In case of bankcrupty, the only way players who are entitled to prize pool money will get what Sports Gamer Oy ows them if they are biggest recievers in bankcrupt situation. But if there is lenders that Sports Gamer Oy ows more then they are the priority in case of bankcrupty. But most important from Sports Gamer Oy is honesty to players what really has happened. And also it is priority to publish financial statements to PRH from 2023-2024. If they are not published who will believe what Sports Gamer Oy executives say? No one. I won´t believe a word what they say until I see those documents myself. I am not one of those who Sports Gamer Oy ows any money. I am just on side of those players who Sports Gamer Oy ows money. I want justice to happen and players recieving their money. And if it is not possible in case of bankcrupty, I want at least full, honest reveal of Sports Gamer Oy on this matter. It is not very good policy them not to publish financial statements from 2023-2024 and then it is revealed that some players that are entitled to their prize money have not got those money what they deserve. So I am urging: All the facts and figures public from Sports Gamer Oy finances. That is the only way they can get our trust back. People - including Kenu - have done great over the years in this community organizing ECL, FCL etc. I hate to see this financial dishonesty will loose our trust to these fine people. Thanks Sportsgamer for coming out with some sort of gloss over explanation of what is going on. The big question now is: What about the upcoming season(s)? It is pretty obvious that the money owed in the playerbase needs to be paid back for those who want it, before the next season starts and more money is asked to be paid up for the company, because from now on people will invest their money with 100% risk of never winning anything back from the prize pool. If the company goes bankruptcy, people will never see their money and have no legal ways to demand it to be paid back. Unfortunately the "community dream" is becoming the end company. However the majority of the community never wanted or dreamed about massive prize pools or esports lifestyle, we just want to play competitive but not too serious hockey with friends and have fun! Now this part of the community is becoming the backbone of saving the company which is absolutely wrong. After all this I firmly believe that most of the community is ready to help with some sort of resurrection when it all goes down. However this requires pure honesty and open planning with the whole community. What ever the scenario is, money is needed to be paid back to someone and with small fees and time, there should be a way to go back to the glory days of NHLGamer. For Kenu I want to say, I hope you are doing well and remember there is better days ahead.

They are at the moment but one day they will be removed from there. There is thousands of companies in that register. PRH removes regularly some of them who have not sent those documents. But however, the reason Sports Gamer Oy have not sent financial statements to PRH has most likely something to do that they have not paid these prize moneys. The company who operates correctly sends financial statements to PRH. If they are not sent something is wrong with accounting and operations of the company. Simple as that.

They have not sent financial reports to PRH. That is why they are not there. You can´t request those from PRH on Sports Gamer Oy financial reports 2023-2024 because they are not sent there. That is really serious offence according to Finnish limited company law. Those documents must be available to everyone who wish to have them. In PRH there is available only documents from 2021 and 2022 but not others. It is simple as that. They are not requiered to provide financial documents only to investors and lenders. They should be public to everyone who is interested to have them. That is the fact. I am working in accounting and know this law of accounting and limited companies etc.

What rule are they actually breaking? Have you requested their financial statements from PRH? I’ve reviewed the stakeholder (beneficiary) list myself, and anyone can verify the details through the proper channels — including financial reports up to the end of 2022. Legally, they’re only required to provide these documents to potential lenders or investors to secure funding. As customers or participants, it’s up to each of us to decide whether we want to continue supporting this league. If they violate these obligations, they can be removed from the Trade Register and EPR immediately until they comply. As of now, they are listed in both.

According to the limited company law every limited company should have shareholder list and it should be available to anyone if requested. In Finland operating limited company is (should be) visible so there are many regulations these companies must obey. Shareholder list is one of them and also publishing the finacial statement annually to PRH for available to everyone who are interested in it. Sports Gamer Oy is breaking now at least one regulation which is that the financial statements are not public for past two years.

