Hey everyone! I've always been bothered how the ECL is called the "European Championship League", But there's always 2 winning teams per year? Doesn't quite feel that much like a European championship, at least for me. I've talked about this for many years but I feel like the community is getting bigger and naming 1 European Champion per year would be smart thing to do, for the players + for the people watching. My suggestion: - 1 ECL every NHL. But make the season last 2x longer. So For Elite let's change the 30 games to 60 etc etc.. - In the middle of the season: Have the same promotion/relegation system in place as we do now, so It still takes the same time to get promoted/relegated between divisions. - After the promotions/relegations let's have a cup type tournament for every division, let's call this the "ECL Cup". Where we have a BO5 playoffs for each divisions playoff teams at that moment to determine the "ECL Cup" winner for each division. OR this "Cup" could also be split into 2, so combined playoff bracket from let's say Elite/Pro divisions best teams and making 1 big playoff bracket (of course more teams from the higher divisions would be added). and 1 cup for lite/neo/core (you could go into a lot of different directions with this). - After we have the "ECL Cup" winners, all the standings in the divisions are reset, and the divisions continue the same as we have now. And at the end of it all, we have all the divisions champions in place for that NHL, Elite's winner can call themselves the European Champion. Similar system is in place in Finland's junior leagues (without the cup thing) 😀 Let me know what you think. Would love to get feedback + opinions.

2. Was sind Deine bisherigen Highlights in Deiner EASHL-Karriere? 4. Was ist Dein Lieblingsessen? Wasted Penguinz - Wide Awake (Special Shoutout an @esdor) 12. 18.

NHLGamers, Västerås IK is a Swedish ice hockey club with a very long history. At the moment, it is playing at the second highest tier of competition in Sweden. In their past also lies a 12-season stretch in the national top league between 1988 and 2000. With a long history in hockey, moving to console hockey was their great next step. Jimmy Gerdin, media officer at Västerås IK, commented on the club's decision to join console hockey. "From the club side, we thought it was time to try to get the team into esports. We have received a lot of requests in recent years to start a team, so we put the ball in the hands of our own fans, who had the opportunity to form a team that would represent Västerås IK." The pandemic situation around the world also affected the club's willingness to build a new console hockey team alongside their hockey team. Gerdin highlights the locality of the players and their passion for the club. "First of all, we see it as a fun initiative because it is a team made up of local players who are passionate about the club. When it comes to the situation with the pandemic and the economy, this is not a burden on the association either financially or in terms of workload. This is run entirely voluntarily by the dedicated supporters and players who are passionate about both VIK and esports. Moreover, this is a sport that is not affected by either crowd restrictions or the spread of infection among the players." Daniel @Gunde021 Gunstedt, who's the acting netminder of the Västerås IK console hockey team, commented on his interest in console hockey and his association with the club's colours: "We are all very passionate about console hockey and the fact that we will then get the chance to represent our favourite team Västerås IK setting up a team for esports is an absolutely amazing feeling. Hockey is a great sport and playing alongside teammates and competing is probably the best thing." Västerås IK is heading into the upcoming ECL 11 season with an experienced team, as there are several players who have previous experience in the ECL, among other leagues. "We are part of a team with previous experience competing in esports such as the ECL but we also have some players that are brand new to the competitive scene as well. Many have previously played club games and such, but simply haven't taken their game to the next level yet, so it's a little new for some." Expectations for the team are high, as several players are looking to up their level or get back to their prime: "The goal of the team is to get as far in the divisions framework as possible. Me and a few more of the team have previously played in the Pro and that's where you want to be again, preferably higher than that of course!" The players took initiative in starting up the esports club for Västerås IK in the offseason. Gunstedt opens up about the steps in building their squad. "It started with the gang deciding to leave the Xbox for Playstation and talking to some of the Swedish community on Facebook. In the recruitment process when we got to know each other I realized they were also supporters of Västerås, which made the selection rather smooth. The idea really took off and when connecting with the club we learned that also they were extremely interested in setting up an esports team." "As a team, we try to be hard to play against, focusing a lot on team play, where everyone has to do their part to succeed. As a goalkeeper, I want to say that I have a pretty good idea of the game, but there is still a lot of work to be done." - Gunstedt on their team strengths and his own play in net.

