Hey NHLGamers, ECL 7 is nearing its end as we only have some final games left to play. These are of course the most exciting games of the season and I highly recommend all of you to tune in for the games on our Twitch channel. This article is a small informative post for you ahead of ECL 8. Let's start off by confirming that ECL 8 will start on January 7th, 2019. All divisions will have the same kick-off date. The seasons will be finished late February to early March. With this article we also launch the signups for ECL 8! If you don't know what I'm talking about by now, here's a briefing of what ECL is; ECL is a competitive EA Sports NHL League. Games are played in the EASHL game mode in a 6vs6 manner. Since ECL 4, we have implemented a divisions framework with Lite being entry level without restrictions, Pro being our mid-level and Elite holding the best 16 teams in Europe. A season in each division consists of a group stage/regular season and playoffs. Here is the ECL framework for season 8 and other details we can confirm: Regional restrictions: ECL is a European tournament format, however we do not necessarily exclude North American or Russian players. North American players are not allowed to host matches / be captain in the lineup, which means all games need to take place on European servers. This also applies to Russian players - please evaluate your previous connection experience against some of the teams participating in the ECL, especially if you live in eastern parts of your country (which likely connects you to US West servers). In case of severe connection issues, we reserve the right to exclude teams or players. 6 vs. 6 tournament: ECL is played 6 vs. 6 only, using the EASHL Challenge Club game mode in NHL 19. Individual requirements: Each player needs to have an account at NHLGamer.com and create his personal player card. Roster requirements: Teams in ECL Elite need to have at least 7 players to sign up. Teams in ECL Pro and ECL Lite need to have at least 8 players to sign up. The roster cap is 14 players. ECL Elite license: Teams in ECL Elite will be required to pay for an ECL Elite license in order to play for the prize pool (more details to follow). Sign-up period: Signups open now. Registrations are open until Wednesday 2.1.2019, 23:59 CET. ECL 8 Kick-off: ECL Lite, Pro and Elite are set to begin on Monday 7th of January. The return of the All-star Weekend: The ECL Elite All-star Weekend will return for season 8. Details will be announced later (please feel free to discuss your ideas). ECL Elite live final: The ECL Elite Final of season 8 will be played at a live event between the 1st and 3rd of March, 2019 (more details to follow). Rules: The ECL 8 ruleset will follow the same foundation as in season 7. We will fine-tune the rules a little bit, but more information is to follow. Meanwhile, you can find the ECL 7 rules here. Gamedays: In order to allow fans to better enjoy the action of the different divisions, we are suggesting the following: ECL Elite default game days: MON, WED, THU ECL Pro default game days: MON, WED, SUN ECL Lite default game days: MON, TUE, SUN Where and how to sign up? Gather a team and register your team in one of the threads linked below. As stated, the entry level is ECL Lite. Elite Teams Eligible: All teams NOT relegated from ECL 7 Elite, the finalists of ECL 7 Pro, teams who won ECL 7 Elite relegation faceoffs. Pro Teams Eligible: All teams NOT relegated or promoted from ECL 7 Pro, all semi-finalists of ECL 7 Lite, teams who won ECL 7 Pro relegation faceoffs. Lite Teams Eligible: All teams who are not eligible for an Elite or Pro spot. We're hoping for feedback on what you want from season 8 as there is still time for adjustments, so don't be shy to give us your thoughts in the comment section below. I dont see an issue here, even if you go out on your holidays, you still have your phone with you that you can use to register your team with and it takes few minutes? Its not like were being asked to start playing on last day of the year, but i understand the argument.10 points

Hola Amigos! I would like to raise some conversation about the number of games being played in Lite. What number of games do you think is good? What changes should be done Lite? Don`t take this wrong, you guys here are doing a great work and i get that you have to do the things that you do. And your service must be focused for the best players in the community but i am writing here from Lite teams GM POV. What do Lite players get from this community? 14-18 game days / year + playoffs if you are doing fine. I am sorry but that is really not that much. Better players have double the number of games in ECL + eSM + Summer CUP. Yeah i know every noob can participate in eSM or SummerCup, but really its not that fun to play against elite or half elite teams with hands of wood. Lower level players are now going to play own tournaments like Magic Cup(thanks to @skebazu) or and play with NHL Gamer nemeses like OEHL or stuff like that I guess that is something you don`t want. Ok, just remembered that there is RCL and GCL also ... but nothing for noob Finns Any ways... my point in short is that i`m sure that many Lite teams want more games! Lite teams often need to have bigger roster because teams are new and players are new to competitive scene or even 6vs6 änäri. And this means that you most likely have players who will lose their interest or who are not good enough to learn some stuff... So you need to have backup in your roster to be sure you can finish the tournament. And because of that, you need to do some rotation in you roster.... And i must say, its not easy to rotate if you play just 7 days. What could be done? Does increasing number of games in Lite lead to too much work for league admin? Would it help if game log would not be so precise in Lite? Or if you could somehow give responsibility of correct reporting to players? = no game reporting issues for admins. This could quite easily be done by giving captains rights(fe. if both captains agree) to delete reported stats. That way they can log stats again if they are wrong. Bigger regular season and smaller play-offs would be great. 64 team play-offs are not good.. About 16 team groups and 32 team play-offs would sound good. A bit side of the topic: Should Summer Cup be cut in half for lower and higher level players? Fe. Pro+Elite / others. This would create more games against about same level opponents for Lite level players. Or should Finns and Swedes also have its own league? There is RCL and GCL... Why not FHL (sry if this is trade mark violation @Eisenhugel).5 points

No sundays please. This tournament has worked all these years with mon,wed,thu defaults. No weekends. Why change it when it works. Those who can play on sundays have rescheduled game days on sundays already. Why force this change for all teams. Change to mon,tue,thu rather than sunday if you have to have different default days on different divisions.4 points

I welcome that change, most teams plays EASHL on sunday nights during ECL anyway. This relieve some pressure for the older audience with irl-commitments during weekdays. Edit: I just saw that sunday as default does not include elite, @Kenu care to explain why?2 points

As soon as we are partially connected with Kajaani University of Applied Sciences and Nordic eSports Academy, we have a room with whole staff there. For Boot camps pays our CEO. 2. You get right about merchandise and some Gear, but I'm not allowed say you here about our Business partners, as soon as it is confidential information, which even I am not provided with this kind of information. 3. Professional eSports contracts will be signed after passing a test contract period, because we want to be sure that all the players get their role for the company right. 4. Pro analysis will be done by analysists from NeSA, which will help us to improve our gameplay. About Web-site and merchandise, now a moment we are working in this way. Web making is already in progress. We didn't do it because there were no reason to make it since the moment we have nothing to present there. I think you should get that. And again thank you for your questions. I am ready to answer on questions I know information about. But as soon as I am player and team manager, I am not into whole financial staff.1 point

I hope it works out, but as it stands there seems to be quite a few questions open regarding the organization and the promises it makes. I don't want to be a douche, but having been both on the wrong and right side of things over the years -- from empty promises to outright faked sponsorship deals, I've learned it's better to be safe than sorry. So, in the sake of anyone who's interested in the project, I'd like to ask a few questions. 1. Regular bootcamps: Where would they be and who pays for them? 2. Sponsorship: Do you mean some sort of gear or merchandise? Who are your business partners? 3. Professional eSports contracts: Professionalism implies a salary or a reward system. Is that a correct assumption? Again, who pays? 4. Professional analysis of gameplay: Who or what does the analysis? I understand it is a new project, but making big promises while not having a web site, no info on management/staff nor any info on business partners, it feels.. dodgy.1 point