You can download kaupparekisteriote from https://virre.prh.fi/novus/home?execution=e1s2 the same place where supposed to be company´s financial statements available too. From kaupparekisteriote you can see all the members of the board and CEO´s name (if company has CEO, small companies don´t need one according to regulations). Those members of the board and CEO are necessarily not the same who are shareholders of the company but usually in small businesses they are the same. But as a member of the board and CEO you don´t have to own any shares to be there. I must say that I agree that this Sportsgamer issue is real suspicious now especially when there are no 2023-2024 financial reports available in public. I also not blame Kenu who has done great job in Sportsgamer throughout years. Problem is elsewhere. The general operation of Sports Gamer Oy is suspicious and needs to be revealed throughly.

I don’t speak a word of Finnish, but it looks like you can take out a loan if you click that link. Maybe that’s exactly what the company running this site should do, so the players still waiting for their money can finally get paid.

Feels like some people think that this negative feedback is useless and that we are complaining unnecessarily here. First of all, Kenu has done an amazing job and really helped our community. Without Kenu, we would never have had such wonderful tournaments. The real issue isnt with Kenu at all, it’s with the company leaders who need to step up and take responsibility of this situation. Who are these people who run the company? Are they gamers in this community or complete strangers who just bought Sportsgamer? I was trying to search information about these guys, i cant deny that now i feel even more suspicious.

Good points @Virtual_Saku It is not as simple as it might look. But I think the full reveal of where the money has gone should be done by Sportsgamer owners and those in charge of accounting. And those players entitled to their prize money should get them. And because limited companies - like Sportsgamer is - should send their financial statements every financial year to PRH as a public documents. Sportsgamer has not done that in terms of financial years 2023 and 2024. Those financial statements should have been public ages ago: 2023 public during year 2024 and last years statement earlier this year. This is serious matter. Sportsgamer should send those reports to PRH immediately. That is regulation in Finnish limited company law. I hope all this will clear out in satisfactory way. But however, this has already damaged seriously trust how things are handled here by the owners of Sportsgamer.

Good morning everyone, Some of you know me as a former writer and member of the ECL board. You may accuse me of bias, but I hope you’ll also understand that my approach is to say that we are, to some extent, all complicit. I’ve tried to read everyone’s replies to the original message, which raises questions we have indeed been asking ourselves for quite some time. I salute the research and calculations that have been done (greetings to Swamp), just as I salute the messages that seek to understand before condemning. It is indeed necessary to ask SportsGamer and its shareholders to present the accounts and explain what the investment strategy has been and how revenues have been allocated. In fact, the greatest fault we can impute to SportsGamer is failing to uphold its commercial commitments to its users. The rules of the competition have been flouted, therefore the competition itself has been flouted. Anger about the cash prizes is legitimate and irrevocable. Facts are facts. But since the French can sometimes be some pain in the ......., allow me to take on that role. I note that teams and players have not received the cash prizes promised from previous editions that were owed to them. Despite this serious breach of a prior regulatory agreement, these same people chose to keep taking part on the next editions. Why? Naivety? Indifference? Solidarity?....... The lure of gain? It seems that rumors try to show that some players play the ECL in exchange for financial considerations. I have personnaly nothing against that, but it goes against a fundamental economic logic: the e-hockey business doesn’t exist. Did you guys were really surprised when real-life pro teams withdrew their aagreement for esports teams to use their actual brand? Did they see any signals pointing to the lack of an audience and, therefore, to the limited, if not non-existent, incentive to invest effort in a dead-end marketing path? Covid was both the best and the worst thing that happened to esports. It temporarily accelerated esports. Audiences turned to Twitch in the absence of alternatives. Yet this rise was artificial. It fostered a speculative bubble that, regrettably, incentivized naive and avaricious behavior. Then the speculative bubble was born and misled everyone: SportsGamer’s leaders and its users. Well even Formula 1 esport audience is unexisting and we still think ehockey can be a business? Can generate incomes? Can generate pro players payed to play ECL Elite or Pro? And finally, let’s not forget the vast majority of players who come here to play the best 6v6 tournament in the world, the most structured, the most enduring, and the most competitive. Those guys don’t care about cash prizes. Many, like me, knew NHL Gamer in its earlier form, and the way it worked back then suited us just fine. Some teams show up simply for the pleasure of taking part, with no real ambition of winning the tournament (especially when they’re on the central server). I don’t necessarily want SG centralized streams, I don’t necessarily want social platforms, and I don’t want cash prizes either... I just want to play with my friends and have fun. Nothing more. But a promise is a promise, and the announced amounts are owed to the teams and players. This is the very basis of the original deal: pay an entry fee and compete to win cash prizes. SG must settle all amounts owed in full. So… SportsGamer must present its accounts: yes (it seems to be proven that the VAT argument is shaky). SportsGamer must honor its legal commitments: yes (I am, as chairman of an ECL Pro team, among those to whom funds are owed as creditors of SG). Those who dreamed of a life as professional e-hockey players are guilty of their own vanity. This doesn't remove responsibility from SG’s front office and shareholders, for the current situation, but it perhaps distributes the blame somewhat more evenly. As you know, registration starts very soon, followed by the championship for the new ECL season. Like any other player, I must purchase a player's license to participate and play. However, I live in a country that has been subject to a number of sanctions, including the transfer of currency to European banks. I don't have any cryptocurrency—indeed, I don't even understand what it is or how to do anything with it. This is something new and confusing for me. For the first time in almost two years, I've been invited to play on a team. And I love everything there. I really want to experience the excitement of playing in the ECL Championship again. I don't have any old friends living in Europe, so I don't know how to pay for my participation. Please help me with advice on how to do this. I really want to play. Adorable reply. The popcorn line was cute, it really drives home the point that you’re here for entertainment, not understanding. You keep painting this picture where the only two options are Kenu living in a mansion or everyone needs to shut up and be grateful. Reality sits somewhere in between. No one is accusing anyone of hiding money under a mattress in Espoo. The issue is that players paid for something, didn’t receive what was promised, and are being met with condescending lectures instead of accountability. And since you brought up Einstein, he didn’t leave the building. He probably just got tired of explaining basic logic to people who mistake loyalty for intelligence.