cHIIMERa – Northern Stars Today we have the privilege of interviewing Viktor “cHIIMERa” Ghamari from Northern Stars! Let’s have a chat with him! (((NOTE: Interview done BEFORE ECL!))) What’s up Viktor! Hey man! Not much, sitting here and waiting to get some sleep after a long day at school. How about you? Haha I'm fine, just busy with these interviews before ECL starts! Northern Stars and some of your players have an almost godlike reputation over Xbox. Tell us PlayStation -players why is that? Well thanks for setting the expectations extremely high for us SeRe Hm.. We managed to make a name for ourselves back in the earlier years of EASHL. We won some consecutive championship titles, and uhm.. We got lots of hype and I think that it kinda got stuck you know? Haha no problem! But are you actually that good? This will be great test for many teams to see what kind of team you really are, but have you noticed other teams while on PS4 that can compete with you and you know you will have hard time with against them? Hm.. Now that’s a question I definitely would like to think thru before answering. If I would have time that is. I’ll turn the question around a bit and say that the rest of the teams have caught up with us. We’re still performing on a high level but so are other teams also. There is at least 10 teams I’ll be going: ”Oh nice it’s them! Let’s step our game up boys” about It’s going to be an interesting ECL for sure! How would you describe Northern Stars and how was your team founded in first place? Are you guys all from Sweden and are you friends in real life? Northern Stars was created back in NHL 09 by Falkiniz who has retired. I joined the team on its birthday and have been playing here ever since. I guess it’s one of my qualities that I’m veeeeeeeery loyal Floor, ma0niii and OODAP joined in NHL 10. Rullstolskalas, Mullweiser, Robhaf and M4Gustafsson joined in NHL 13. And that has been our roster, until NHL 16 when Plee joined us. We’re all from Sweden except OODAP and Plee. They’re Finns. Me, ma0niii and Floor are good IRL-friends now. Just from getting to know eachother over NHL. I think that’s pretty cool. How I would describe us? In all honesty we’re just a bunch of merry misfit’s when it comes down to our parties on PSN. One weirder than the other. But We’re having fun. And thats all that matters Hmmm interesting! How about this next-gen EASHL hockey. It’s pretty different comparing to older gen. How do you like it and how your team has been able to adapt to this new hockey game? I would say that the game is bit slower and more defense oriented isn’t it? Harder to score as well. Of course as we’re a decent team offensively we’ve been a little frustrated with our inability to rack up goals as we managed to do before. But that’s how the game has evolved. With that said, we don’t mind playing ”defense first” either. Now the series tends to give us many tight and exciting games since we started playing NHL 16. Now just a simple question! Tell us about you, and how did you end up playing NHL at the 1st place? Easy enough I’m Viktor Ghamari, 29 years old swede playing for Northern Stars. I like Cats and… Haha I got you didn’t I? Pretty hard to tell other people about yourself without making it sound like a job interview... I’ve been hearing that I’m a pretty nice guy. I’ll just leave it like that. When I started playing NHL? This is going to sound a bit funny I think. It was a rainy autumn day back in 1993. I put NHL 93 into the SNES and picked up the controller. And that was all I needed, I was hooked. From there I pretty much enjoyed the series on a recreational level. I mean since then I have been familiar with the series but it wasn’t until I first tried NHL 08 on Xbox 360 I started playing on a more regular basis. So do you play anything besides NHL? Both yes and no. I tend to grab the big releases, play them through and then leave them into my drawer. So it’s not very lasting. I can go for months without playing anything. Then I’ll play 5-6 days a week for a month. It all comes down to what the new releases are. Right now Fallout 4 is a game I’ve been waiting forever. So I have been playing that like a crazy for a while. Witcher 3 was an awesome release in 2015 as well, waiting for the next DLC. Why did you guys decided to swap from Xbox to PlayStation? I actually think the Xbox 360 community came together pretty well trying to make most of us to choose the same console as the release of PS4 and Xbox ONE came closer. There was this poll on ConsoleHockey where people voted on which console you should grab and PS4 had a clear advantage. There was also this awesome blogger on 360 named Jesus (We miss you buddy!) that preached it was time to move on. So for us as a team which doesn’t like to spend time in the dressing room, it really wasn’t the hardest choice. Are there any familiar teams or players at the tournament? Even though this will be our first tournament on the PlayStation side. We have been sharing ConsoleHockey for years. So some of the teams I’ve known before even playing against them. Carlsberg HC, The United Knights, Nordic Nosebleed and Nordic Blizzard are some of those teams. I have to be honest. I’ve seen lots of individual skill on the other teams as well. But I haven’t played long enough on PlayStation to remember the actual