Kumma juttu. Taklaukset ja isot pommit kuuluvat lätkään mutta aika harvoin änäri pelissäkään niitä nähdään lukuisia. Toisaalta trucu on huonomman pelaajan paras kaveri. Taklaus nappi pohjassa on kiva luistella vastustajaapäin.

I'll also add this. Elite broadcast viewership seems to hover around 90-150 viewers or so every time I happen to open Twitch. That's basically nothing, and I'd wager most of the people watching are either current or aspiring Elite players. We can listen to the top players and make the game play how they want it to, so that it's the most enjoyable for them to play and watch. But if someone thinks the viewers will automatically follow... Just take a moment to reflect on the overall state and health of this great game made by our beloved friend EA Sports. Growing the viewership has to come from outside the Elite bubble, so don't y'all think listening to those people as well would be appropriate? Also, from what I've gathered, seems like a huge chunk of players below the Elite level see those players as arrogant and full of themselves. Take a moment to reflect on that as well. What do you think you are doing about that appearance in this thread for example? Try to look at it from the outside, if you read these messages and didn't know yourselves and your peers at all, what would your perception of them be like? Would it make you want to watch them play this state of the art video game product? If you actually explain your viewpoints in a calm manner, maybe the authority of being a top player with tons of hours put in the game will do you something. Not explaining anything, just saying "we're the best so we know the best + we don't actually care what bans you peasants down there play with, just don't come here affecting our experience". Does that help with one of the main points that shows up here, growing the scene and making Elite viewership skyrocket? Does that make these lower level players, prime target customers for watching you play, want to share their opinions on things? How do you reach these people if you aren't willing to listen to them, just straight up attacking their persona and skill level?15 points

I think the best thing to do is to run a poll for every division in the ECL about this topic.13 points
-
I’m not sure why there is a need to change anything when almost no one is complaining at the moment🤔 of course tipper has to stay banned and trucu and stick ’em up divide opinions and I think it could be either way for those. But banning all traits would take away the variety of scoring goals and making great plays unrewarding😅 But at the end of the day I think the most fair way would be to organize a vote for each division where every team would have 1 vote, then the games could be played the way the majority agrees.12 points
-
Can we just enjoy when we finally have good 6s gameplay. Big tipper is only must ban ability and its already banned. There is no need to fix something what is already working.10 points
-
I understand and respect that you feel that way. You have the right to that opinion. But it is just that, an opinion. Not a fact. To give you an example of the difference, part of your earlier argument was this: Even though this was presented as a fact on your part, I just could not disagree with this more. In my opinion, nothing in NHL 25 has been "worse" for the competitive gameplay experience than the overuse of Stick 'Em Up. It has completely defined the current meta where five guys defend by poke-spamming at the blueline (with an unrealistic amount of success). You absolutely can pokecheck without Stick Em, just like you can hit without Trucu. Difference is; one is used by literally everyone (at least 90% or more) in this game, whereas the other is used by about 50% of the players - at most. You tell me which one is more gameplay-defining? You dislike Truculence and think it ruins the game. I dislike Stick 'Em Up and think it ruins the game. None of us are wrong, none of us are right. We just have different preferences and ideas on what makes for "better" gameplay. Which, by the way, isn't always the same as more entertaining gameplay. My point is, our opinions on this matter aren't facts. Let's get a discussion going instead of just "telling people" what is right or wrong.10 points

This game engine is essentially built around perks, which is EA's fault. The older NHL games had their issues, but I think the best ones were the ones without the BS X-Factors. But at the same time, comparing this NHL to the older ones is pretty pointless, as the game engine is completely different. Personally, I wouldn’t mind seeing what gameplay would be like with only silver abilities. Maybe it’s worth trying? Shooting perks are a must-have, sad but true. Of course, everyone should have their opinion, but banning everything would be the wrong decision, 100%. Banning every ability would be a problem if the players we use in clubs were a lot better than they are9 points
-
Im not sure are you trolling or not Just make a poll for each division. Why SG should make the decision since players are actually paying to play in ELITE, just give players what they want.9 points

