  1. Lamsa - Rusty Blades (RB) ECL Hidden Gems is a concept that was created by @The_Alpha_Furyan and @pnordetun (patovic). The idea evolved out of discussions concerning what type of content patovic himself would like to see more of at NHLGamer.com and what kind of texts he'd be most interested in writing. Hidden Gems, for the purposes of this feature, means players that the author feels haven't quite gotten their time to shine at NHLGamer or players that aren't getting full credit for the skill they bring to the table. This is the second edition in a six-part series that patovic has written so do enjoy the witty writing of "pato" and leave a comment with your thoughts on the piece. After the first edition of Hidden Gems, which was more of a "old school" type gem, we return with this second installment that is focused on a player that manages to be a veteran and a new addition to the community both at the same time. I am of course talking about good ol' @Lamsafrom Rusty Blades - a man so good on the offensive side of the puck that all of your team better be prepared to focus 110% when going up against Rusty Blades. The franchise itself has only participated in ECLs 3, 4 & 5 but wow (!) have they been taking some major steps in the right direction. After making their debut in ECL 3 to mixed reviews (IMDB rating: 6,1), they went back to the drawing board and decided to grind out some serious practice. And by "some", I mean a lot. I am not sure if any team played more EASHL games than Rusty between ECL 3 and 4 but they managed to do exactly what they set out to do - build a foundation for their style of play and learn how to play against (and defeat) the very best ECL teams. Under captain @Tanski87, Rusty have perfected the art of "brunk and dump hockey" mixed with some tic tac toe and have managed to make it the key to their success. In all this, Lamsa is the true catalyst: leading the way with all the different types of goals, assists and dirtyness only a true Kantor can bring. While being underrated on the defensive side of things - he describes himself as a defensive playmaker - Lamsa is most comfortable scoring points using his straight-forward style (the anti-skill hockey?) that has resulted in 155 goals and 101 assist in 112 games played. The fact that Lamsa is Rustys go-to guy in the scoring department get quite obvious when you consider the fact that in ECL 3 (Legacy) he scored 20 points more than anyone else on the RB squad. For next season, ECL 4 (Pro), he finished a full 33 points ahead of #2 and finally, in ECL 5 (Elite) he managed to repeat the feat once more by scoring 14 points more than his closest teammate. Now, Rusty has managed to build what many call the ultimate teamplay-focused team where every skater is a key cog in the machinery and they have certainly become one of the best at what they do, but when the chips are down and they need that one key play - Lamsa is most likely smack in the middle of it. Before ECL 5 I am sure many were curious how RB and Lamsa would hold up against Elite competition, but both of them certainly managed to put a sock in the mouth of their detractors. Rusty Blades by finishing 8th overall, making the playoffs and pushing Aapon Taikasauva to six games in their playoff series and Lamsa by scoring 25 goals and finishing tied for 9th in Goals amongst all Elite skaters. I think we can safely establish once and for all that, unlike the Dent Act and Roberts Rebellion, Lamsa is not built on a lie. 2. We understand that everyone wants to play with their best lineup. Tho it's not always possible and you have to work around it. The deadlines for each round are there for a reason - everyone has to follow the same set of rules and the same deadlines. There's no preferential treatment. OK, lets say we indefinitely extend the current round of the playoffs because of a single matchup where both teams couldn't ice their best lineups. Now what? Everyone's forced to wait? What will we do when another team approaches us regarding the same issue? What happens when in the following rounds teams actually can't play their games because of the previous delays (holidays are right around the corner)? What happens when we are forced to push back/cancel the next ECL/Summer Cup? We're open to all suggestions and will always try our hardest to help teams to overcome any potential issues. There are valid reasons for not being able to finish the series and if such cases arise we can possibly try to squeeze in an extension. That said, demanding an extension simply because one of your main players decides to go on a vacation and then the team doesn't want to play the series even though they have enough capable players is just ridiculous. Please respect other members of this community and their time.

NHLGamers, Here are the playoff pairings and framework for Round 2 of the ECL 5 playoffs for Pro & Elite: FRAMEWORK Each pairing, Elite or Pro, must be finished within 7 days from today, meaning last evening to play games is December 5th. 5. @FlyerKungen Imagine how long the playoffs would take or how hard it would be to get the games played if everyone thinks like you? There would be eight teams in elite playoffs asking for more time because someone from their best possible lineup are on vacation, hangover, tired or cat has eaten someones playstation. And if your biggest argument is "this isn't competitive" there aren't any reasons to change anything based on that. NHL teams are playing their games too, even if somebody is injured and they can't use their best lineup. We need rules and scheludes, if it's too hard to follow them, don't participate. I'm tired of this new generation where minority thinks that everything should go like they want and how it's best for them, even if it harms the majority.