names of the players. I’m sure this upcoming tournament will give me lots of info for the future. You said this will be interesting ECL but will this be the best European league so far by skill and competition? I think so yeah. I mean the tournaments played over the years has mostly been like ”these are probably the 4 teams in the semifinals.” And most of the times those 4 teams were eventually the ones to reach that semifinal spot. This year on the other hand I’m completely clueless. It’s both exciting and intimidating at the same time. But we’re looking forward to get started! Would you agree that ECL is the biggest reason to play EASHL or even NHL itself? This is a no brainer for us. Yeah it is. The thrill of EASHL tends to fall off for us around November every year. After that it’s just sitting around and waiting for the tournament to start. Are there any rivalry teams or players contending in ECL? The truth? We don’t have any rivals, but obviously we try extra hard against the best teams. I mean we are sure to get some rivalries. In time.. But since this is our first tournament on PlayStation we just have to wait and see. I have to give Sjukstugan a mention though. They’ve been around for some years now. Coming over from the 360 side. They have a really solid defense and it is always a pleasure to play against them. I wish we could have a chance to play more against other teams but we have far too few games played against Carlsberg HC, The United Knights, Nordic Nosebleed, Mukimiehet, Nordic Stars etc. to consider them as rivals. But they’re good teams nevertheless! Who is the player opponent should keep eye on? Hm.. Now giving away that information wouldn’t be very bright would it? Jokes aside. We’re good at different things. It all depends on what aspect of the game we’re looking. Mullweiser can score plenty of goals in a game if you don’t defend properly against him on the one timers. Floor has always been superb at reading the game over the years and always tends to make the right calls on ice. Plee is lethal.. He can create a scoring chance out of nothing. Rullstolskalas is the best defender of the game in my book. And Robhaf dishes out the pain like no one else. OODAP is a great goaltender as well. When his internet works. Unfortunately for us it does work in 3% of the games we’re playing though Haha.. And me.. I’m our quarterback. Hahaha.. Woah! Thank you for giving us your time, it was nice to chat! Good luck for you guys to the upcoming tournament! The pleasure is all mine SeRe. Nice to chat with you indeed! I just gotta say. Keep on doing what you’re doing guys. Great job with the new webpage! And for the taking the time to help make our community better and interesting. I really like what I’ve seen of your work this far! I was supposed to sleep 1 hour ago. Time really flies.. Take care! --- I hope you enjoyed this one eventhough I wasn't able to post this before. I want to thank cHIIMERa one more time for this great interview! Be sure to leave a like/ comment and check out my social media! I hope to see you guys for the next post! See you later! www.youtube.com/FlNSeRe www.facebook.com/FINSeRe www.twitch.tv/FINSeRe

Jageksi – Dynasty This time we have Jaakko ‘’Jageksi’’ Iivonen from Dynasty with us! Let’s see what he has in mind! (((NOTE: Interview done before ECL!))) Hey Jageksi nice to have you! How are you doing? I’m doing fine thanks! I started at University of Tampere this year so I haven’t had much time to play, but I’m still very excited about the upcoming ECL! Who wouldn't? Anyways tell us little bit about yourself and how did you end up playing NHL at the first place? I’m 21 years old guy from Tampere, who is studying business in University. My NHL career started when I was a little baby and I played with my father (actually my dad played against AI, but I didn’t know that). I started to play more seriously maybe in 2009, when I played my first EASHL games and since then I just wanted to become a better player and learn more from the best players. So what kind of team is Dynasty exactly? I assume it's pretty new, but what is the creational story behind it? Yeah we started to play this year! The story behind the team is that we wanted to get a small group that is very motivated to improve our playing in every game. The second reason that made this team possible is that many Xbox players switched to PS4 this year. Now I have played with these guys about 3 months and I can honestly say that I have enjoyed every moment! So have you know these guys before or were they just complete random to you? I met Kellosuutari on my short visit at Xbox. Lukkolinho, jumalpeku, janbonator and gendlik I have met IRL. Snapu48 was a complete stranger to me, but when I heard he has played for Helsingin Tappara, I knew he was our "special one" for RD position. vSilenttio is one of the best defenders, but he is in the army now, so he hasn’t played much with us which is pity. As we know, this is the first next-gen EASHL. How does it feel comparing to previous NHL's and how much adaption you had to make from the old-gen? Well I had break from EASHL last year, but I could say that team playing is the number one thing this year, because you really need to cycle the puck really fast and there is not many opportunities for soloing this year. This has also affected