It is starting to become a talk without purpose here. Just choose the approach and announce smth in advance before the tournament, that's all. If Poll will help - lets do it. Separate poll is a good thing from one side but on the other hand - its better to have a basic structure for all of SGG as it was mentioned before in terms of growing the community. We already opened the era of Bans so now when we know it is possible to exclude smth from the game we start to decide what we should take out. But we forget that its always personal thoughts of different players\individuals. No sense in covering own wishes with some fancy words - it will end up in personal liking anyway. Most of the guys can play the game as it is right now btw, esp top guys. I personally don't care if there is CQ, 1T or whatever. Goalies are dependable position and rely on the team anyway. Any ban decision will change the game but top players will stay top players. So we getting down to just figuring out what approach here is reasonable. IMO if you wanna ban smth - it should be everything or nothing (Tipper stays banned), cause it would get down to a lot of crazy talks and there will never be a perfect outcome. Its funny how we talk about banning trucu but wanna keep stickemup, also forwards wanna keep 1T, CQ but drop stick and truc. P.S. Could be fun to cut the number of perks per team, so we don't see 5 trucu or 5 sticks, but its the whole different story. Offensive behaviour can lead to some ban time alongside big tipper, as we all know 😀8 points

I know you are just trolling but i will still answer this. How can you say that ones opinions outweigh others opinion? After all, every single player in this community needs to pay for playing here. That gives everybody a right to an opinion whether you like it or not. According to your logic, only Masters of Social Sciences should be granted a vote in a presidential election for example. Just think about it for a second. The actual problem is that no one wants to share their point of view here when they will only get compared to ants. But that was the point in this, right?8 points

There is no reason to ban any shooting abilites since the goalies are so buggy that there is the floating pads bug that has nothing to do with abilities and they let in shots through them even without abilities all the time (everyone who plays hut/versus knows how common this is) this isn’t an ability issue, it’s a game issue. Good scoring chances should be rewarded and the shooting abilities are necessary for that. Trucu ban is obvious, there is no need for a player to be taking 5-10 seconds getting up after a hit as it ruins the flow of the game when teams have to rag the puck waiting for their teammate to get up, you can still do big hits without trucu but recovery time with trucu is too much. Polls are the best way to decide this (obviously)6 points

Maybe everyone just dont dare to say their opinions in public because this scene is kinda toxic nowadays. And if you are not having some kind of status in this scene and you say something different like this scenes cream there is big risk to get kinda offensive behaviour back from this scene6 points
-
Ban everything and there will be no debate. Or ban only the golden X-factor, which will solve all problem.6 points
-
”Yes, we all know that you play more than most, and that you are better than most both in 6s and in versus. It is known among everyone. But that's not really part of the discussion and makes one argument outweigh another. ” This is truly the issue in this discussion. 97% of the players here have no idea what is this NHL competive limit or how things works in highest tier. Even the gameplay that can be played is beyond their imagination, so why the hell it should be equal to nd’s insight for example. Atleast for elite, let the top teams decide whats best for comp. Rest can try to get better. You dont ask ants opinion about physics so why this would be any differ. Lmao. Already know this decision will be bad for the competive scene. Most players dont do anything with the space you get playing without trucu so its no issue to them. Trucu only benefits bad players ngl.6 points

Its useless to discuss here bc someones are trolling or dont even want to understand and other half have no clue how this game works5 points

I have little to no interest in actually engaging in this shouting match involving some copy&paste answers and some really well put together arguments, but I’ll just drop this extremely constructive piece here: Seems to me like some people are talking about how more goals = more entertainment = don’t ban scoring abilities but ban trucu. But oh wait, don’t actually ban stick em up because then we can’t poke check = defend = there will be a lot less goals than without it. Hm, how about that? Food for thought 🤔 Also on another note, I thought we as a society were kinda done with this uncritical american idolization some decades ago. If you want change, justify your point of view in a proper way. The language never has to be perfect, but if your message lacks substance & consistency…. To reiterate and put it simply in other words: ”NA does it, why don’t we” is not a standalone argument for anything. Substitute NA with whoever and my point remains. To quote an old idiom, if your friend jumped off a cliff, would you too? Have fun fighting, boys.5 points

