  1. Laser HT was 7th in regular season of ecl4, and they still won whole shit. Its spirit of game. In your way pearichwhatever laser should have been replaced with lite or pro winner? One of the greatest idea so far, keep it coming and make nhlgamer great again!

  2. For starters I must say that I'm happy with the current format of this ECL divisions and I would love to see it work like it is supposed. Long-lasting. But then again I guess we gotta see the realism and adjust with it. I guess everyone can see the dilemma in this since there are team number caps in higher divisions and many teams are eager to achieve promotion. Sure pro (why not even elite) would be the correct placement for new teams that have skilled/elite players. Then again at same time it would be a huge slap in the face for franchise teams (who wants to promote and are on the line next) in lite who are sticking together and trying to achieve pro spot hard. As it was announced earlier that longetivity of teams is the thing that ECL divisions is trying to go for. Tho I can already sense some teams only have 1-2 player of their last year roster so don't know what is the difference between newly formed team and "original" team with almost whole roster swapped. So therefore I'm thinking out loud that is it possible to rethink the divisions system so there wont be biased users due to unfair treat? Some ideas/suggestions to think about and theyre free to use for further thinking 1) Should there be just two competive divisions instead of current 3 divisions? Elite division with team number cap between 12 - 20 teams and Pro division open for everyone who wants to play competively. Lite would be for teams that are somehow more casual and it would have its own eco system! Promotions/relegations scale between Elite and Pro divisions should stay as they are now. All the newly formed teams who want to play competively would be just one season away of the Elite division so the road wont be so long to the Elite. 2) Should we keep current 3 division system and just add another open division for players who don't want to play competively. That way we could avoid them 15-0 crushing games between new teams with skilled/elite players and casual chillers who just want to have some fun.Ofc then it would take minimum of 2 seasons for new teams to get into Elite. 3) Is it possible to create cup that takes place at the same time ECL seasons(?). We could use similar format they use in English football (FA-cup). Then we could see some cross-action between division lines in "serious" games! And them newly formed challengers would have a good spot to show their skills already during their grindfest through lower divisions! And every round should definitely be Bo1 so stakes would be high in every game and this wouldn't take too much time during ECL game weeks. Would love to see lower division team knocking out elite teams in this one! See you on the ice! kjkj

  3. And don't forget: "we" created this LITE div b/c of all the teams that only played 50-60% of their games after been crushed with 10-0, 15-0 against the top-teams. Like Connor said -> Some teams are there for a reason 1. They don't need to face the top-teams (Ofc would it be fun for some of the lite-teams, but if you didn't remember how it ended 2-3 years ago, think again) 2. They don't lose their games with 10-0 3. THAT helps these teams to stay together, having fun and don't forfeit tournaments, and we now don't have the same amount of WO-situations like we had before. 4. they get's matched against similar teams, skillwise, and will improve 5. Everyone has something to play for. LITE - maybe we should call it the "amateur-division", I don't no. And yes, some of the teams in LITE wins games here and there against the Elite-teams in eashl (yes, congratz, good work). But if you really deserves to play in PRO, will you ofc get there.. some day. And it's a big difference between eashl and ECL, or "Mukia-hockey and serious hockey". Yes, I understand that it would suck for some of the "LITE-teams" if new-created teams get's a free-spot in PRO. But hey, what a about a community with "ELITE-teams" that get's forced to play in LITE, and we once again get's tournaments with 17-0 games, IN THE LOWEST DIVISION?! Like Connor said about CS:GO, there is a reason why they don't put good teams in the lower leagues. And this argument about "long-lived" teams and franchise-teams --> You can't force players to play together. There is no money involved, people have no reasons to stay. Captains have nothing to say if people decides to leave. The punishment with losing an Elite spot just b/c you can't replace lost teammates is a big punishment for them who still tries to stay together. But If they still can manage to get players (elite-pro players) but decides to giving up their elite-spot to some other PRO team, why the hell should we force them down to LITE? Who wins? Some LITE team will "maybe" get a "free-ticket" to PRO, and some team who almost reached PRO the tournament before will in 9 of 10 scenarios get a harder opponent to play against, and we will see a team that get's a 30-0-0 record with +211 goals. It makes sense? Maybe we should "delete" this division-dream that the NHLgamer-staff had, and do like we did a couple of years ago --> 1 division, 30 teams, only the best ones, let the Staff decide "who's in", and let the rest just play EASHL. Or is it maybe a reason why we have 3 divisions, is it maybe another reason somewhere that is more important than this franchise-shit? Like, let's give everyone a fair chance, like having tight divisions and no WO-cases. There is also a reason why they putted Carlsberg in PRO in the last tournament and not in LITE. 1. History 2. Skill 3. roster And, this is why we have staff-members? let's hope that they're sober when they takes their decision.