my current playstyle since I have liked the puck in recent years So what kind of hockey does Dynasty play then? Our key words are: discipline, compact defense and simple attacking. If you want more information you just need to play against us Would you say that this is the best European wide EASHL tournament ever, since we are having all major Xbox and PS teams at the same tournament? Absolutely! The tournament winners can really call themselves "The Champion"! I’m also excited to play against former Xbox teams like Northern Stars, Synergy Hockey and Sjukstugan! Speaking of teams, which ones will be the top teams in this tournament in your opinion? Well my prediction for TOP-3 would be Northern Stars, THE UNITED KNIGHTS and Carlsberg HC, but there are still numerous teams that might make a surprise! Many captains I have interviewed told me that tournaments like this are the actual point to even buy NHL. How do you think? They are wise captains These tournaments are pure diamond because every team plays seriously and you really need to work hard to earn points! Are there any rivalry teams for you in this tournament? Our club is so new that we don’t have any specific teams, but I’m personally waiting to play against Northern Stars, THE UNITED KNIGHTS and Carlsberg HC. How do you see Dynasty succeeding in this tournament? I think we have a chance to really succeed in this tournament, but we don’t have any named goal And I’m saying this because, I think you are able to play your best when you don’t have any extra pressure! Can you name few players from EASHL scene who are truly superstars by pure talent? What kind of players they are and what would you like to learn from them? There are many great players around, but I’ll mention few. Urlauber61 is pure magic and I’m very grateful that I have had a chance to play with this "genius". Hansulinho has the best hands and it’s a nightmare to defend against him. And now that I have played against the mighty Viktor (cHIIMERa), I could say that he is the calmest player I have ever seen! How about your team, who would you name to be your teams MVP and why is that? Hard question because I think we all have our own duties and I think everyone fulfill it perfectly. Lukkolinho is our gatekeeper and Snapu48 is our leader as a captain. I’m here to score goals, gendlik is our puck handling master. jumalpeku is the guy you just want to have in your own team. Kellosuutari and janbonator are our two-way players and they both are very talented. vSilenttio is in the army and he joins us in March 2016. Well thank you for this interview! Would you like to say anything for the readers or anyone? You are welcome, it has been pleasure to talk with you! I’ll send my greetings to NHLGamer staff which made this tournament possible! And for the other teams I’ll say that let’s thank these guys by having a great and fair tournament where everyone supports each other even when you lose an important match! --- This was the second interview in this series, I hope you enjoyed reading this as I enjoyed doing it! I have to add special thanks to Jageksi one more time for this interview! Be sure to leave a like/ comment and check out my social media! I hope to see you guys for the next post! Nephenzy – Synergy Hockey So today we have Peter ‘’Nephenzy’’ Andersson from Synergy Hockey over here for a brief interview. Let’s get into it! (((NOTE: Interview done before ECL!))) Peter what’s up, how are you doing! Hi SeRe! Everything is just great, I´m excited about the upcoming ECL! Nice to hear! So what kind of team is Synergy Hockey exactly? When was it founded? Well Synergy Hockey is a team built by random hockey gamers from Sweden, not many of us knew each other before NHL 09 except a few of us. Synergy Hockey was founded and emerged late NHL 11. Members of two teams BIF Blizzards and Blades of Swedes on PS3 started up this new team together. The main concept for us is to have a great team spirit and work together for better and worse. So has the roster been mainly the same over the years? We have had some changes and lots of different rosters throughout all of these years and there was this one year, NHL 13 where we changed to Xbox and we played in two different teams instead of Synergy. But we have a core that has been together since the very beginning and last few years we have had a pretty solid roster with a few minor changes. Last year we played a few other games since there was no EASHL on PS4, so the group feels pretty strong nowadays. Now something easier! Who are you and how did you end up playing NHL in the first place? Well I´m just an old hockey maniac living in Sweden. I have dedicated my life to all kinds of team play games which are my biggest passion. I have played all NHL games since the first one on SEGA called EA Hockey. Me and Isindar did some online leagues several years on PC but when EASHL was introduced on console, it was natural that we bought it and started to play together instead of against each other. This is the 1st next-gen NHL with EASHL and even better, it seems that every major Xbox team has transferred to PS4, so we are going to have truly great tournament. What are your thoughts of the game itself and what do you think about upcoming tournament, would you agree that it’s going to be the best European EASHL tournament