  8. Hi fellow NHLGamers. Like many of you guys know the IS Cup was played about a week ago in Helsinki. I want to say thanks to everyone involved and to all the Finnish guys in the community that made me feel very welcome. Now to the more important stuff, the actual gaming. On the first day of the tournament, players that did not make it to the main tournament through the online qualifiers had a chance to qualify. 64 players got divided into two different knockout brackets. The winner of the first bracket was hardly surprising, as on top came @Dominointi after beating @Rimpe in the final. In the other bracket a more (to me) unknown player made it all the way to the group stage of the IS Cup Finals. @MUFASAN-VALITTU won the second bracket after beating Kaneyh (@Kane) in the final. The final 16 competed in the IS Cup Finals on Saturday and the first phase was for the TOP 8 to make it through the group stage. The 16 players were split into four groups and below is how things went down: Group stage Group 1: In my opinion this group was the group of death. I_Eki_I (@Erkki) had a lot of pressure going into the tournament after finishing second in the eSM (Finnish Championships) and after beating @willekunq in the final of the online qualifier. I_Eki_I got a very good start in the first game against Dominointi with an early 4-0 lead that Dominointi never managed to recover from. I_Eki_I won the game 6-3. Dominointi got his revenge on @xDoumi after losing to him in the online qualifiers but that game was not the most important in their careers since both of them were out already after losing to @SadaPoika and I_Eki_I. Sadapoika impressed me by beating Dominointi as well and won the group after beating I_Eki_I in the last game with a score of 4-3. Group 2: In this group I expected @Hansulinho to win comfortably, but I was so wrong. Hansulinho lost his first game 6-4 to @Dreamickie and @Leksa94 lost his first game to @Nikeez98 3-2. SJK eSports teammates Hansulinho and Leksa94 were now up against each other in a game that would mean that one of them were out of the tournament. Leksa had the lead until there was only 2,3 seconds left of the game. It was unreal how Hansulinho was only 2,3 seconds away from being eliminated. It´s even more impressive the way he scored in that crucial moment. Hansu scored a spectacular goal after a difficult saucer pass when he tied the game 2-2. Hansu managed to win the game in overtime. Dreamickie impressed and won the group after a perfect 3 wins. Hansulinho joined Dreammickie into the top 8 knockouts after beating Nikeez98 5-0 in their last game of the group stage. Group 3: The Finnish Champion @eskoeinari managed to win this group after an impressive 3 straight wins. Buranaburana (@[email protected]) followed him into the playoffs after beating both @Kim_20_00_ and @JaKurrii. It was great to see the skill of the players participating in live-tournaments and to see that there are so many good players, for example JaKurri made it to the semifinals in eSM but now in IS Cup he did not manage to win any of the three group stage games. Group 4: This group was the one that I had the least knowledge about upfront. I must say that I am impressed by MUFASAN-VALITTU winning this group after he secured his spot the day before. MUFASAN-VALITTU did participate in the eSM but he did not make it to the top 8 in that tournament. @Kemppane_ took the other top 8 spot from group 4 after beating @kojowaa 4-1. Quarterfinals In the first quarterfinal Hansulinho beat Sadapoika 2-0 in games after winning the second game 4-3 in OT. The most entertaining quarterfinal was between Dreamickie and I_Eki_I. Dreamickie managed to win the first game 5-3. The second game in the series was the craziest game in this tournament I would say. Dreammickie managed to come back into the game after being down 3-1. With around 4 minutes left Dreammickie scored 6-5 that was so close of being the game series winning goal, but somehow I_Eki_I managed to equalize with only 13 seconds left. I_Eki_I won the game in OT after being very close to be out of the tournament. In the third game I_Eki_I won the game 4-2 to secure his spot in the semifinals. In the third quarterfinal the Finnish champion eskoeinari beat Kemppane 2-0 in games after two close games (3-2, 4-2). Last quarterfinal was played between MUFASAN-VALITTU and buranaburana. The first game of the series was very close. buranaburana had the 3-1 lead, but MUFASAN-VALITTU made it back into the game and took the game into OT. In the OT buranaburana scored to make the series 1-0 in his favor. buranaburana won the second game with the same result 4-3 in regulation time. 2-0 in the series for buranaburana took him to the semifinals. Semifinals First out in the semfinals was the series between buranaburana and eskoeinari. The question was if buranaburana was going to get revenge against eskoeinari after losing to him in the semfinal of the eSM. The answer was no. Exactly like in eSM, the series went to a third game where eskoeinari was able to win and go through to the final. eskoeinari won 2-1 in game 3. The second semifinal between the 5x Finnish