The ITHL league is interesting, even though I've often been in conflict with them because personally they've been a pain in the ass with the number of games you have to play each week, otherwise you're disqualified... which happened when I was on vacation, etc. But I respect them because they have a very small website and they do what they can. And they've always managed to get by, but the rules are sometimes a little more lenient than those of Sportgamer... If Sportgamer were to disappear, which would be unfortunate, there are other options, but it would be sad if that were to happen.

Appreciate the civil tone, finally a reply that doesn’t sound like it was typed mid meltdown. But let’s be honest. If a company continuously takes money from players, promises prize pools, and then fails to deliver year after year, that’s not bad business. That’s business gone bad. You can wrap it in fancy terms like cashflow issues or unlucky timing, but at the end of the day, people paid for a product and didn’t get what they were promised. If a company can’t handle that responsibility, it shouldn’t be selling licenses or hosting tournaments. And please, spare the government tax increase sob story. We’re not talking about a bakery that couldn’t afford flour, we’re talking about an organization that has pocketed tens of thousands of euros from a paying player base, then gone silent when it’s time to pay out. So yes, you might have a BBA, and that’s great. But you don’t need a degree in international business to recognize when the books don’t balance. You just need a bit of common sense and a moral compass that points somewhere other than excuse management.

Yeah SG hasn’t been transparent and yeah players should have received their payments on time but it still isn’t a scam, it’s just bad business. I am sure if Kenu or someone else at SG had landed a big ass sponsorship deal or two for this year’s ECLs we wouldn’t even be discussing in this thread - they have tried almost everything to find the cashflow because that’s what small business owners do. You make a business plan for a fiscal year with a certain budget and then the goverment slaps you with a 2.5x VAT increase while you’re struggling to close sponsorship deals. If the only cash reserve you had at that point was external funding, how likely is it that you’re gonna get more after such events? P.S. I’m not a self-proclaimed business expert, just a marketing consultant with a BBA degree in international business.