ever thus far? Yeah I´m really excited about this upcoming tournament and the future of this community with the new NHLGamer. I´m a bit worried how this home captain lag will affect games and what problems it might bring. But I hope that honesty and good sportsmanship will be in a big part. And yeah there are so many good teams out there and this has the potential to be the best tournament ever. There are lots of teams known for something, like The United Knights for its defense or Northern Stars for its offense. What kind of team is Synergy Hockey? Hmmm I don´t know really.. We pass the puck a lot, maybe too much for our own good sometimes. We try to be solid and complete in both ends. The game is so tight nowadays so It´s all about being focused and trying to keep cool head even when things don’t go your way. Are you fully Swedish team? Do you think swedes are better in EASHL than other nationalities? Yeah our roster has swedes only. No I don’t really think swedes are any better. I don’t see that much Swedish teams as there was a few years back. There is a lot more Finnish teams and players, but i don’t think that nationality can determine whether you’re better in EASHL or not. It all comes down to the chemistry and the confidence of the team. Is this kind of tournaments the actual point to play EASHL or even NHL? Yeah I really think so. I feel that EASHL is all too friendly where everyone are changing teams and so on. These tournaments build all the feelings you can’t get from regular EASHL games; team spirit, rivalry and much more. I would still play NHL but not half as much if it wasn’t for these tournaments. So you guys have some special rivalries? Well I think we have many rivals, Laser HT has knocked us out in a few quarterfinals and then we had this one semifinal when we had a real beef, most of them are in Beatless now I think. But yeah you see lots of Finnish teams every night and you want to beat them... But it´s a bit special nowadays to meet a Swedish team when there is so few of them. What kind of beef you had with Laser HT? Well there was an incident with a player in their team who couldn´t get back into their roster due to the 12 hour ‘’club change’’ -block on NHL 14 I think. The result was that the game was delayed 45 minutes and TGMA called a WO for us. Something you really don’t want in a playoffs. Resulting in a major fight on the ConsoleHockey and a few suspensions. We got one win for that game, but they turned the table and won the series 4-3. They had some strong characters like Seppo and Hansulinho who were able to turn the series around. Also two of our Synergy players Pelle and Dunza played in Laser HT at that time but it's kind of history nowdays. Which teams do you see competing in the top of the standings in the next tournament? There is so many good teams now but I think Northern Stars, Dynasty, Carlsberg HC and Infinity will surely be in the top. Who would you like to highlight from your team, who will be a pain on the ass for opponents? I really dont like to highlight anyone in that way, the team is bigger than any player but anyway I think many EASHL players know that Supremski is a world class defefender on both offense and defense. But we really have to make it as a team. Woah! Thank you for giving us your time, it was nice to chat! Good luck for you guys to the upcoming tournament! Thank you as well for this interview and all the great work for the community. keep it up and good luck to everyone participating in ECL, see you on the ice. Cheers! --- I want to thank Nephenzy one more time for this interview, hopefully you readers also enjoyed! Be sure to leave a like/ comment and check out my social media! Cheers! The Rulebook for the ECL has been updated with several important points. Please always refer to the rulebook for the full ruleset - this news story is intended to highlight some of the additions and/or amendments to the rulebook. Without further ado, let's jump into the new rules. Betting While the ECL isn't officially associated with any betting company, some companies have started offering bets on ECL Elite games. This is an honor for us, as it means our games are appreciated at the same level of seriousness as we play and organize them with. In addition to the raised importance of reporting the games and potential reschedules in a precise and timely manner, the introduction of betting poses some potential risks involving integrity. In order to ensure the integrity, members of ECL Elite teams are hereby prohibited from betting on ECL Elite games or other ECL Elite related bets. ECL Elite Playoff Schedule Below you'll find the ECL Elite Playoff Schedule and the dates for the broadcasts (starting time 20:00 CEST). The goal is to cover two of the quarterfinals, both semifinals, and the finals. ECL Pro, Lite & Neo Playoff Schedule Below you'll find the playoff schedule for the rest of the divisions. Due to the overlap of the different division's playoffs, our goal is to cover all of the divisions' finals on our broadcasts. Rescheduling games into the future This is not a new rule, but something we ask teams to pay attention to. Games should never remain unplayed and unreported on a past date. If the games can't be played on the default date, discuss the new date with the opposing team's captains and use the