  1. We have had couple of reports about cases like this but just couple.

Teams are allowed to postpone any of their games before 18:00 CE(S)T the day the game is supposed to take place according to the schedule. To meet this deadline, it is sufficient to submit a message to at least one of the opponent's captains via private messages on NHLGamer. When doing so, teams must adhere to the following procedure:

If a team asks to postpone a game, then they have the option of moving said game to any of the two directly subsequent default game days, including any non-default days in between (green area in the picture below). The team is obligated to propose the possible alternative days as soon as the team asks their opponent to move the games - "dragging it out" to bypass the second part of the procedure below is not allowed. If the opponent is able to play on one of the proposed days, the game takes place on this day. If the opponent is not able to play on the suggested alternative days and no viable solution is in sight, both parties need to involve League Administration immediately. League Administration will assist in finding a solution.

Life has so many variables and when talking about real life sports the teams usually have a lot bigger rosters than we have here. So one player doesn't effect it that much. Then when we go to higher tiers you don't miss games because of work since that is your work. Sometimes life just gets in the way and that's why the re-schedule is there.

I agree you should always have a backup player but sometimes it just doesn't work out:
8 player roster and 1 of your guys is away from home for couple of days, Your backup has a call during the day that he is needed at work even when he was supposed to have a day off and then your goalie hits their head when walking home since it's really cold and slippery outside and can't make it since he had to go to ER. You could play in couple days when your other goalie is back home and so could the other team with some effort but  they rather try to get walkover since you didn't contact them early enough even tho you really didn't have that many choices to avoid the situation.
I'd rather have these teams play the game another day rather than giving out a walkover but of course the teams previous actions are to be considered.
If the other team has a record of "cat in a tree, head injury, drove to his friends house instead of his own by mistake" type of reports we will take a look at the situation with that in mind.

If we don't get reports there's no way for us to know about these things. Even if you can settle things it's good to send a notice that
"Team X didn't send any notice and didn't show up but we still managed to settle things. just to let you know"

If the opponent agrees, the game takes place at a later day which suits both teams (in compliance with the next scheduling rule below). If the opponent disagrees, League Administration needs to be involved. League Administration will always try to ensure all games are played, however if one or both teams were obviously at fault by disregarding rules or lacking spirit to play games, or if other teams are affected by a delay (e.g. if the next playoff round cannot start on time), walkover wins/losses can be used to resolve this situation.

If a team is more than 15 minutes late to a game without prior notice, the opposing team has the right to request a walkover win. These requests will be looked at by the League Administration and depending on the reason, walkover wins/losses can be given out. To solve these requests we require proof from both teams.

There's a certain situations where walkovers will be given but walkovers are not given lightly since we are all here to play the game.

Well...I don't speak often but sometimes it's unbearable.

Let me give you a fitting example. I played with Inter Iceland in the second round of the Pro Playoffs. We could not get our "main formation" set for three of the total six games played in this series. Actually two positions were filled with players who were not a part of the regular season whatsoever.

    - Did we try to prolong the affected games? No

    - Did we ask to play another time after starting off with two straight losses? No

    - was it the reason we lost the series? Probably not

Of course this series does not get anywhere near the attention that Elite-Series get. But the rules are the same for Elite, Pro and Lite, aren't they? This is not supposed to be an offending reply. I just think that if you have the chance as a GM to get six players of your team to play, even when it's playoffs and not your best of six ... well just do it. Give some other Player on your team a chance.

Winning isn't everything but wanting to win is -_-

This was true sportmanship from Inter Iceland and this is how all teams should act.
In last ECL we had to play with roster that wasn't our main lineup as well.

  3. I like the 3 divisions system

    Elite - 16 teams, 8 to playoffs
    Pro - 20 teams, 16 to playoffs
Challengers - X amount of teams and 16 to playoffs.

16 to playoffs in pro is better than 8 imo because then you have to fight till the very end of the season. Adding 4 slots to pro encourages that. Also there's more than 16 "pro" teams. There's just enough room for 20 in my opinion.

Other than that I like the whole idea of 3 division and I much rather play against opponets on my level than huge Pro division with walkover opponents.
I'm going to play in the 2nd or 3rd division depending on my team so I'm not really biased on this. Elite should stay as it is.
