First day of the year, so happy New Year everyone! Next season is just around the corner, so here is little something of two Rusty players. Hope you enjoy it! It was late November. Season for Rusty Blades had already ended, even if the most important games of ECL season was still to come. General manager of Rusty felt the disappointment for the second season in a row. Left outside of the playoffs twice in a row. He already knew they will lose long time Rusty members @koojiikoojii and @Eric Daze (kinnune) to their new paths and army will make @Migo_boo unable to play in ECL8. So there was a lot to do before the next season that was just around the corner already. Lot to do to not to be forced to feel the slight bitterness of a season too short. At the same time Falun Coal Miners dwell in even more bitter disappointment. Their season was long and hard, everyone knows that. Rusty GM Tanski87 heard a rumour about story of this coal mining team to be at it´s end. For now at least. These rumours meant that @The_Alpha_Furyan was reached, some games played and some messages in WhatsApp sent. The_Alpha_Furyan was signed to Rusty Blades. This meant that there is now three well capable defenders in Rusty, but also that there will be some English heard in Rusty Blades´s Twitch @ https://twitch.tv/rustybladeseashl Before official signing of FCM captain another last seasons Falun Coal Miners player @pentsaa reached out to Rusty GM Tanski87. It took one night on the ice with him and the deal was sealed. Pentsaa is not in projected starting six. But he is a perfect match for his role. He can play at the highest level, is a team player to the core and heart and is also a great guy. The_Alpha_Furyan is a Swedish born player. He is a well known character in this community, not for only being a long time captain or because his offensive skill set as a defender. He is also known from his great writing and articles in here at NHLgamer and other hockey related sites. The_Alpha_Furyan has played 220 games in ECL scoring 77 goals and 186 assists. This 1,2ppg is a great number for a defender. Rusty Blades defense now has combined 607 ECL games played and 589 points scored. He is known to be a big weapon in offense as a defender, some may even say that he is like a fourth forward. Rusty Blades in somewhat known for a team defense that is hard to score against to. These two combined properly can lead in to a deadly weapon for the next season in Elite. One thing is certain and it is the thirst of this player for success. He gives his all in the ice and is a great fit in Rusty Blades as a player and as a person. Pentsaa has played 85 games in ECL and scored 101 points in these games. Pentsaa is able to play any position on the ice and does it well enough, even if his amount of ECL games is not that impressive. Always ready to jump on the ice when needed to. Always ready perform well on his role. Great team player to the bone. Why Rusty Blades? Pentsaa: I already knew few players from RB before-hand and had enjoyed playing with them. Felt like a good decision to contact Tanski for possible back-up role. The_Alpha_Furyan: Once it was clear FCM was no longer playing, I immediately knew I wanted to play in Elite next season. I'm a (really) competitive person and wanted redemption after a sub-par ECL 7. I had felt a responsibilty to my former teammates and was prepared to continue lead FCM in Pro, but once it was clear the level of interest and dedication was no longer there among most of the original members, we decided to call it - gracefully. So, Elite it was. I received interest from a few different clubs, but Tanski and Rusty Blades were among the most enthusiastic ones. I got a great impression of the whole team during my tryouts and once a handshake was offered, I was ready to accept. It didn't hurt that my old Summer Cup 2 friend @Lamsa was the team's resident sniper. I had been looking forward to the opportunity to play some games with him again. ___________________________________________ How do you like the roster of your new team now that ECL 8 is just around the corner? Pentsaa: We have a really competitive roster, could even say that it's the best one I have ever been a part of. The strong core roster with latest additions, @Foppatofflan , The_Alpha_Furyan and @MartindalexC, will surely take us far. I'm really looking forward for the upcoming season and expecting good results from us. The_Alpha_Furyan: In short: couldn't be more thrilled. I truly bought into the vision Tanski presented of RB evolving from an "on the bubble", underdog team to one of the toughest teams out there to beat. He has delivered with every move so far and I can't wait to start the season with these guys. ___________________________________________ Personal goals for the season? Pentsaa: To have the water bottles filled up whenever needed. Jokes aside, personally just want to play good hockey and have fun while doing it. The_Alpha_Furyan: Well, I've finished 8th in the defender scoring race both seasons I've been in Elite, so I'd like to fight for a top-5 position. Competing with the great offensive defenders out there like jtorro1234, vatalisti, Ilmari30 and vSilenttio is inspiring and pushes me to always try and be better. I also look forward to learning from my new defensive colleagues ktwejh and Tanski87. ___________________________________________ Hardest opponents to play against? Pentsaa: All the teams are really competitive nowadays, not really easy points from anyone. Hardest team in my books is Dynasty because there is always possibility that they are going