rescheduling tool to update to the new date. This also applies to games played ahead of time - please reschedule them for the earlier date and time before playing and reporting. This is important for e.g.: Betting Fans following your games League staff making sure everything is running as planned End of the regular season Here you'll find the information on the last day to play your games. Any games left unplayed can end up being decided by the League Administration. Instigating a fight While we haven't been presented with any actual evidence about instigating a fight prior to a faceoff, we've been contacted by numerous teams worried about players instigating a fight before faceoffs. In order to save us all from the trouble of speculating about the topic - especially as instigating fights prior to faceoffs is generally speaking pointless - we have decided to ban this behavior. That being said, if you can properly prove that this actually gives you a boost, please send us the evidence, as we're sure EA Sports would appreciate it. Accidental fights Accidental fights rarely get started - in fact, not even once per season. However, it can happen, so we decided to add it to the rulebook to describe what to do under these circumstances and what the outcome could be if the League Administration deems the "accident" intentional. Reporting game immediately after game As mentioned earlier in this article, there are more eyes on the ECL and more teams in the ECL than ever before. This is why it's crucial that games are reported at the very latest within 24 hours of the game. It is good practice to report the games by the end of the evening, though. ECL Elite games must be reported directly after the game. This improves the experience for betting and allows our articles and broadcasts to always work with the most up to date information. Our broadcasts actually get the up to date numbers immediately after reporting now. Winning team reports games This is not a new rule, but something many seem to have a misconception of due to memories of ECL seasons in the past. The winning team is responsible for reporting the games. The losing team is, however, also responsible for documenting the necessary data as a backup. ECL Neo Playoffs Due to the expansion of ECL Neo from 32 teams to 84 teams, we added more groups and more teams make the playoffs. Here's how it works: Transfer Deadlines We allow transfers in ECL. Transfers are like trades, but there isn't a requirement for teams to get anyone in return. Note: The transfer deadline is just around the corner. In order to leave a team or transfer, a player has to request that the captain drops them from the roster. This is to make sure the communication is there when leaving teams - in order to not leave the old team in trouble. How to get help I get messages (PM, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, PSN, email, etc) daily asking for help with a lot of ECL related questions. This applies to many other members of our staff as well. While we love to help you, when you get spammed with 30-50 messages on random platforms each day, it becomes an unmanageable task. In order to be able to help you in a structured way, we offer our support section. Support can be accessed through the Team Tools (for captains) and through the community. Consider bookmarking this link: https://nhlgamer.com/community/support/. Please keep in mind that while we try to reply as soon as we can, sometimes it will take a while for us to get back to you. The important part is that you report the issue and we'll help you out as soon as we can. Thank you for your patience. We hope you found these updated rules logical and reasonable. Please let us know if there are any questions and suggestions on how you would make the rulebook even better. UPDATE: 21.04.2020 Updated Lite playoff specifics (5.6) 22.04.2020 Tweaked Pro transfer deadline to be in line with Lite and Neo (14.1)

NHLGamers, We’re closing in on the eSHL season and are about one month away from puckdrop and with that the time has come to announce yet another participating team. Linköping HC hails from the south of Sweden and has signed the very prestigious roster of FILADELPHIA. The team is regarded mostly as a Finnish group but their roster actually holds two Swedes as Joel @jtorro1233 Tourunen and the newest acquisition Casper @ICappeI Lundgren are sporting their colors. This acquisition raises the stakes significantly and is a great boost to the competitiveness of the entire league, as the former FILADELPHIA dominated the game in several ways during NHL 19 and has continued staying at the top in NHL 20 despite not quite reaching similar levels of success. Their star studded offense certainly needs no introductions with multi-champion Erik @Eki Tammenpää flanking the right side, “Mr. Selke” Joonas @Juunas Paatiala centering and the prodigal son turned seasoned and decorated veteran Paul @PleeMaker Arontie on the left. This trio will look to continue wreaking havoc now in the fresh colors of Linköping HC. "This acquisition shows that we mean business when entering the esports scene. We truly want our team to compete at the top level and show up when the brightest trophies are being dealt. There's no doubt that Casper together with his team will represent the LHC lion with pride and lead