  1. 100% agree! If we want NHL as an e-sport to move forward we have to take new steps. 120 euro is basically nothing for a team with a minimum of 7 players imo. Hopefully all 16 teams feel the same way 💸

  3. This is a move that was obvious for future. Even not public info this was only logical direction if NHLGamer wants to push NHL as an eSport. There hasn't been an esport game that hasn't started with 3rd party money leagues (excluding Overwatch, because Blizzard). This will be just 1 step in a long journey forward. In my mind I can see NHLGamer offering both money leagues and free-to-play leagues, but as for the crown jewel, Elite, there is no other way than start bringing money as part of it, if we want keep pushing the skill and professionalism on NHL. Only time will show how successful all of this will become and if sponsors will start rolling in bigger numbers. And remember, all of this will support the site financially to grow and evolve. Interested to see where all of this will put us.

  5. Thanks for the feedback, @vatalisti! The plan for ECL 7 was shaped with the help of the ECL Elite teams and this is a bit of a compromise between the ideas shared by the captains. I agree it would be better too if everyone is in, but we'll have to see what the teams think about it. If everyone agrees, we can run it 16/16 for ECL 7. Why the semifinalists get money? The thought behind that is that perhaps not all teams believe they can win, but perhaps they believe in their chances of reaching the semifinals and earning their license cost back - thus we can involve more teams. Again, open for feedback, so keep it coming! He didn't comment on your comment.

  6. IMO it should be that either every team pays the elite fee, or no one sounds stupid that way. And why #3 and #4 gets money?

  7. If they find the right team that will play for them and support their brand,. You find most org do pay for online entry fee as it helps grows their brand awareness as most matches are streamed trough twitch that how mostly we built our following.

  8. The differences between let's say top 4 and bottom 4 is just too big and we couldn't really get a league going with buy-ins.