  4. What the actual fuck? Best comment was something like "best lite teams are better than worst elite teams" where are these lite teams hiding?

  5. @Peacerich_se In terms of skill I wouldn't rule out lower elite teams being close in skill to top pro teams, truth be told the skill discrepancy between the 'top of elite' and the lower end is pretty damn large as is anyway. That said however, the difference between any 'top' lite teams and any elite teams is so huge I would even venture to say the elite team could start 0-3 down and still win. As for the pro teams the skill gap is of course not as insane, but at the end of the day they're playing in pro to get promoted to elite, why should they have more access to elite playoffs then actual elite teams? You say that the best teams in lite (atleast a few) would be better than lower elite teams, sorry but that's just wrong. No offence to Hawks Hockey Club / Old Farts / Dynamo Danglers / Dead End Kings but I think even they could tell you that they wouldn't stand a chance in elite playoffs. Pro division, there's an argument to be had for sure, but it's still a little silly that a pro team could face lesser skilled opponents to make the playoffs than an actual elite team would. And sorry but if having to be in elite to win the cup annoys you then there's an easy remedy for that... get good enough to play in elite, it's pretty simple.

  6. I don't see a point in placing obviously stacked in lite only to destroy the teams, as it goes completely against the idea of the divisions in the first place. I know the staff underlined the desire for a certain type of longevity with teams, but I see that as merely limiting the competitiveness of the game. However, in order for this type of system to be possible, there has to be a specific way to rate teams and their level. There are various different ways to do that, but the simplest way would be to assign personal ratings to players and when a certain threshold is reached when the player ratings are added up, the team is granted access to Pro if there is room. Say, playing x games in elite the previous season grants a player y rating. On top of that, if he's a forward and finishes in the, say, top-20 in points, he gets z points on top of that. Have rules like this for every position, where the player ratings are in black and white, something tangible to judge a team's ability objectively. This is obviously just a rough example to give you an idea of how a team rating could be achieved through personal performance. I do understand that some players in lite would actually relish the challenge of facing excellent teams in the lowest tier, so their voices should obviously be heard as well.

  9. This struck a chord with me. Sounds like it could potentially be very interesting and cool! The EC - European Cup Could lead to teams having slightly larger rosters due to an extra game day every week. Also a great way for new players to claw their way into more established teams and prove their worth in competition games that are "serious", but not as "serious" as teams view the ECL.

  10. Because you think that 7th and 8th spots dont deserve their spot in playoffs, and more so you think lower division teams have earned their right to compete in elite playoffs.

  11. Haha what is this😂 Ok i Will start a new team and invite My members and play in Lite and Easy come to Elite playoff

  12. Or we can just make it so that all teams, even the teams in Pro and Lite can win the playoffs in Elite. As it is right now the top 8 teams in Elite will play the Elite playoff, why not just cut it down to the top 6 teams and give spot number 7 to the best team in Pro and spot number 8 to the best team in Lite. *Edit - With automatic promotion for the team in Lite so that new teams, or the best team in Lite could just jump over Pro.

  13. Howdyhou gamers! Here is Speedy Bros Hockey and still going strong. The roster has been altered a bit, but the aspiration is straight up. We don't know what is the division where they throw us, but what so ever -we will play there. We are blended with experience and rookies. Stats is not major priority, but the roles are. We want to lift up new players to the ECL-world, but you better be careful -they are not green horns with the game, no no no. After all our defense is experienced. 14. I think this can be a very valid point, in all honesty. Look at musicians, for instance: a lot of the best stuff gets made under very high tensions between collaborators. I think decent arguments can be made for either view as these things aren't very black and white. Even though we're seemingly presenting our thoughts in the podcast as some ultimate fact, Johtaja and I certainly welcome differing opinions! Anyway, thank you for all of your lovely words. And to pelimies I would say that while we greatly value your feedback and appreciate the encouragement, we certainly don't want to step on ECL Talk's toes and feel like there's ample room for both that official podcast by the wonderful Alpha_Furyan and vSilenttio as well as our little thing that we did here. Perhaps your comment was in jest, but I wanted to say this either way.

  17. Abdolutely NO! NHLGamer says that this is competitive community. Well i ask would it be fairly competitive to every one if some team can skip a division? Yes the first season to the "better" team would be easy. No can do. But didn't everyone say also last season that Old Farts was plays in wrong division? Yeah they won the regular season but why didn't they advance to the Pro division for ECL 5 if they were in wrong division? I think that if NHLGamers staff let's now some team go this shortcut they dig a hole for them selfs. How do you say someones skill level is pro or elite? They have played 5 matches? 10? 30? Or how many players in team you must have in team to get this privilege? Is 4 enought or do you lose it if you have even one "Lite level" player? And how can we prevent that Lite team decides to skip ECL 5 and make comeback to ECL 6 but this time they have 6 elite players and 4 lite players? After staff gives them the shortcut the elite players return to their teams and Lite players invites their old players back to the team? And voila they are in Pro division. In Lite there are some teams that really would be Pro's mid - lower mid teams. It would be unfair to them (and all the other Lite teams as well) if some teams just can skip one division. Let's keep the game equally fair to everyone!