the way for our entry into esports", says Michael Sturehed, marketing manager at Linköping Hockey Club. Linköping Hockey Club roster: GOALTENDER #72 Casper @ICappeI Lundgren 🇸🇪 DEFENSEMEN #27 Aleksi @loimmu Loimuvirta 🇫🇮 #40 Joel @jtorro1233 Tourunen 🇸🇪 #88 Joonas @SUPERVIRTA Virta 🇫🇮 FORWARDS #25 Erik @Eki Tammenpää 🇫🇮 #44 Paul @PleeMaker Arontie 🇫🇮 #86 Joonas @Juunas Paatiala 🇫🇮 The newest face in the team is also a very experienced player and is one of the most highly regarded Swedish talents playing the game currently. Goaltender Cappe joined the team on September 17th and has been as solid as ever in his new jersey since the transfer. Cappe was also one of the main facilitators in signing with Linköping, so we caught up with him for a chat about the situation: What was it about Linköping that enticed you the most? Ever since our first contact, Linköping impressed us with their attitude towards esports and their ambitions with this project. They sold the idea that this project will be a big part of the club and the LHC family going forward. We're also very honored to be representing a club with a great history of developing talented players and outstanding individuals. Despite you and Torro representing the club, FILADELPHIA is generelly regarded as a Finnish team. Were you set on participating in eSHL right froom the get go? Most definitely. As soon as information about the eSHL reached us, we made a decision to reach out to some teams and enquire about their interests. Sweden isn't that heavily represented at the top of the European standings, so we felt that we are in a great spot going into the negotiations. In my opinion it's interesting to see teams like for example Luleå, with varying nationalities competing at the top. You recently assumed the role as the number one goalkeeper of FILADELPHIA after a long watch under the duo @sibeelius & @FinKonna. How has playing for you new team felt and was the transfer something that was planned long ahead? The transfer discussions happened rather quickly after our run in IS Cup 4. Sibe and Konna surely left me some big boots to fill, but I feel we've been doing great and the boys are making it comfortable to play behind them. Since day one, I've felt very welcome and a part of the team. It's not hard to feel right at home with a captain like @Juunas, what a great guy he is! The new league must be something of a dream come true for a Swedish competitive player. How does it feel to be one of the very best domestic talents in the league and what kind of goals have you set personally for the upcoming season? It's something we've been dreaming about for sure. Personally, I'm going to do everything in my power to win every game I play. I've got a winning mentality and losing is the absolute worst thing I know. As a team we're incredibly hyped about eSHL and will obviously be looking to put a trophy on the shelf at the end of the season. Currently the team stands second in the regular season of ECL 9 Elite and will be playing their last two games tonight against Luleå Hockey. Linköping has a chance to overtake their sweet rival HAVU Gaming for a number one seed going into the playoffs whereas Luleå is looking to secure a favorable matchup for their first round opponent. At the time of posting this article, you can head over to twitch.tv/I_Eki_I or twitch.tv/luleahockeyto watch the game.

Floor17- Northern Stars (NOS) ECL Hidden Gems is a concept that was created by @The_Alpha_Furyan and @pnordetun (patovic). The idea evolved out of discussions concerning what type of content patovic himself would like to see more of at NHLGamer.com and what kind of texts he'd be most interested in writing. Hidden Gems, for the purposes of this feature, means players that the author feels haven't quite gotten their time to shine at NHLGamer or players that aren't getting full credit for the skill they bring to the table. This is the first edition in a six-part series that patovic has written so do enjoy the witty writing of "pato" and leave a comment with your thoughts on the piece. I might find myself out on thin ice over some pretty deep waters right about now, but the fact is that Northern Stars veteran Daniel Anderzon aka @Floor17 doesn't quite get the recognition he deserves in the ECL community. This is a player who is a 5-time ECL veteran (and lord knows how many 6v6 tournaments before that!) that routinely manages to control all aspects off the game, in all zones off the ice. Not only that, he is a beast at the Versus portion of the game as well, having won one Swedish championship and making it far in various other tournaments. As the great coach Marc Crawford once said: "If you want him to shut down the opponents best player, he will get it done. You want him to score goals? He will get it done. You want him to be a playmaker? He'll get it done. You need him to be physical? He'll get it done. He is so gifted and the list just goes on and on". You can trace the origins of the so-called "floorbandyking" back to the old Xbox team "Swedish Tigers" that featured such legends as ivve83 and unbroken-anders (man, where did those guys go?). Floor17 was truly a dominating force in those early Xbox years and have continued to build his legacy in EASHL ever since. At the beginning of his virtual career, he was considered by many to be