ECL ’26: Spring - Ability Bans

To continue the conversation from the old thread...

Now that the season is almost over for everyone, I would like to start a discussion about the upcoming tournaments and the ability bans.

After playing the game more, I have to admit that I’ve started to doubt the “ban them all” approach.
 

Why do I think we need abilities?

I feel that the whole game has developed around the abilities, and I have a feeling that it will turn into a lot of turtle defense vs. turtle defense if all the abilities are banned. It could also force players to use builds that they normally wouldn't want to use.

I propose banning all the Elite abilities. The currently allowed gold and blue abilities are pretty well-balanced. You could also keep the currently allowed gold abilities only if the community prefers that. Another interesting option would be allowing only one (gold or blue) ability per player.

Please share your opinions. Does anyone else have doubts about the “ban them all” approach like I do?

Game is bad shit and its glitchy with all bs what can happen is there. so i think we should not change nothing at all in baning or rules or what, i think game is pretty balanced now how balanced it can actualy be.

If you want to change something then do it in next game not this one.  There is no reason to change , because after this next half of year will be new game, so you will change again rules, i think if you pick out rules than stick with them till the next game, adjust something if something comes overpowered but like ban it all on the 2nd season its kinda crazy gamble, are game will be even playable, better or even worse.

Tbh this season was just fine after they fixed the cost of abilities. Well there's many abilities that people use. Like pretty much all Dmen have Elite Rocket and Elite Stick. Forwards usually have elite backhand (cheap) and some sort of forehand shooting. But I've noticed there's bit of variety and that's something I hoped for. Also not everyone uses 183/88 PWF which is nice too. 

Don't really see how banning elite abilities would change much. Maybe the backhand ability is a bit OP but there was very little goals for us this season it was the reason for goal. I even missed two very good backhand goals in the Pro Finals even tho I had it activated. 

TLDR; I would keep it as is. Goalie abilities I don't understand so cant talk about them.

Keep the abilities as they are now to avoid turtle defense. Maybe ban orange abilities if anything. Goalies i dont know anything other than that sponge looks illegally good.
