  1. This is a monumental decision. In one of those "damned if they do, damned if they don't" situations for the admins, I think they came through for the good of the community in the long run. Teams and individual players need to plan their schedule around these games more if they are to participate. Some of them will never do that if they can fall back on extending deadlines whenever it's convenient for them. Consider any organized tournament of note in any other game. You can't take a rain check on your participation if you've already signed up. Either you get in the games when they start, or you get out. The default leeway for scheduling in the ECL is generous enough. If you can't work with that it's time to look in the mirror. And really, it does come down to planning ahead. There are people playing these leagues with plenty of obligations between work and family who still have a clean record in adhering to deadlines. With several days for rescheduling around the preset time, the fact that it can be done is proven by many over each of these long seasons. Sure, a team may encounter obstacles they had no possible way of planning for despite the backup players and the time given for rescheduling. That is highly unlikely but certainly possible. Even then, the rules need to be a constant which all teams can rely on, and walkover wins against a team with such exceptionally bad luck are offset by the vast majority of these cases in which the team could've done something differently. SKY are obviously one of the consistently best teams in the ECL. Their performance in the first round against DYN was possibly the most dominant between two top teams that I've seen, and they more than deserved to continue fighting for a place in the finals. No one in their right mind wants to see the semifinals decided this way. However, the league schedule needs to mean something. It needs to be worked with and not against. Ultimately, that is the clearest and fairest way for everyone involved, and that is why this needed to happen. League Admins, I applaud you.

  2. Well...I don't speak often but sometimes it's unbearable. Let me give you a fitting example. I played with Inter Iceland in the second round of the Pro Playoffs. We could not get our "main formation" set for three of the total six games played in this series. Actually two positions were filled with players who were not a part of the regular season whatsoever. - Did we try to prolong the affected games? No - Did we ask to play another time after starting off with two straight losses? No - was it the reason we lost the series? Probably not Of course this series does not get anywhere near the attention that Elite-Series get. But the rules are the same for Elite, Pro and Lite, aren't they? This is not supposed to be an offending reply. I just think that if you have the chance as a GM to get six players of your team to play, even when it's playoffs and not your best of six ... well just do it. Give some other Player on your team a chance. Winning isn't everything but wanting to win is

  3. Then fucking give him all the details?? How can they make a decision if you seemingly hold pertinent information from them, dear fucking jesus christ on a bike, for the love of god never go near a court-room. (Fade in) Interior: Court-room somewhere in Helsinki [F=Mr Kungen, J=Judge] ----- J: So is that everything? F: Yes J: Okay, well in that case I'm sentencing you to two years imprisonment for being useless. F: Ohhhh myyyyy godddddddddddd you dumb Judge.... why didn't you ask me this question? I would've told you this information that could've changed your outlook on this situation. J: Are you kidding me? F: No, stop being incompetent and do your job J: ???????????

  4. People can talk about respect for the league and respect for the game all they want, and how it is ridiculous that LA gives out WO’s at this stage in a ”competitive eSports league”, but respect for the league is a two-way street - you and me, as players, should respect the league enough to have the games played within the allocated time period.

  5. Oh well, ggs. I will start by saying that this wasn't in any way Flyerkungen's fault. Guy's getting all the shit thrown at him even though he was busting his ass off trying to get the games played. Did all he could and does not deserve any of this shit. (Martindale, eat shit) I arrived from my infamous trip to Miami on Saturday/Sunday night(was great!) and we were ready to play from Sunday onwards. Btw Johtajavirtanen took my spot on LW against Dynasty. So we missed two potential gamedays in semi-finals first week(Wednesday/Thursday) because come on, no one plays on weekends. TWO DAYS. Then we were available on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. At this point unfortunate scheduling things got into play as SJK:s goalies couldn't play before 22cet on couple nights and we had some workshift problems aswell. Everything was negotiated peacefully and both teams had zero problem on agreeing to play today. I understand that it is over the deadline and a punishable action on some situations. But seriously. In ECL semi-finals, when both teams have no problem with the situation and have ABSOLUTELY no desire for walkovers. This was clearly LA:s attempt to brush their soft imago, which is understandable and NEEDED to get people respect the rules. But in my personal opinion this was not the right circumstance to make that move. Yeah, I can take the blame on myself for missing 2 gamedays while sipping pina coladas. I thought we had appropriate amount of time left to finish the series which was 4 _potential_ gamedays. There's just always unfortunate surprises. I won't argue that this wasn't the right call according to the rulebook. I just believe that this was not the right call according to the circumstances. Good luck SJK