more of a pure offensive weapon. This went on for years and especially once he found himself playing with @cHIIMEERa on the Swedish powerhouse Northern Stars. The last few seasons, Floor17 has managed to enhance his repertoire to include an ability to play both wing and defenseman at a very high level, as well as the occasional stint at goaltender. Flash forward to today where NOS had Finnish superstars @tbnantti and @plee999 join the team for ECL 5, it has been quite interesting to see how the old "curveshot master" has adapted to the situation and found an integral two-way role on the roster where he has been a big contributor to the teams' success. To summarize: Floor is awesome at videogame hockey and wins stuff, that is just what he does. It ain't easy winning all the time - if it were, everyone would be doing it! PS. Mean rumours back in the day said that the King of Floorbandy used the "99 overall glitch" in EASHL... and that it was possibly @eyebiz (the old rascal!) who had the hackset to hook him up - but if you ask me? Nah, Floor17 didn't need it then and he doesn't need it now - this man is nothing but skill and determination Floor17 Fact Box [Player profile] Daniel Anderzon, Sweden ECL All-Time Stats: 86GP, 60G, 92A, 152P, +85 Participated in all 5 ECL tournaments at NHLGamer: all five for Northern Stars Favors the RW position in EASHL Swedish Champion of NHL 11 Versus Runner-up (Finalist vs. NHLGamer member @Kribba) in NHL 12 & NHL 13 Versus Text by: @pnordetun Intro and editing by: @The_Alpha_Furyan Art by: @OxtreeLAT

All of us surely appreciate the progress our beloved NHLGamer platform has made recently. Especially this year, with all the changes in ECL Elite. Before the eighth season of the toughest and most prestigious EASHL 6vs6 league in Europe kicked off, founder and owner @Kenu proudly presented the collaboration with Elisa Viihde, the leading online entertainment service in Finland, and Dr. Oetker, a massive and well-known international food corporation. ECL is slowly morphing into a more well-organized and reported league which should bring a lot of fun to all parties involved. However, even a league with these standards can’t exist without the players and with this series it’s time to get to know them. Now it’s time to get to know the ECL’s Elite. In the first ever iteration of this series, @Lamsa will be in the starring role. The Rusty Blades winger is a true NHL veteran. As he never represented any other team competitively, the first steps of the Rusty Blades are still fresh memories! Counting the ongoing season, Lamsa has appeared in 188 ECL regular season games for RB so far – not counting playoffs and the IS Cup. Actually, Lamsa, @Tanski87 and @Supreex are the only three players left from the original season in ECL3 and they’re still going strong. A lot of things have changed since the founding days of the club. In their inaugural season the team had a large roster so the level of play basically changed every night. Personally, Lamsa started with NHL 96 and jumped into EASHL sometime around 2008 or 09. He prefers playing on the Right Wing and using a Sniper build, but he’s playing with a physical edge too. Lamsas all-time favorite build was the Hitting Sniper, which he still misses dearly. When asked about his biggest strengths the wise Finn just replied: "I can score ugly goals for days.“ Last season (ECL 7), the (skate)blades were too rusty. The team finished in tenth place and missed the playoffs. The offseason wasn't spent resting on their laurels though, as captain @Tanski87 took to the free agent market. The team added two high-end forwards in @MartindalexC and @Foppatofflan as well as defenseman @The_Alpha_Furyan. The new additions fit in nearly perfectly. RB managed to cap off their ECL 8 regular season with a great surge into the playoffs, finishing at 6th place, which means they will be going up against Symphony in the first round of the playoffs. Lamsa can’t say enough good things about the teams new acquisitions. "It’s really, really nice to play with these guys. They are all really good and skillful players – I still can’t believe that we got those guys on our roster.“ The Sedin twins (thats how Lamsa calls his two new linemates) were locked down after a quick tryout period and the new defenseman The_Alpha_Furyan already had some existing chemistry with Lamsa after a Summer Cup stint together. Personally, Lamsa is enjoying this really successful season. His regular season totals add up to 44 points, out of which 28 are goals. This puts Lamsa at a tie for 5th best goal scorer in the regular season of ECL 8 Elite, not too shabby! All in all, the goal-scoring Finn seems to be a relaxed and level-headed person. His PSN-ID is actually his last name, just without those dots above the letters. That’s not creative, but it suits him real well. Heading into the playoffs, the Rusty Blades are at a familiar spot as a minor underdog going up against a tremendously strong Symphony. Their opponents seem to have found a form that is close to unstoppable, so it'll be crucial for RB to get back on track and focus on the things they are good at - the basics and go forth from there. One thing is for sure: Lamsa and the Rusty Blades are prepared. And they are not going down without putting up a fight. ECL Elite Writer @Tim_FlyersFan
