  1. Hi NHLGamers, We are back with a small look into the first week into the Pro division. Last season we ran a team of the week segment, but this season we are mixing it up a bit as we now try to highlight one player, whose week was outstanding. In addition to this, we will make also a small interview with our nominee and try to get to know him better and maybe get some insights of the team or some kind of a trash talk. Without further ado we would like to present you our first Player Of The Week: @kriketski17 PSN-ID: kriketsi17 Team: The Next Gen Position: Center Games played this week: 6 (vs Speedy Bros Hockey, Black Horse and Raccoon Rampage) Goals: 8 Assists: 10 Points: 18 +/-: 13 Our writer @Panarinz was sent out to get a few comments from this weeks main man: Hi @kriketski17, Lets start of with a recap of the first week. How do you think the start of ECL 8 has been for you personally and for your team The Next Gen? - We had a good week but personally I can still bring a lot more to the table. What is goal for this season, both team and individual? - To win the Pro title and personally I want to be the best forward in Pro. How did you come up with your PSN ID kriketsi17? - Cant remember anymore In your opinion, what is the best player build in this version of the game? - It depends on what kind of player you are. In attack I prefer using a two way forward or a power forward. On defense, the grinder and two way defenseman are my go-to's. What is your biggest strength as a player? - My understanding of the game. Finally, the question everyone wants an answer to: Which team will win ECL 8 Pro? - Hopefully us or Gotham Knights. We thank Kriketsi17 for his answers and wish him and his team the best of luck for the rest of the season! It will be interesting to see if Kriketsi17 can continue that success and lead his team through the next weeks. We all know how a center has to be that game-changer in all three zones. Did we get the pick right, which other players would have deserved to get mentioned here? Let us know in the comment section! Signing off for now, ECL Pro writing team @Panarinz and @Mannheimer1938

  3. NHLGamers, A week has been played in the ECL Lite division and we in the ECL Lite Writing Team have decided to choose a player of the week, making it a weekly thing. This weeks player has shown a lot of individual skill and managed to rack up a total of 40 points in just 6 games during the first week of competition in ECL 8 Lite. The guy we’re talking about is @Basstian23 (JaromirSniper68) and down below you can see his stats this past week. PSN-ID: JaromirSniper68 Team: Dynamic Position: Center Games played this week: 6 (vs HC Slapshot, Slapshot Club Germany and Niederrhein Canucks) Goals: 15 Assists: 25 Points: 40 +/-: 19 I sat down with JaromirSniper68 and asked him a few questions: You have been awarded this weeks Player of the week award. How do you feel about that? - I’m very happy. I would like to thank my teammates. Without them, this wouldn't have happened. Describe yourself as a player. - I would say that I’m a skilled two way player who sees the ice very well. I consider myself more of a passer. I'd rather pass for an open net for my teammate than take the shot. Why does it work out so well for you? - It’s about my teammates. They’re making it easy for me to score and to get assists. To be honest though, the opponents so far haven’t been the best and I have so much more to show. A BIG thank you to JaromirSniper68 who took the time and answered our questions. As the season moves on and the opponents get tougher, it'll be exciting to follow the progress of JaromirSniper68. It'll remain to be seen if Dynamic can stay in form and the man himself can keep scoring. Until next time! On behalf of the ECL Lite Writing Team, @Willander97

  7. Hello NHLGamers, For this season of ECL Elite we are tweaking the recurring segment that looks to detail the ‘hottest’, ‘coldest’ and… ‘mildest’? teams in Elite over the past week. There will be more of an emphasis towards the quantitative approach, so expect more graphs and fewer walls of text. Each article in this series will be released on Mondays and will thusly be based on the days in between each power ranking iteration. In addition to this it should be noted that each ranking will invariably be in some way biased as it is, at the end of the day, a subjective list. Note: Each article will be based off of results starting from the Monday, all the way up to (& including) Friday. Ergo, any games played over the weekend will generally end up being a week 'late' so to speak. The logic behind the ranking is admittedly a sort of internal subjective ranking that weighs up results, opposition 'strength' as well as thoughts on the general play during some games. As such a ranking is not 100% quantifiable in nature there will be some bias that creeps in. One thing I would like to make abundantly clear however is that points are not the be all and end all within these rankings; for instance, just because 3 teams have the same record does not mean they won't be ranked wildly differently, as the context behind said results are of great importance and simply cannot be understated. 1. Written in the Stars (6-0-0) 2. AIK Hockey (3-1-0) 3. Unlucky Boys (3-2-1) 4. Team Frosty (3-1-0) 5. Butterfly Effect (2-1-1) 6. Bucketeers (3-3-2) 7. Symphony (3-3-0) 8. Deadly Phantoms HC (2-1-1) 9. Resurrection (3-1-2) 10. HC Wildcard (3-3-0) 11. Northern Stars (2-2-2) 12. Dynasty (1-1-0) 13. Synergy Hockey (1-2-1) 14. Rusty Blades (2-2-2) 15. Almost Famous (1-3-0) 16. FILADELPHIA (0-0-0) Standings Timeline *The "playoff cut-off point", as well as the "relegation zone" lines are rough estimations of where the respective areas of Elite will fall once the regular season has been wrapped up. So, in other words, if a team is able to get over the green line, they 'should' stand a very good chance of making the playoffs, whilst if a team cannot make it past the red line, then there is a good chance that they will have to fight a relegation battle in order to assure their Elite spot for next season. Analysis Anyway, on to the mess. As I'm sure you can see, this early into the season teams have not been afforded the chance to really differentiate themselves from each other, as such it is generally pretty tough to spot many teams as they overlap with each other. That said, there are some things we can pick out. Namely, Written In The Stars are already the only team still unbeaten in regulation (sans FILA who are yet to play at all), quite an anticlimactic feat given that most teams have only played 4-6 games. Additionally, we can see that Bucketeers have clearly dispelled any notion that they would not be ready for Elite, as they have stormed out of the block and posted a very respectable point per game average over 8 games. Sure, at that pace they're unlikely to make the playoffs, however it certainly offers up the opportunity for them to make a run at a playoff berth, a position I'm sure that they're more than happy to be in right now. As far as slow starts go though, there seems to be quite a heavily amount of parity at the moment as all teams (who have played), already have at least a win on the board. If we have to name and shame however, the most anaemic start would go to Almost Famous who are currently 1-3-0, not great, but even this would put them on pace for 15pts which is should be alarming for those from the AF side, yet they've played just 4 games, so do not read too much into this at the very moment. - With that all of this in mind, we are now finished for the first edition of ECL 8 Elite's power rankings. Next time we'll have a projection and a (belated) prediction of how the standings will fall once the dust has settled, as well as (hopefully) more trends to discuss. ECL Elite Writer @MartindalexC