I totally agree with @Miguli36, there is tons we could learn from lower divisions and their opinions are really valuable. Pretty much every team in Elite except for a few try to mimic the same style of play which is just straight up boring. From what I have read here most people are just looking for bans that serve their playstyle, thus that alone eliminates the idea of a vote. Is it really what’s best for the competetive aspect of the game or is it just people trying to get an advantage that serves their playstyle?5 points
-
I didnt understand how was my point wrong? I might be slow tho And I dont believe that banning abilities would make the skill gap bigger, I actually think that would do the opposite cuz people could just collapse infront of their net and not even worry about 1ts and so that would be bad for viewers and players (the game rewards active defence right now and not skill zoning which is pretty nice imo). I respect peoples opinions, but banning all abilities would not be good for the game. Im one of the most active players in the scene so I know what im talking about little bit + the game runs on a different game engine and I feel like the gameplay is build around certain abilities in EASHL.5 points

This. They definitely didn't put 90 in shooting. But the issue is kinda the fact that the top teams all play the same way and rely on having 94/95 speed on everyone 😅 Can't really blame them though, in the current meta I would never trade my 40 point speed attributes for 10-30 point shooting attributes. The gap between the values is F'd up... Most Elite players with their 75 shooting stats 😅4 points

Actually @KingOfApes_message kinda changed my mind and made me realize I mostly had a problem with the tone of the conversation. Well put arguments, thanks Ape! Actually agree with this, and starting to lean towards the vote since the stance atleast in Elite seems to be clear and I dont know any better than any of you do. My point was that the meta of the game won’t change if we don’t want it to change, and frankly the game is getting repetetive atleast in my humble opinion, and from what I have seen players are quitting the game quite often even on the highest level and I wonder if it is because the game is getting boring. On another note, has a vote like that been done before? I remember people demanding a vote at the start of this game, which they didn’t do. I made a poll on the draft server then, and the verdict was pretty clear. (Under)4 points

Should have been more clear, there are definetly players who are genuine and want the game to improve. Im just not sure anyone knows the best way to go about it. I think SG needs to make a decision based on these conversations, which is why we need to include EVERYONE and then we live with it.

In my opinion, the idea that top level players know what is best is flawed. Everyone’s approach to this discussion should be about what is best for SportGamer as a product. What would bring more players, followers, and viewers to the community/product, and what would engage existing players. Separating the top level from the rest is, in my view, the wrong approach. If the opinion of the majority does not align with that of the top level, the top level will lose its appeal, which is bad for SportGamer. After all, the money for top level rewards also comes from the masses.4 points
-
Can just somebody tell me why we dont listen best players? Or/and watch what NA does and do same…? Not too hard, just ban trucu, tipper and we get best game we can about playable and competitive4 points
-
Yeah, for me: either keep it as it is (only Big Tipper banned) or go with all abilities/traits banned, as SG currently seems to be doing. At least based on what has been confirmed in the World Cup, WECL and SCL, thus far. Arbitrarily banning 3-4 specific traits in order to create a specific play style preferred by specific players? That ain't it.4 points
-
Im looking this from a goalie perspective. I totally agree with beniitto about rewarding player from getting to good scoring position , but that also should apply goalies when they position them correctly 🤷 i want to ask also this " elite tournament with no xfactors tournament " , did you guys actually try applying the points to shooting and accuracy or hitting and strength so that they were close to 90 or above ? Because if the points really doesnt matter when shooting from the b-line or wristing from slot does nothing , then i agree not to ban all traits. U guys say that its almost impossible to score without traits ? So what was your stats when you guys played ?3 points
-
I mean that when each team has only 1 vote they have to discuss what is their mutual opinion, not just what everyone likes/dislikes. Also (I of course do not have real data) I think most of teams that would vote would base their vote on the overall picture of playing/watching the game, not just ”I can’t get past defender using trucu, lets ban trucu”😅 And when it comes to me, I don’t mind trucu eventhough I get hit with it. Overall, I don’t see banning/allowing trucu being a game breaker one way or the other. But when it comes to some traits like 1t allowing teams to score elsewhere than right in fron of the net I’d love to see that not being banned in order to keep variation in scoring. But that is just my opinion of how I see the thing3 points

