BRAYCE has been one of the teams that have tried to find more games against specifically Finnish and Swedish teams and they've tried pretty much everything

To Brayce if they are reading this I would suggest getting a Router with geo-blocking abilities for example Netgears with DumaOS. Then set your location to Sweden/Finland and limit your perimeter to that area. It should help.

No one can choose the server, for some reason the only way to get a sweeede-server in a north vs central matchup seems to be bootcamping in Lapland (Enigma 👀) or with a one-in-a-million chance like Nordic Stars, —> German teams aren’t able to give up the host even if they’d agree to it. I’m pretty sure most of them would happily let the home team play on their own servers, especially if they could actually pracc against some decent opponents for change

Not even if they change to northern europe under club settings? I wouldnt know, no one has been willing to try :)

I'm not sure why helping these teams find games would automatically be a one-way street. Just as well I can say that you not offering to help is a one-way street to receiving no sympathy when the tables are turned. Obviously whether you cooperate or not, some people will act like jerks. But should we all just default to being jerks, just in case we get our feelings hurt later?

I agree 100% with the idea of home team getting the nearer server, but without server select it's been pretty hard to achieve. Fingers crossed for NHL 21.

It’s not just some people Kenu.

Im not aware of all the matchups between northern european teams and german teams in ECL but the ones I am aware of the german teams have not been willing to share servers, instead referring to the rule book that there is no rules about servers = one way street

Helping these teams is not automatically a one way street but when they are not cooperating in ECL it becomes a one way street. I’m not against searching relaxed, I just don’t feel like helping people who only cooperate when it benefits them.
That’s not the same as being an asshole, that’s being uncooperative towards assholes :)

You made a lot of good observations in your post, but I think it's important to underline that the intent (from what I understand) in the original post is not about forcing anyone, but more of an "can we please cooperate once in a while so that more teams can get quality games".

Perhaps start with a rule for servers in playoffs?

It would be nice as a higher seed team to play your home games on your server, instead of 7 games on the German-server :)

This cooperation thing seem like its just a one way street.

    - Make it more esports-friendly.

    This.

Tbh I really appreciate all the effort put in by nhlgamer to host competitive tournaments with prize pools etc. Then you start a game and first goal you let in is a own goal caused by a puck pickup animation. There is nothing esport-like with the game.

I think EA should make D’s shots a threat again. This will prevent teams from just putting 5 guys in front of the net and actually benefit positioning and defence. This would make the biggest change in gameplay.

i would also like to see fwds get more offensive options as well :)

The swedish community needs more national 6v6 tournaments for sure. There is huge potential here and I do believe NHLGAMER can find good partners to team up with. But the answer to the void for our community as a whole during spring cannot be a swedish tournament for a select few.

Yeah but having a Swedish league does not mean the other nationalities can’t have their leagues. You already have a german league and a russian league, I think? Im sure Finland can come up with a league too. That leaves Connor and Billy, but Im sure they could play in one of the national leagues :) Or some other type of league like an international like suggested in this thread.

My point is that there is no restriction to how many tournaments one can participate in...but the question should rather be how many tournaments are mandatory to play in order to keep your ECL-spot?

I live in North West England and have a ping of around 12-13ms to the EASHL servers located in Dublin, Ireland. Therefore, unless you have some voodoo going on, I don't see how it's possible for you to have had a max. ping of around 12ms. :D

I have no clue how the eashl connection works. But I do know that my router pings a server in California for eashl. I think this has to do with stats etc. If I try to geo-filter just europe I get stuck in dr. But then the router tells me its peer connection, and I can also see my teammates ISPs. If it was only a dedicated server, why would my router care for teammates isps hmm.

I contacted ea about the californian server but they had no clue. Their response was that different countries connect to different servers.

And my 24ms in-game shows up as 54ms on my router, so apparently that is also bullshit.

To sum it up...nobody seem to know how this shit works.

  8. Great post @chavelski:)

I understand your thoughts and feelings pretty well. When we (Norpee, Zejiro86, seaberg86 and me, joined by Normark a month later) started Drunken Rebels back in 2011 we encountered similar "problems". Trying to get better players to our team. Heck even trying to sign up for EHL only to get turned down with "didnt think you guys were serious". Got told a lot during the first year how much we sucked (actually same guys keep telling us 7 years later we still suck).

We disbanded once during the first year and finally merged with Nephenzy and Smutto and later changing name to Synergy.

My advice is one you already seem to comprehend. Turn down any player you wont feel fit the group. Doing this might not win you titles but you will last longer and have more fun with the game. But yeah Its always a struggle to be GM and keep everybody happy.

    Good luck!

  9. I miss the days when spotify or whatever had a negative impact. Today I keep everything running, 4K streaming, Roon music server going at it cause no one bother to turn it off, and girlfriend listening to podcasts. If I turn everything off...and just plug my PS4 with a Supra Cat8 cable (meant for 8k streaming), nothing happens...meaning its equally bad. So yeah its all EA. Wouldn't bother much with other settings. At least that is my experience :)

Defensive skill stick looks cool, as you can cover a side in a 1vs2 or 1vs3, not sure if it actually works when the opponent tries to pass through your stick (didn't work yet).

I've blocked passes with DSS stick, but it only seem to work when the passing player is not too close but let's say in neutral zone, you can kind of stay in the middle and anticipate a pass from C to winger with the DSS

From a goalies viewpoint it's a disappointment. Goalie movement feels slower and clunkier, I'm having much more trouble making saves where i have to move from side to side quickly. More wonky save animations letting in stupid goals. Overall the goalie gameplay just feels kinda ''off'' compared to 17.

Understand yout point, but imo cross creases have been way too ineffective since NHL12. In 18 it's even more easy for Ds to stop passes, so I'm pretty happy that it actually pays to be able to create those scoring chances :)

  12. Unless you also wanna play 4K PC games, Benq have some nice monitors developed for console gaming. Very low input lag.

    Im using the RL2755.

For 4K streaming movies etc you should get a big 4K tv. :)

    Edit:

Right, there are PS4 games with "4k". I would still get one benq for competetive gaming and then a big screen tv for the rest