  9. I have no clue how the eashl connection works. But I do know that my router pings a server in California for eashl. I think this has to do with stats etc. If I try to geo-filter just europe I get stuck in dr. But then the router tells me its peer connection, and I can also see my teammates ISPs. If it was only a dedicated server, why would my router care for teammates isps hmm. I contacted ea about the californian server but they had no clue. Their response was that different countries connect to different servers. And my 24ms in-game shows up as 54ms on my router, so apparently that is also bullshit. To sum it up...nobody seem to know how this shit works.

  10. The second guy up in our Ten Days of Raccoons series is our assistant captain EemilK02. @Eemil, who in case if you wonder is from Somero, is the team’s left side defenseman. Eemil is undoubtedly the most offensive minded defenseman in the team and likes to support attacks to create great scoring chances. Eemil isn’t really known to often hold on to the puck for too long but wants to be the guy creating chances with his zone passes and drop passes. If he has hard time finding ways to make plays, he raises his confidence levels by for example, listening to music, or even singing, which he has shown a lot of flashes of. Eemil is the team’s true jester, who likes to make fun of everything. “I would rather commit suicide than having to go to Lapland” is something you may get from his mouth. When asked about the reason he chose to play as a defenseman, he directly stated: “because the other guys don’t know how to.” Overall, Eemil is an energetic but a kind guy who would not even hurt a dead fly. As a player, what do you want to bring to Raccoon Rampage? Youth and potential. As an assistant captain I should be able to lead by example, which I hope I’ve succeeded with and I’m able to do it in the future as well. How long have you been playing EASHL for, and do you have any previous experience from ECL? I have Pro experience from two seasons. In ECL 5 I played fairly 20 games as a forward, and last season I was a regular with the Rampage. I’ve also played in two Summer Cups where I didn’t get much ice time. Before that I have only played with my friends for fun. What do you think are the team’s expectations for ECL in the future? Personally, I see a lot of potential in this team. We’re a very young group of guys and we have been able to challenge some very good teams. A promotion to the Elite would be our next goal. What areas of your game would you like to develop in the future? The first pass and other abilities you need to have to become a great defenseman. Of course, to become a great defenseman also requires lots and lots of good training and experience as well. What do you think are the key factors that should lead Raccoon Rampage to the success? Small roster size, so that the game won’t change a whole lot when playing with the same guys all the time. Who do you view as the rival team of Raccoon Rampage? Speedy Bros Hockey with a few friendly names on their roster always brings that extra urge to beat them every time. And finally, what’s the purpose of the vacuum cleaner while playing EASHL? I hope you meant my mother who vacuums and not you “vacuuming the pucks in”. But the sound of a vacuum cleaner has become so important factor during my EASHL playing time that it has now started to feel like it’s even more difficult to play without it. Although the good old sounds of vacuum cleaner have decreased, and on the other hand the amount of hate I get from it has increased, it still is a huge part of my game. That’s it for this time. Hope you liked this interview, and remember to tune in tomorrow when it’s time to have the team’s other assistant captain @Eeduu on our third part of the “Ten Days Of Raccoons”. #FeelTheRampage

  11. It's actually not voodoo. Routing makes a big difference - the packets take a longer trip than a straight line distance on a map. Here's a map to illustrate the European internet backbone architecture: The map is old but gives the right idea. Finns will be happy to know that a new cable is being installed in the Baltic Sea between Finland and Germany, i.e. bypassing Sweden and Denmark and giving better performance. Typical customer support.. "make sure you have the power cable plugged in, thank you and have a nice day!". I wouldn't trust the in-game network performance too much either, but it usually gives a decent general idea. If you want a more accurate result, I'd suggest opening up Command Prompt and typing "ping -n 100 159.153.76.33". It will run a series of 100 ping commands to the Dublin server. My results looked like what one would expect from a 3rd world connection that I have to put up with: Minimum = 59ms, Maximum = 102ms, Average = 64ms Hope that helps someone. Now I'll go and cry myself to sleep and dream of 21st century.