Like i wrote earlier in this topic, imo truculence is not that op in this version. You are able to counter that with counter hit (at least silver trucu) and i have seen many people doing that lately so imo its not games fault if you are not using that to avoid those hits. And game meta has been for a long time like fast skaters so i dont know any high level player who is using golden trucu/big build (counter hit isnt working against golden trucu). Big tipper was too broken to be used and that was good like Sportsgamer banned that. If we are looking/hunting like really broken x-factors/traits then we should speak like stick em up (you can just spam pokecheck without that much penalties), golden 1T, golden CQ (goalies are not awarded that much about good positioning, shots are just going in). So many of these are much broken than truculence imo so those should be banned first. But there is always different views between dmans, forwards and goalies and thats why i hope like lets keep big tipper banned and others are allowed like last ECL3 points

^Agreed You should get rewarded for creating the best scoring chances and without certain abilities u just won't since the goalies are so bad in this game and the shooting mechanics are inconsistent (Bring back NHL 22 goalies). 1T especially in general makes the game more out wide/open ups the space more which makes the gameplay better in general. Nobody wants to see the same 5-man stack infront the net and see all the goals happen with-in the goalie crease. If we play with no traits just shooting wherever is gonna be the best bet and getting pressure that way would be the way to go Also to Sopuli, I think that u don't get the main idea of banning truculence since it just ruins the gameplay experience in competitive level which has been covered in this topic a long time ago. Also without stick em up u can't really poke check but without truculence u can still hit fairly well without problems. But these are just a few things to consider.3 points

i don't recall any one timer goals without the one tee ability in years and cq gives a shooting boost to almost any shot close to the net which of course would reward you for getting in to a scoring position in the first place, im not saying you cant score without abilities but with abilities you get rewarded more often for getting into good scoring positions and helps negate the crazy saves goalies make when out of position2 points
-
What kind of good scoring chances are being discussed that don't go in without traits? One-timers from a longer distance? As a lower-level Tapani myself, I experience many good scoring chances where these traits don't even activate, and the puck still goes in, even with bad shooting attributes.2 points

Sorry i dont speak london but..

We have always get best gameplay when we have done this (banned trucu and tipper) doesn’t really people not remember how much better and funnier game we was playing when truculence was banned2 points

It's not about prefering certain group of players. If we want to play the game the most competitive way possible then we just have to make those certain changes.2 points

Ban every ability except truculence. (y) But on a series note, keep it as is or ban them all.2 points

Make it snappy was as good as cq in NHL 23, but we didnt know it cuz people were used to using cq. Gameplay with more scoring is better right?2 points

I honestly do not see reasons to ban a specific set of abilities (except big tipper) - to me it's either the way it is right now, or everything banned (honestly the current gameplay isn't too bad, don't really care which way it goes). I do wanna hear some reasoning behind banning uf, no contest and truculence though. Uf and no contest are already super rare to see players use so that's a mystery for me why those would be banned. When it comes to truculence, I do see how it is annoying to play against but my question is why would truculence be banned while stick em up is literally used by everyone. Let's take Parasite as an example team: they have 5x stick em up & 1x truculence. So the best team in Europe thinks stick em up is basically 5x more useful than truculence but truculence is the one that's a problem?2 points
-
Strongly agree with this. Banning all traits would just make teams collapse more on defence and go for more forces and rebounds on offence, who wants to play or watch games like that?😅2 points

A little off topic but... It's kind of sad how in the current gameplay it doesn't make sense to sacrifice something like speed for shooting stats. If it was like 5 added points to shooting by losing 1 point in speed I think we would start seeing a lot more variation in builds being used. Like a lot of people have said, it's tough to score without shooting abilities... But that is only the case when people are running builds with like 70 shooting stats. In my experience you don't really need shooting abilities if you have 85+ in shooting categories - especially when skill-based one-timers activate! Sadly this scene is so boring that if abilities do get banned, I think most people will start using PMD builds on wingers etc. and won't even give a try to a sniper build with like 90 shooting.1 point

In my opinion, this has nothing to do with competitiveness. Competitiveness remains as long as everyone has the same options available. This is more about what kind of gameplay each person prefers. Banning only some abilities favors a specific playstyle and team tactics. It takes away depth from the game. I believe that banning all X-Factors and Superstar abilities adds more depth to the game. If you want to shine in a certain area with your character, you have to sacrifice points from another. You can't compensate your characters mediocre skills with special abilities. Without these special abilities, there is at least hope that we will start to see variations between player builds.1 point