  8. Well, I think its a mystery that you scratch Floor and play yourself in the playoffs, but Im not counting your up-votes b/c of it. Perhaps you couldve barked at the wind or slapped your chest some more, who knows.... On topic: its pretty obvious that some people dont understand rules and why you have them. Isnt that a ”tell” that you’re: (1) really really stupid or (2) really really really really stupid?

  10. Back-up players? HAR5KI and Januri? First is just Harski who is pure fill player on your roster and Januri is in the army. Cut the bullshit and stop blaming others for your issues. JohtajaVirtanen played in playoffs but sometimes you need more than one guy, or more than 6 players, to play this god damn game. Get real boys.

  13. I believe everyone wants to see games played and not WOs. But I also believe majority of players wants the deadlines to hold and be respected.. even if WOs are required to achieve that. We learned from last year we need to finish the tournament before christmas and that's why there are deadlines. I have read all the messages here and based on that I think the problem in this case was that LA recieved the information about scheduling problem too late and they didn't recieve all the information about this case before their decision. And maybe teams scheduling games were too confident that they will get that extra day if needed. If LA would have been contacted earlier with all the important information about this case, maybe there would had been one extra day for semifinals to be played who knows. Too bad there had to be WOs. I would have wanted to see the games played. But I am also happy LA respected the deadline. Not easy decision to make for LA. Good luck to final teams and good luck to SKY for next season.

  14. LA show now right way at they control the things in this tournament. This is a good notice/sign in the future ECL tournaments too at LA can make difficult but right decisions.

  15. What is this shitstorm? Stop crying, i can understand the fact that this case has different opinions. You forced LA to make the call, live with it. Next time make sure you have enough players in your roster so you are capable of playing the games. Last thing you should do is to attack against LA, theyre here to enforce the rules, and its the shittiest "job" you can do here, but someone has to do it. If you want improvements to rules, do pass them on privately. You aint getting anything done better for next time by talking bullcrap.

  19. Good decision. There is rules what need to follow. If LA don't follow the rules why someone is writing the rules then?

  20. Sure, I get that some people were offended, but I dont understand why people that actually agree with the LA decision are. My post was directed towards the people that disagreed with the LA decision - and yes, maybe it was kinda harsh, but it's infuriating seeing so many posters stupitity and their reasons for disagreeing with LA. I'm sure that they (LA), just as me, have a real job and social life of their own, so when they invest their time and effort in this situation, created by two teams that cant use a computer or know what communication is, making the best out of the situation, they should'nt even have to defend their decision on the matter. I dont have a hard time calling out someone for what they are. If someones stupid, i'll call em stupid. If someone tries to suck it up to the involved teams by disagreeing with LA to get some likes, I call them out as well. I also know that I'm not perfect in any way, but know that if you try to get to me in some way, I have a couple of things to say myself. Also, I dont offense if guys like that "joystick (?)"-guy don't know who I am or not, I kinda made my own bed there by creating a team called "Unknown" where I even got Foppatofflan to change his gamertag so that none would know who we were (damn you Anton ^^) Psy

  21. Well sure i can. Pretty much everything you wrote after "Great job, LA." is a personal attack and extremely patronizing to anyone in here that doesnt share the opinion of the LA's verdict. Totally uncalled for. Also it's beyond me why you have to go and make it your mission and assault anyone that doesnt think like you. Many of us agree with the LA's thoughts/verdict in this case, myself included. But that doesnt give us the right to behave like douchebags to the ones that doesnt. I hope this helped share some light in the matter.