to use their secret weapon and unleash @Tehh Ahola. The_Alpha_Furyan: Well, its hard not to say FILA with the 2018 they had. Truly the most complete roster out there with star players at every position. SKY and SYM are two other teams that always force you to be at your very best at all times. ___________________________________________ Who would you predict to be Rusty MVP of the next season? Pentsaa: I always see that great team needs a great goalie. And that is what we have with @Supreex. So, I'll name him as our MVP candidate. The_Alpha_Furyan: I think Foppatofflan could do some tremendous damage up front for us this season. If not him, Supreex's ability to always come up big whenever we're being pushed back has been inspiring (and comforting!) to see. MVP-worthy for sure. ___________________________________________ Thank you everyone for reading this, I do hope you enjoyed it. There is more to come! Okey. it's time for me with some rally English do something on this site without trolling. This site had a dream about "franchise teams" when they added the divisions some tournaments ago - how's it going NHLgamer??? This site is today talking about making this to an eSport, adding more divisions etc, but no one is talking about the format with two tournaments every year with 3 divisions, something that makes it hard for new teams to stay together (hard to get new players, because every free player is searching for a spot in ELITE or a free ticket with a top PRO-team, cuz they only have 2 opportunities every year to get to the highest division), and also makes us play this game competitive for only 6 months every year instead of 10-12. I think everyone knows the feeling between Mar and sep when there is nothing to play for, and the next tournament is 5 months away -> NHL is dead. New teams get created, the lego-knights from Finland is jumping around in the top-teams trying to find the best new (old) mix, teams are dying and pops up again. There are only 3 "Franchise teams" out there (from old gen) - Synergy, Northern Stars and 112 that still is playing together (sorry Written/SjK and Dynasty). This franchise-dream isn't working at all. Why not change the format? and also make it even more competitive? More tournaments/small tournaments every year! Like "Majors" or, let's call them "Gamers" to make it even more cringe. ---------------------------------------------------------- Maybe something like this?? Gamer Autumn (cute name) Group stage - Oct Playoffs - November December - Low season Gamer Winter Group stage - Jan Playoffs - Febr Mar - Low season Gamer Spring Group - Apr Playoffs - May June - Low Season GAMER SUMMER Group - July Playoffs - August Sep - Low Season (new game incoming) European champ = most won "Gamers" from sept -> august. (we can call them "Svamps" as well) --------------- Elite - 16 teams PRO - "40" Lite - rest (really doesn't matters) + 1. More tournaments -> more games -> makes it even more competitive. (maybe even a "light eSport" doh) 2. Every team gets a chance to play against the best and with the best every year 3. NHL will not "die" after the 2nd tournament (as it is today) 4. You don't need to wait for 1 or even 2 new NHL-versions before you can play in ELITE. With a good run can you actually start in LITE in September and be in ELITE for the 3rd tournament - if you deserve it) 5. Every tournament will matter. 6. 4 weeks break between every tournament. 7. this will not make "free playes" scared to join a team in PRO if there is a chance to actually build something good and then take the step up - 1. it's hard to play 4 tournaments with a small roster 2. YOU NEED TO PLAY DURING SUMMER (a problem if you're having a small roster.) 3. NO LONG tournaments, only small ones. 4 weeks for group stage, and 4 weeks for playoffs. --------------------------------------- Low seasons - there for teams to get new players and also play qualification rounds if there is a team dropping from any of the divisons. the admins will solve this part. Expected comments "we can't play during summer, have no motivation for that" - YES, YOU CAN! everyone is playing some EASHL here and there, and also summer cup during summer. And we're talking about making this an "eSport", if your motivation is the problem, will it always be allowed to play in the lower divisions. the "hardcore teams that is talking about eSport and contract with organizations will play". "We can't handle 4 tournaments with our amount of players" - GET MORE PLAYERS! "Our team will die with this format" - probably if you can't handle a bigger core, and can't give everyone ice time "this will kill many teams" - yes, Team ranked 1, 2 and 3 will be in need of more players (maybe not the NERDS/wadamove teams like Written and pleemakers team) and will probably take players from team 5,6,7-16 - but it will just make more players involved. And there are teams dying today with the format of ECL we're having -> Rad, Nor, FCM. "it's not fair that you need to win 2 or 3 "gamers" every year before you can call yourself a "champ"." - More legit than playing 2 tournaments with 2 different winners every year and a summer cup without any prestige. If it's enough for you to only win one of them, do it then. "are you drunk svamp"? - pyttelite --------------------------------------------------------------- I don't know if this is a good Idea, but I know that this format we're having today isn't better. Teams in LITE is asking for more games. Teams in PRO having problems with getting new players and teams in ELITE is dying. ------ Any other ideas? I'm free to listen.9 points

