  1. There is a lot of talking about game being broken, skating not the same and no tools to defend. I'm sorry for being mr. positive here but I haven't noticed anything being broken. Poking and stick lifting are very logical in my eyes. Every single penalty I've got have been from my personal error and I've known it every time. Skating is fluent and sharp in my hands, loving that I can be very precise with my movement.

What I've seen though is following. Seems like that people are with larger players than in beta. I'll give you simple physics lesson: more mass means more momentum to overcome in changing direction. I use pretty small builds and I feel what I should feel. Crisp agility but physically behind. I just have to adjust my playstyle for it. This doesn't mean that I can't defend with my body, I simply time and position my tackles more accurately. Other that is changed a lot from beta, is peoples skill level. I see that players have gotten better in this game so there is smaller room for error and the tempo is faster.

I can talk only my point of view, but I always first look at things I do before crying out that game is broken. I can't teach you how to stick check properly, but I can tell that for me everything is in line. Best NHL so far and miles ahead compared to 18.

  2. This is a move that was obvious for future. Even not public info this was only logical direction if NHLGamer wants to push NHL as an eSport. There hasn't been an esport game that hasn't started with 3rd party money leagues (excluding Overwatch, because Blizzard). This will be just 1 step in a long journey forward.

In my mind I can see NHLGamer offering both money leagues and free-to-play leagues, but as for the crown jewel, Elite, there is no other way than start bringing money as part of it, if we want keep pushing the skill and professionalism on NHL.

Only time will show how successful all of this will become and if sponsors will start rolling in bigger numbers.

And remember, all of this will support the site financially to grow and evolve. Interested to see where all of this will put us.

  3. Read this in mind that this isn't personal, trying to see objectively.

Every ECL the same show, timetables are tried to bend as much because someone always doesn't commit to the timetable. These are plainly put in the rules. I know that unexpected happen but every single team and player has to be ready for that. By registering you agree and sign the seasons rules and schedules.

IMO good decision to enforce tightly no matter what teams and divisions is in question. Sad that it had to be on top division semifinals, but maybe after this every team will know that you have to plan your team accordingly. Props to LA.

  4. Quote
    • Better precision when detecting puck position during saves for User goalies.
    • Responsiveness updates to User goalie butterfly motion.
    • Added updates to help User goalies challenging shots and tracking the puck. If a user is requesting to move towards the puck, allow the requested motion to transfer into the upcoming save but if the shot is back against the grain, it will not add in momentum to the save.
    • Updated save logic to reduce issues that were causing the user goalie to make save attempts on pucks that were far from the net.
    • Improved responsiveness for actions after quickly switching into control of the goalie
    • Added updates to prevent goalies from knocking their net off in EASHL as an exploit.
    • Added the ability for flinching saves to abort sooner when the puck is deflected away from the net.
    • Improved responsiveness when blending in and out of saves for goalies.
    • Added new VH poke coverage.
    • Added logic to read how much the goalie should lean based on the puck position as they slide into butterfly leans. This allows for better blends and ability to seal off more of the net on the side where the puck is.
    • Various animation improvements for saves where a goalie’s limbs were clipping with each other.
    • Updates to prevent an issue where a user goalie was unable to move post-to-post after a poke check.
    • Updated some saves that were causing the puck to deflect into a goalie's net.

Will some of these fix bug that makes goalies go for top corner save when puck is moving towards them without some shooting it? :D Been laughing my buttocks off on that save logic :D

  5. Full EASHL feedback only from me (played 2 or 3 1v1 games)

    Pros

Lot of physics work lot better, puck moves around and isn't anymore glued to sticks. Hitting more realistic, you don't anymore need the massive hit to make puck go loose. Overall gameplay is more sim like compared previous iterations

    -Physics

    -Puck "reaction"

    -Pickups (most of the time)

    -Goalie movement

    -Customisation

    Cons

-Game freeze bug (apparently has something to do with team customisation) Removing logos from jerseys seemed to work

-Goalie save animation triggers; had lot of goals scored because game triggered some weird save animation and just let the goal being scored. (This is known issue by devs if you look it up on official forums) P.S. Everyday I'm sitting down.

-Shot accuracy on close slot; players seem to be godlike with getting pucks top shelf under pressure within 2m from net. Slapshots need to be tuned down, had multiple slapshots going off like sniper with low shot accuracy builds while being stopped on ice.

-Goalie no mask shot save ability way down, I think this is combination of player supershot and animation trigger issues.

-Way too much goalie interference. Opponent could just run over you as much as they wanted. It seemed that lot of camera reviews didn't just trigger. This is just unacceptable if you compare modern hockey and NHL how easily referees go to the phone.

    Overall

This has lot of goalie pointers because I mainly goaltended on beta. This definitely made me go G for next NHL. It felt good and most of time I felt that goals scored on me were either personal mistakes or just opponent playing me out.

Bugs weren't horrible and most of them are already being reviewed by devs but I hope that freeze issue is fixed ASAP but that wouldn't be as much a gamebreaker as last years input lag was. It doesn't make the game unplayable, it just takes nice visual add out if not fixed.

I'm exicited for new NHL, probably one of the best iterations since 11 or 12. Lot of changed but it is more like polishing good base what 16 was.