  23. Alright let's see: ---------------------------- (Calls people stupid for, well... being stupid. This is barely even negative.) ---------------------------- (Chimera stated how he thought it was a mystery Lain has like 13 'upvotes'. Lain retaliates back since you could construe Chimera's post as an attack.) ---------------------------- (So chimera tells him no one cares about his (Lain's) opinion. So Lain, again, retorts.) ---------------------------- (You come in and tell him to stop being so negative and to not post unless it's positive.) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- He called people "dumb". Oh won't someone please think of the children!?!?! Look, I get where you're coming from and I totally understand it. However I feel the need to state it again, atleast Lain has principles that he holds when making his views known. With half the people complaining about the LA decision, I would bet that if this scenario involved two different teams, their tune about how this is the worst decision ever and their feelings that the LA can't be trusted anymore would suddenly decrease to barely a mutter.

  24. Great job, LA. I'm not surprised that some people are angry and that some tries to friends with everybody by sucking it up to the teams involved - there's so many dumb people on this earth, some are bound to be on this site as well. Edit: Actually, this is a great way of sorting out the people with some brains and the people who're stupid as **** on this site. Jej!

  25. Yes, yes. But we (SKY) saw that case like either team can't get WOs. At the end, available days from both teams were kinda fifty-fifty. As I wrote on previous pages. I don't see any good reason why SJK got WOs, but we didn't want those either so... What ever. Lets move on...

  26. Try that argument with your boss at work There is a reason why there are rules. The reason is that logic and rational reasons are subjective and therefore will always inspire a feeling of uncertainty and unequality. Rules are simple and easy to understand...for most people.

  27. Obviously I'm very sad about this result. It would have felt way more better to try to reach finals by yourself, not by staff decision. Both teams agreed to play today, if we get permission from staff. They didn't gave it for us and it feels very bad and kinda wrong in this situation, but I also understand it. If they would have given us permission, every team in the future would have used this as an example to get extra time. I'm glad I didn't have to make this decision. Staffs would have received hate anyway, whatever they would have decided. What an ungrateful job to have right now. In the end I feel really bad for SKY, I know how big thing this is for them and how much they have trained.

  28. You fucking.... Their job isn't to ask you questions, you go in, say what you need to say and let them deliberate on their decision. How did you 'think' this worked, some sort of back and forth series of messages? No one has time for that shit, get in, say what you need to say and get out. "But you dont understand, its not surprise at all. " Oh dear child, I believe it's you that doesn't understand Nah bro, they didn't ask so he didn't say. Incompetent LA, incompetent I say!

  32. Giving out WOs in Elite Semi-finals is a true tragedy for the league. Much shame to both teams that they could not reach an agreement to play all games in time, and forced LA:s hand. Giving extra time has been a focus of much criticism in earlier tournaments - and it seems popular demand made it self heard in the end. I hope every team takes note from this and recruit bigger rosters for coming seasons, beyond the 8 man MINIMUM requirement. That is my take on it.

  33. "FINALS FRAMEWORK The finals must be finished within 7 days starting today, thus the last day to play the games is December 12." Seems a little bit weird to me that December 12 is the last date to play this series.... Since we in Aapon found out about the final decision only thirty minutes ago! We lose one game day because of the late announcement (Yes i do understand that you guys had to find out all the info why the games between SJK - Sky weren't completed, that's not my concern) And Sky - SJK is playing tonight also. I think it would be more fair to set the final day to playtime games to December 13.

  34. Why is the comment section below the actual ruling the first time we hear from you about someone being in hospital? If there's a lot more that isn't told in this post, then it wasn't brought to our attention in the first place.

  35. There's a huge list for that, having sane captains for one. Read silenttio's post In fact, fuck that. Written has 9 players on their roster, one went to miami and one got a fever. What's 9-2=? Oh right, 7. Now is 7 = 6 or above? Yes. In which case, stop fucking around and play.

  36. This probaly wasn't easy call to make and it's never fun handing walkovers in the playoff stage, but I think it had to be done to ensure teams will stick to schedules in the future.