3 tournaments + summer cup would be the best solution imo.4 points

Swedish G/LD/RD/LW/C/RW looking for a team for the upcoming ECL season. I'm ready for a tryout anytime!1 point

If you make one extra division after lite then you should have four ECL Tournaments per game IMO.1 point

How about extending regular season matches for Lite, keep many playoff teams but shorten playoff to best of 3 until the finale which would be best of 7? That would lower playoff matches and extend regular season.1 point

Up! And with a new job incomming a backup up role would be awesome 👌1 point

Kenu. You have said that you want teams that stay and build up their rep. Not allowing new teams to pro regardless of their roster is the way to do it. This would force elite and pro players to suck it up in lite or find a existing team on level of their liking. Or to actually stay on their teams. And yes, I have vested interest on the matter, as trying to build team in pro sucks ass, as top talents just gather new team and start over season after season.1 point

Yeah, that's the way we've done it so far. So to explain this in more detail: the top 2 have got promoted automatically the semifinal losers have played for a promotion against the bottom Pro-teams the remaining 4 quarter final losers have stood first in line for a promotion for any open Pro spots after the above, we look at the remaining teams with a Pro application (such as your example above) and decide who would be the best fit for any remaining Pro spots. Exactly - it's all about knowing your own level and where you enjoy playing. I mean the funny thing is that when we were drafting up the three division system, people were saying nobody would want to play in Lite. Well, I think we can all agree that's not the case. So I agree it's possible, but again it has to be supported by the teams actually wanting to play at such a level. True, however for a super talented squad I don't believe they should have to play from LOW-LITE -> LITE -> PRO -> ELITE, because let's say hypothetically that you started in LOW-LITE (come up with a better name, please haha) in ECL 9 (NHL 20), that'd mean you could play in Elite in ECL 12 - second season in NHL 21. That growth sort of story makes sense for teams and players that actually develop from being beginners to true champs and it would be amazing to see. However in today's community it doesn't make sense for players that are already Elite level and it doesn't make you want to put in the time and work. We'll continue looking at this approach as the community, leagues and tournaments grow and develop. Feedback is always welcome. Since it came up with my above reply, In regards to ECL 9 being played on NHL 20, I guess it's good to mention that we are looking at other alternatives for playing NHL 19 after the ECL 8 season. Playing for the European Championship more than once a year per game (ECL 8 = 2019 champion in NHL 19) would lessen the value of the championship in my opinion, so we're looking at other things for players to play outside of the two ECL seasons we're able to provide during the NHL 19 lifespan.1 point

POGGERS (Wasps Gaming) looking for RW for the next ECL Pro. Looking for a good guy that can play. Players are around 22 - 35 so no Jonne ukkos. Its really busy right now so if you have no previous XP in Elite/Pro don't apply, don't have time to find unknown talents.1 point

Howdy everyone. I'm Rev. I'm an American goalie, who is interested in playing with guys outside of North America. If time/ connection permits it, I'd love to play with some of you guys, and maybe even make an impact in the ECL. PSN/ Xbox Gamertag is: TheyCallMeRevv, if you want to shoot me a message. I also have experience in Spanish, French, German, and Italian, if that helps at all.1 point

It's not a terrible idea, but I think that if there were 4 divisions, it would suck if you were a really good team and had to start in the ''wood'' division, but then you would have to wait until the next NHL game if you want to get to Pro division. + I'm not an expert, but, from what I've seen, the number of teams that "don't want to be promoted to pro" is really little. ECL should always be competitive and a 4th division would be kinda pointless imo. If people want to play competitive and casual at the same time, there should be a different tournament taking place parallel to ECL (like the Magic cup). Also, this level of competitiveness and equality among teams, I think, is almost impossible to achieve for Lite, because every season you get a few teams in Lite that don't know how to skate/shoot/pass and some that could even play with the big boys up in Elite. Right now ECL Lite is kind of in the middle between being a lower-level, yet competitive or just a plain, casual league. I think the tournament organizers should decide which one they want it to be and fully go for that. I'm all for lowering the number of teams that make the playoffs to 32, because, as everyone has asked for, that gives the teams more meaning to their games and also one less playoff round (6 was a bit too much). And yeah, I get that there will be more teams that quit mid-way during the season, but if a team has the mentality of quitting, then that team isn't what this league needed anyway.1 point

How many games do you want??. I think 18 to 30 games is great beaqause then you have time to do other stuff. Some of us have families and work to take care of but we still wants to play ecl.1 point

Before ECL 8 began, I knew we would see a different Rusty Blades for ECL 8. Long-time members left to spread their wings on other teams, while others left for the army. I knew I had a desire to get Rusty to the level where we can truly compete against the best. Not just be the underdog who is able to steal some "surprise" victories. So we set out to find new players. We found some in The_Alpha_Furyan and pentsaa, but we were still looking for that (or those) difference maker(s) at the forward position. As we tried out different players we looked past just the individual skill of the players, because all of the players who came to play were skilled. It is a big factor sure, but we also wanted the "right" players for the team. Team players who never give up. I think we have now found the last two missing pieces of our puzzle. Rusty Blades are proud to announce @MartindalexC and @Foppatofflan will be joining our roster. With a combined point total of 425 throughout the last four ECL Elite seasons, this duo is the NHLGamer community equivalent of Nathan MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen... except instead of a Finn and a Canadian, this pairing hails from Sweden and England. They will be true difference-makers as we aim to make the playoffs for the second time in RB team history. Our roster is now complete and reads like this: G Supreex @Supreex D Tanski87 @Tanski87 ktewjh @Janikka The_Alpha_Furyan @The_Alpha_Furyan F Lamsa @Lamsa MartindalexC @MartindalexC Foppatofflan @Foppatofflan pentsaa @pentsaa Migo_Boo (Army) @Migo_boo Thank you for @The_Alpha_Furyan with hisxaid in this post.1 point