  14. The ping is not bullshit, game shows only time for a packet to reach servers, but usually ping is measured as round trip (request and response) which is what tour router says.

  20. This is something that boggles my mind. If the servers truly are dedicated, why does in-game responsitivity vary so much or am I just making shit up for lack of skills? Steady 29ms and still I could have extremely fluid experience controlling my player or then feel like I'm fighting the game controls for 60minutes on ice. I feel like there is some p2p shenanigans going on or then Ea has more servers and some matches get distributed to more non-favourable locations.

  21. As we have hit the start of the new ECL 8 Pro season, Raccoon Rampage would like to introduce you to our team and the lineup, starting it with the series called “Ten Days of Raccoons”. Since it’s the first part of the ten-day introductions, let’s begin with a small peek into the history of Raccoon Rampage. Back in ECL 5, after playing his rookie season in the Pro, the founder and captain of Raccoon Rampage, @Ojamoska, had grown an idea of creating a new competitive ECL team with the help of his contemporary teammate @Eemil. Having previous playing experience together, the dual took their time to design the new brand of the team. After not getting the team done for the ECL 6 season, the duo made a new plan of getting the squad together for the upcoming ECL 7 season. During the beta version of NHL 19 the team finally got its powerful but comical name of “Raccoon Rampage”. The new-born group of Raccoons was formed around former ECL players, some of which had already played in a same team before. As the team began to quickly find its present-day format, it had started to become a strong unit based on trust, respect and little bit of humor. As it’s the first presentation, let’s start off with our captain Ojamoska. Ojamoska, also known as Sasha Bobkov is the centerman of Raccoon Rampage. Ojamoska’s strengths on the ice are his great playmaking skills and vision, sometimes so great even the own guys may have hard time figuring how to score from his feeds. During the interview Ojamoska brought up his crazily good 95% fighting skills he has been able to maintain for years, but which have now rapidly gone downhill. From the team’s perspective our captain Ojamoska is a loyal and a very encouraging leader, who says things how they really are when he feels a need to do so. Let’s hear from the man himself. As a player, what do you want to bring to Raccoon Rampage? I'm really trying to be some sort of leader, so I guess I'm just trying to do the best that I can every day. Also I might post some high quality memes to our group chat. How long have you been playing EASHL for, and do you have any previous experience from ECL? I've been playing EASHL on and off for something like 5 or 6 years now. I played one season in Pro division with the Speedy Bros Hockey before the formation of Raccoon Rampage. What do you think are the team’s expectations for ECL in the future? I really do hope that one day we achieve a status of a good contender in this scene, no matter who we play against. I know that we are a new and young team, so it will take some time to get to that status, but I'm sure we will be able to do it. What areas of your game would you like to develop in the future? I would want to score more goals with "rystyvippi". Also finding a way to score "längistä" on human goalie in a breakaway situation would be a dream come true. What do you think are the key factors that should lead Raccoon Rampage to the success? It's all about the spirit and attitude of every individual in a team. If we just keep working and having fun as a group of ugly nerds, we'll be ugly nerds for a long time. Is that a good thing or not, time will tell. Who do you view as the rival team of Raccoon Rampage? Well obviously I have some relations to my previous club, Speedy Bros Hockey (shoutout to my lover @Tzon93, and "the hit machine" @Ampuhaukka). Of course all the natural enemies of Raccoons are the biggest rivals, so screw all the owls and eagles for killing our young ones! And finally, what kind of events take place during your sauna nights with @Lazzio and Tzon? There are lots of actions taking place during our sauna nights. Some of them are publishable, some of them not so much. From the publishable ones I could mention the good jokes and soda pops! That’s it for this time. Hope you liked this interview, and remember to tune in tomorrow when it’s time to have the team’s assistant captain EemilK02 on our second part of the “Ten Days of Raccoons”. #FeelTheRampage

  22. And as you know... EA changed HUT from P2P to served based. So now EASHL is sharing the server/connection capacity with HUT. Do you really think EA added some more connnections to their server rooms...or more/enough of server capacity? I have to admit I strongly doubt that based on history how they are handling things.

  25. Yeah, its great that people got other stuff to do as well. I dont know what kind of contract have you signed with your team, but usually anyone dont have to play all games. Roster rotation comes handy when have to spend time with family etc... 30 Would be great! And that 24 that @Kenu mentioned would be ok too! At least it is way better than 16 that we had last season... Specially if you want to rotate your roster its very hard with 8 gamedays.