champion Hansulinho and I_Eki_I was going to be something special. In Hansulinho's latest live apperance he lost the semifinal against Pleemaker in the IS Cup last year. I_Eki_I has become very experienced at events like this after being in the final of both the eSM and the IS Cup last year. I_Eki_I managed to win game 1 with 5-4 in OT. After that Hansu won two straight games with 3-1 that took him to the final. Final The reigning Finnish champion Eskoeinari against the five-time former Finnish champion Hansulinho. I was hoping for a series that would go to game 3 but Hansulinho wanted something else. Hansulinho won both finals with the score of 4-2. In the second game Hansulinho found Crosby in the perfect spot to make it 3-2 in the game, that goal was the game winning goal that made Hansulinho the Champion of IS Cup this year. 11. The rule is there for a reason. If you have a really good player in your roster but he can only play once in a blue moon then is he really that 'good'? Since more often than not he can't play. Your job as a captain is to field the best possible lineup, not the best, as it has to be achievable. If you decide to take a chance and bring in 6 'main' players with 2 'fillers' then that's fine, but you absolutely cannot turn around to the admin team and ask for an extension because one guy was 'off'. The player minimum is there for a reason and if you end up being forced to play a playoff game because one of your main guys can't play, well then that's completely your fault for not acquiring good enough backup players. Ideally do WOs have a place in playoffs? No. Alas we don't live in a perfect idyllic world now do we? So such a thing will inevitably occur once in a while. Edit: Wait hold up, this doesn't feel right... I'm defending the admins? Who spiked my drink?

  12. Of course. As I said earlier, we try our hardest to help teams out. That said, it's within reason - we will do it, BUT we also need to keep things fair for everyone and avoid giving anyone preferential treatment. We will obviously support anyone If something unexpected happens and if because of it they won't have enough players to complete the games. It's understandable. The thing is - we don't feel that "not being able to ice the best lineup" falls into this category.

  17. I wrote my comment based on that statement because in my opinion that just sounds stupid. Bugimir is in miami right now and you don't want to play against us before he comes back to finland. Okay, maybe it's coincidence that you are writing something like that here just now.. Sorry, maybe I just made a stupid prejudice. And what comes about my face or instagram followers, it's not relevant at all. Anyway see you on the virtual ice and hopefully in nhlgamer cruise someday!

  20. Let me see if you doesn't see they are totally different world to shedule games. In regular season you are dealing with many teams per week etc and it's also much larger package. 1 or 1,5 week deadline in regular season is good so you kinda stay in touch. In playoffs, you have only that one opponent where to put focus. So it would be much more competitive to give more time for the series, so you can 100% sure play with your best possible lineup there. Or even play. In regular season its not so necessary as U know. It's not world end if you need to use potato as goalie in one regular season night. But what about playoffs? I think its kinda world end. But yeah, my writings was kinda made for teams, who wanna play as comptetitive as possible. So pls, don't fuck dots. I know you are wise man. Read with mind.
    2 points
  21. In the playoffs I also fully understand & respect that teams want to use a specific lineup. Stupid otherwise. My point is the regular season deadline when you have 1-2 month and still "need" the extra days when its only benefits the teams that don't care about/hold the deadline. In the playoff I cant say anything because I'm to bad to be a part of it.. But I hear and can agree that its sad it has to be WO´s
    2 points
  22. But still, it's bullshit. ''Yeee leggo and let's play good regular season so after that we can gain WO losses at first round of PlayOffs.'' Thing what should been never happen. And in my mind, if that happen, It only tells about stupid rules. Staff can always keep crying about how you can have so many backups in roster, bc we got that cute 8 players minimum rule. Fuck that. There is teams who wanna play with one lineup to get best possible result. Respect that first!!! And I don't mean scheduling should be some kinda kinder garden to teams but you got the point I hope. Maybe staff can think what they can do better with rules and scheduling in future. That 'wannabe strict' what I have seen so far is kinda hilarious sometimes. I have experience how LA guys can be disrespectful against team Captains so I have full rights here to say directly what I think. And no... I don't need any staff member to answer this. I have other things to do. I just wanted to say. I respect all work you do, but theres a things what I can't really understand. Maybe someday. Sry & thx, remember to enjoy this awesome PlayOff time!

