. Please post any last-minute transfers in the comments section below so everyone can enjoy them.1 point

I don't really care which way points are counted as the better teams will still prevail and the worse teams won't. I don't really know if the assumption that "teams play it safe" is correct either. If it is an even match-up with teams battling for the same position, why would you want to give points to the opponent rather than deny them of points by winning in regular time? And if the skill gap is bigger (top vs bottom), the worse team would still try to salvage at least a point. One solid argument for a 3p win is that there would be the same amount of points up for grabs in each game, regardless of whether or not it goes to OT. But as I said, I'm indifferent on the topic.1 point

But adding a point to regular win isn't cutting off anything it only adds a point.0 points