  18. In my opinion last season there was only one team who played in too low division. Is there much more to come teams like Hc Carlsberg? If Lite is only for beginners we might need one division between pro and lite then?
    2 points
  19. Believe me series gonna be like u said. 10-1 7-0 etc. We saw it in ecl 3 when all teams were in same "division". Lite is lite for reason.. best lite team last season probably wont win pro this year. But pro winner will win elite next year..
    2 points
  20. There are ~47 teams in Elite/Pro and 31 in Lite. I wonder what might be the voting result If we make fastlane to Pro it does not expand the community it just closes others.

  25. Afternoon Gamers, In the last few months NHLGamer.com has seen an incredible growth. Not only when it comes to our membership totals on the webpage (about to hit 2500 at the time of writing this) but also when it comes to the ways in which you, our members, choose to interact with us. Our social media channels has grown exponentially and the level of overall commentary and discussion across all platforms is the highest its ever been. As we stand on the verge of new and exciting projects that could potentially propel the NHLGamer brand even higher, it is important to remember where we came from. That, coupled with our desire to introduce our many new members to what it is we actually do around here, led to the creation of an article titled: What is the ECL? Well, the ECL (or European Championship League) is, quite simply, the biggest and most competitive EASHL championship on the European continent. It has long been the "flagship" project for NHLGamer.com and continues to be one of its highest priorities as the project moves forward. All games in the ECL are always played 6v6 (= 6 human-controlled skaters on both sides, including the goaltender) in the EASHL game mode on EA SPORTS' latest iteration of the NHL franchise. When the ECL first saw the light of day almost two years ago (2015) it did so with a healthy amount of hype. The European EASHL community, having previously been divided between Xbox and Playstation, had all decided to come together on one platform (it ended up being the PS4) in anticipation of the championship. Thus it came to be that the ECL, right from the very start, hosted the most competitive enviroment anyone had ever seen... and from there it grew. While the number of teams who competed in ECL's 1, 2 & 3 stayed relatively even, around 50, and the summer tournament hosted on NHLGamer (Summer Cup; previously a part of the ECL but now edited to be its own franchise) was a success - we still felt like there were more European teams and players out there who either hadn't discovered us yet or hadn't gotten around to signing up. With a game-changing innovation introduced ahead of ECL 4, we were about to be proven right... Divisions The idea behind creating separate, skill-based divisions had been rattling around the NHLGamer community ever since before the first ECL, but it wasn't until after ECL 3 that a formal concept was announced. The community was then given a chance to present their feedback and suggestions for improvements before the Staff announced the final version. When faced with the opportunity to play an entire season against teams of an even skill level, the number of sign-ups soared. The ECL went from having about 60 sign-ups with 45-50 teams finishing the season, to having 80 sign-ups with 78 finishing the season - a 97.5% completion rate. We attribute this success partly to the divisions evening out the competition amongst teams, but also to the enhanced structure a system like this offers. ECL Elite always houses 16 teams, meaning the regular season is always 30 games long. ECL Pro always houses 32 teams, meaning two "conferences" of 16 teams and a regular season 30 games long. ECL Lite is flexible so that we can always accommodate however many new teams choose to sign up. ECL 5 Our next ECL season starts in the middle of October while sign-ups will start as early as September. We expect to once again beat our sign-up records to host the biggest championship yet. Can you afford to miss out on the experience? Keep an eye out for more information, news and hype concerning ECL 5 (including when sign-ups open) in our social media channels; Facebook (NHLGamer) Twitter (NHLGamerCOM) YouTube (NHLGamer Official) Instagram (NHLGamerOfficial) Twitch (NHLGamerTwitch) See you on the ice! @The_Alpha_Furyan for NHLGamer.com

