  3. Good afternoon, Gamers The second episode of ECL Talk is here and so are our sound problems! Yes, we know what you're thinking: good job @vSilenttio and @The_Alpha_Furyan - and we thank you for that. So, to poke some fun at ourselves and to honor the late Chester Bennington, we've named the episode after a Linkin Park song; Lost In The Echo. Be sure to note how confident we sound in the beginning of the episode that we did indeed fix our issue... Anyway, here's whats going down today (synopsis from YouTube page): "In this second episode of ECL Talk, our hosts The_Alpha_Furyan and vSilenttio turn their attention to reviewing the NHL 18 Beta. The episodes main focus is on our hosts providing their own impressions of the game, while also discussing which ECL franchises seems to have figured out the game and done well for themselves in this short span of time. Furthermore, ECL Talk #2 touches down in the Free Agents thread – looking at some of the remaining “big dogs” out there. Lastly, the Summer Cup is discussed briefly with the champions being crowned no more than a week ago." Stay tuned for more ECL Talk and be sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel and like the video if you want to see more content like this in the future. PS: A final apology for the once again poor audio quality – for Episode 3 we will be recording in a different manner to make sure the quality is crisp. See you then! @vSilenttio and @The_Alpha_Furyan for NHLGamer.com

  4. Hey NHL Gamers, Many of us were hoping for it, most of us were certainly speculating about it - scratch your head no more! EA SPORTS has confirmed that the NHL 18 Beta is in fact now open for everyone - no beta code necessary. Just jump into the Playstation or Xbox store and you should be able to locate the beta for download. Chances are, you've already been enjoying the beta for a week. In that case, just continue enjoying - no further action necessary! As you can see from the below image we snagged from their Instagram post, the beta will now end on the 8th of August. Without further ado, pick up those controllers and see you on the ice! On behalf of the NHLGamer staff,

  5. Hey guys, just wanted to check in over here to see how things were going on the Euro side of competitive EASHL. I have to say there are a lot of things you guys do differently over here that I think we should pick up on for our competitive club league. We already picked up on the European style points system with W/OTW/OTL/L rather than the usual NHL style. I think it works out a lot better especially in a game like NHL 17 where there isn't a huge skill gap. I get a lot of people on my youtube channel (Between the Pipes) asking about 6v6 leagues for European players and I make sure I point them in the direction of this site (i've only every heard of the ECL). I will be sure to stick around and try and keep up with what's going on over here! Hopefully one day there will be a way to play each other without too much of a delay or even on LAN (lul). Playing Nordic Nightmare on 150 ping isn't very fun Also really glad to see your main player base is on the PS4, it's way better. Just checking in.

  8. Forward: I personally liked the changes that have been made and the games are looking sligtly more like real hockey games. (more passing, puck moving faster?). Player types are in quite good balance now. Defenceman: Felt like mistakes are more costly, right stick won't save you anymore once you get under pressure. Team's positioning plays bigger role than before. Goalie: Breakaways are a bit more difficult, otherwise quite similar to NHL17. However, in my opinion the development after NHL16 has been mostly negative, goalies are forced to play more and more on standing feet, not moving much, which makes the controlling easier but boring (+ pretty much everybody will be playing in a similar way). From other point of view learning to play as goalie is easy so finding a goalie for 6s probably gets easier as well.

  9. Yes, i'm a svampman. And I would say that NOS with Plee, Tbnantti and Floor is the best team I've played so far in this game. It was a fucking rollercoaster Willi in Muki was pretty slippery 2, as always.

  10. Good job snagging two hot commodities! We recorded the show on Sunday so that could be a factor regarding inaccurate information

  11. It's hard for me to comment on the different play styles. I've only played a couple of European teams in NHL17 and it's always when we throw together a random 6 from our league's chatbox hahah. North American teams have a big play style difference between Xbox and PS4 teams. We are all starting to merge together onto PS4 though so you really see the difference. Xbox teams focus heavily on puck possession and forcing their way into the middle for the perfect chance. I see good teams taking ~8 shots a game. The top PS4 teams like JAM JAM JAM are similar with the puck possession (I think every good team is), but they will work the point more and throw shots on net more. It's nice to see that both styles are still effective.

  16. C | RW looking for active 6v6 team to stay. Any ECL division is fine as long as team is active and there's enough icetime available. I'm 27 years old and have played EASHL since NHL 10 https://nhlgamer.com/player.php?playerID=72 PM here or PSN: Lionite

  17. From goalie's perspective: I was really hoping (like I've done for years now) that EA would take this game in the direction where goalies get rewarded really well for being in position (and maybe even knowing when to go into butterfly and when to standup),but in meantime goalies would get punished unforgivenly for being out of position. Instead, we see goalies making huge saves while being out of position, maybe even on the wrong side of the net. In addition, goalies who are squared off to the shooter and actually take away the shot angles are getting beat by snipes, deflections, sloppy ass shots and all that great stuff. I think it's just those few things EA should do and it'd change the goalies' game dramatically and we could see real difference on the skill level of the goalies. Instead of having goalies that are bad and who are good, we could actually classify goalies horrible, bad, decent, good, incredible. But as of right now, it's really hard to standout as a goalie in this game and have some recognition unless you play for a top notch team. Plus the goalies' game book is still the same: find that one thing that works and abuse it. Whether it is about sitting in a butterly 24/7 or standing up the whole game, for the past 3-5 NHL games it's been all about finding that one stupid trick to be a top level goalie instead of actually learning how to use your goalie's skill set. And yes goalies do have a skill set, it might be quite limited but it really exists, it's just not needed in the game as it's either about standup only or butterfly only.