  26. Did I say that would be usual or common situation to trying get longer deadlines? Don't be so simple. I don't think so. And I talked about few days or something like that. If something happens and only for special case. And there would not be eight teams asking that in Elite, U know that. So don't use color pens just bc you can't figure out anything smart. But that NHL argument was fun, I waited when somebody use that. I don't know why I'm even answering to you, bc I see you haven't read even half of my messages. I said I respect rules and stick with those what we have at the moment. Can you bring anything wise on the table? And that bolded magic. It tells me that you are basic finnish boy with cute face with lots of instagram followers. When somebody tells their opinion which is based on only their own experience, people think like you said. If you think I'm here bc everything should go like I want or what is best for me. You need to open your eyes.
    1 point
  27. It feels like staff is always hiding behind this "eight player" rule. You guys just use it like a shield to avoid things. It's also shame you don't care about competitive ECL as much as I hoped. "Keep things fair for everyone...", I'm not sure is it fair to force teams to play with bad or secondary lineup at most important games of season, if they play and practice 95% of time with one same lineup. For example, asking few more days in that situation, it's not ridiculous. I took this to the table only bc I faced case like this first time in my Captain career. We we're really unlucky, no one's fault. It is Captains responsibility to take a good care if they hit on the ice with small roster and one lineup. And I'm not talking only about us, I don't wanna any team need to face cases like this in future. This kinda cases doesn't happen very often, but if that happens, there's need to be something to do. Just in case.
    1 point
  28. Yea, ofc the responsibility is for teams captains and players. So if you plan something not so necessary and you know it would be effect to your teams playoffs, but you still do it... Yeah, its not LA's problem. But usually its just bad luck that you cant get best possible lineup. Like other forcing things in real life. It's just would be so relaxing to know when series start: "ok, if something bad happens, we have a change to get more time 0,5 or 1 week bc rules already said that or something". I know staff use lots of time for keep building this shit together. But as we players do... We play fkin too much to give up easily. It's not easiest thing to handle some many Divisions, players, teams... me... But at the end, I'm always thinking only how we can be more competitive. At ECL 5, right now, deadline is so tight, bc of Christmas and staff wanted to Seasons end before it, so I will stick with it. So there is not even room for accidents. But as I keep saying I'm talking about future.
    1 point
  29. That wasn't personally forced for SSG. I'm not even interested who is dealing with WO's. In regular season, it seems like there is always gonna be some teams for it. I just used that "SSG" for example. Dunno really why. I know staff made mistake there as well. Don't be mad, everything is fine. I don't have anything against you or SSG. And if it helps, I'm sorry.
    1 point
  30. That if something happens such as an accident or traumatic experience etc something you cant plan beforehand im quite sure LA will give more time
    1 point
  31. Ok, sry for myself. I need to catch this. With that bolded line, why? Cama. Are U tryin' to BABYSIT me here? I'm really sure U know what I'm talkin' bout. xoxo If you don't keep private things out of here, me either. Customer service as it best. No hard feelings, just giving a feedback in my way. But I'm not sure are you best person to say "respect others". It's fun how the whole LA keeps saying same things over and over again. Jaadajaada... My point here wasn't that I wanna teams get forced to wait others or something else. Just saying, think before you even start! That was the point. Staff forcing and waiting all teams to play whole season within 8 weeks without any WO's is also as ridiculous as (for example:) me asking two weeks more time bc Ulla went to Hawaiji with him Tinder match. Blaablaa... Ok, I understand, giving 8 or 10 weeks for Regular Season would not change anything. Theres always that one "SSG" at the end, asking more time to play. 1 or 1,5 week for three opponents is pretty good, imo. But for future, I wanna see at least longer PlayOff deadlines. Or at least more freedom with them. I mean, think before you start, as I said. If Christmas comes to your way, then it comes. Don't force PlayOffs in future. We can continue playing on January as we (you) did @ ECL 3. Why we even wait one month after game release to start ECL? Now we need to hurry with everything. Rules @ ECL 5 are already written. I can stick with those, I respect them as much as I can. But I'm talking about future (ECL 6 etc.). I don't wanna see any WO's, I wanna see more competitive and friendly rules for top teams. Imo, if we (you) are smarter, we can play Seasons without killing tight deadlines. Just be straight and simple with those rules what comes about games deadlines in future. And do it before you start season, not when season is going to end. The fear about WO's is always here when you play or not. It's not good. Plan your seasons with more time, so at least those PlayOff WO's are gone forever. I respect you and other members. Different opinions are richness. But I think, nobody doesn't care how many seasons we play in a year. Me and other members will enjoy much more to play 1-2 ECL Seasons which are almost 100% succesful with good straight rules, than playing 3-4 ECL Seasons which are 75% succesful bc there isn't really change to be flexible. There's always a problems and there's always different kind of teams. Others maybe doesn't care about WO's, but I care. And don't get me wrong. The problem isn't as big as my text is. It's interesting to discuss and this is what I think. Perfectly planned is half done...