  26. As a spiritual spin-off to the infamous one-off podcast "Kusipäisyyden korneri" by Teemu "Johtaja" Ylösmäki and Oskari "OODAP" Koivuniemi, I give you the much tamer "Asiallisuuden korneri" where Johtaja and I discuss team dynamics, the dilemmas faced by GMs, and what goes into making a team work together. The conversation was off-the-cuff and not as in-depth as I originally intended. Still, we drew from experience playing EHL/ECL and figured we'd have something meaningful to say. Failing that, at least we got to listen to our own voices. As Johtaja pointed out to me after the recording session, it does feel more like an interview, with me asking the questions and Johtaja answering them, than a conversation between two active participants. Johtaja is the one who, for most of his time playing EASHL, has been running his own teams. Therefore, it felt natural to me that I step back and convey his perspective from all those years of managing a team. That's not to say I shouldn't have been more active, though. Just like Kusipäisyyden korneri, this is entirely in Finnish. However, if for some reason there is demand, I will subtitle it in English before uploading the podcast to YouTube. Asiallisuuden korneri is in no way intended to compete with ECL Talk, the official podcast by NHL Gamer. We're in a different language, and we didn't really veer into their territory with our topic. You're doing well, Alpha and Silenttio, and we appreciate your effort. I started this thread already to forewarn the community of the imminent release of Asiallisuuden korneri and to find out whether I should make those subtitles. I've completed the most painstaking part of the editing, so it's possible that I'll upload the finished podcast later today.

  31. I just revealed the biggest joke. Fat Cats is trying to get on fastlane. Former leader of Old Farts as assistant capitain. He is also member of NHLGamer staff. Fun fact is that he didn't manage to get promotion with his team from Lite. I think there is something fishy going on @Kenu? NHLGamer does not seem very reliable to me with this kind of moves. Decisions are made outside the ice I guess.

  32. I think there is a point of expanding Elite division tho. Between 18-22 teams is a good amount. A larger elite division will put most of the focus on the Elite division in the community which is something that we want. A team should not gain as much hype for winning pro as of winning Elite. It will also be easier for good players to get into Elite, and not having them play in pro or lite due to limited rosters in Elite. This elite thinking that every game must be like a playoff final in terms of skill is kind of overrated. Most leagues have 5-6 elite teams in the highest division, 10 good and 5 bad teams. It builds hype for the truly big games between the top teams and also from time to time gives upsets when a lesser team beats one of the giants. Also fun when a lesser team (think Leicester) upsets the community and finish high in the standing. As it is right now, it doesn't matter if you finish high or low in the group stage making the group stage completely pointless , which is something Laser HT proved last year. To me there is a larger charm in this format. It gives the division character, something that the current Elite division lacks. It's not interesting tbh.

  34. That's good point if we had some money involved. But u are talking about amateur league and I assume that NHLGamer is trying to make somekind of community here (before they make us pay to join leagues etc). If top players can just make new team in every season to fill open spots how it supose to serve anything? I'm new here so I can see how small is the core who actually uses power here. They keep the administrators in their mouth. I don't want this to be "Happy place" I wanna just think bigger (Lite or Pro team in Elite playoffs ain't one of my sheet).

  39. EA keep saying that they´d like the game to be more competitive so why should it be possible for the net to come off to begin with, at least in a 6 on 6 matchup. There are just so many things that would make the competitive scene alot more competitive with just some small adjustments to the game according to me. I´d like to see some easy "before lunch" adjustments, and this is for the EASHL 6 vs 6 scene, not the rest. Injuries, what is the point? Get rid of it. Fighting, same thing, pointless and more or less never happens anyway. Stamina, fuck this, full steam space machine it feels like its just there for no reason what so ever if anything make it possible to at least see how much gas you´ve got left.. ALL players should be able to perform all moves at all times, its just so annoying when you lose control of the puck for no fucking reason with like a defensive defenseman. Net off moorings, pointless and is just used for obvious reasons. Games are to long, sort this out by using real minutes instead of the "real time fast clock" and adjust the penalties accordingly, Id say 3 x 3min with like 30 sec penalties. That way, all games that doesnt go to OT would be pretty much on the spot 10 min and not like now, anywhere from like 20 min til the next game comes out. If draw make it a 3 min overtime, if draw after that a 5 round shootout. The overtime and shootout should be a setting that the home team can pick before going into the game (for playoffs etc). To challenge a club why do you have to go to totally different dressing room where nobody ever is? Wouldnt it be nice to just be able to do that from the original dressing room so that you can just challenge a team and not get matched up with the same random team over and over again, this would also be a great tool to see if the fucking search engine works to begin with and see who is playing. Reconnect to games if you are disconnected, duh, this is possible in "indie/arcade/low budget" games such as rocket league, but not in a AAA-franchise such as NHL. If the goalie gets disconnected he has got like 30 sec to reconnect, if he fails to do so another player has to take the goal, I want no bots, EVER, same thing goes for penalties etc, if there are alot of penalties just add the time to the skaters who are already in the box or replace them with the new ones but no bots, ever, if people rage quit you better finish your game with 3 or 4 players. It should be possible to change your lineup once you see who you are up against, pretty much like a dropin before this position thing got into the game like 2 years ago. I like the new drop in system for sure when most people just want to play F/C but its pointless for a serious team. Highligts/replay: These are way to short, the highligts for the goals are like 2-3 sec long, make them like 10 sec or something instead.
