POGGERS are ECL ’26: Winter – Pro Champions after steamrolling the playoffs The ECL ’26: Winter season in the Pro division is over — and POGGERS are champions. In a Finals series that had real weight behind it, POGGERS defeated Unique 4–1, finishing the job with the kind of cold-blooded efficiency that only a veteran group can deliver. What makes this title even more impressive is how the season started. POGGERS dropped points early and looked anything but unstoppable for stretches of the group stage. But like elite teams tend to do, they corrected course, stabilized their game, and still finished the group stage in a solid position — enough to get in, because in this league, making playoffs is everything. Once the postseason starts, the slate is clean. And once the slate was clean, POGGERS looked like POGGERS again. From last season’s disappointment to a completely different playoff identity There’s also a very real narrative here: last season, POGGERS weren’t a factor when it mattered. They entered as the #7 seed and got bounced immediately — swept in Round 1 by Almost Famous. This Winter? Different mindset, different edge, different outcome. Instead of being the experienced team that “should” win but doesn’t, they became the experienced team that turns every important moment into their comfort zone. The numbers: Playoff scoring leaders (POGGERS) JaKurrii — 20 GP, 43P (21G, 22A), 4 GWG, 43.8% S% Ghettomasi — 20 GP, 41P (20G, 21A), 6 GWG Migo_boona — 20 GP, 35P (5G, 30A) meidanmatti — 20 GP, 30P (13G, 17A) Julius97_ — 20 GP, 24P (7G, 17A) Hullued: the safety (in) net that wins titles 20 GP, 16–2–2 87.46 SV%, 2.05 GAA 2 shutouts And when POGGERS needed shutdown goaltending — especially in the big moments — Hullued delivered. POGGERS’ road to the championship Round 1: POGGERS (6) 4–0 NOSTREETSPORTS (3) Quarterfinals: POGGERS (13) 4–3 Puck Over Glass (1) Semifinals: POGGERS (13) 4–0 Finnish Roosters (2) Finals: POGGERS (13) 4–1 Unique (9) ECL ’26: Winter – Pro Champions roster (POGGERS) Skaters @JaKurrii (J. The game is made to be played with x-factors and there are certain animations that only activates with x-factors (like wrist shots), that are in my opinion even more important then the perks themself. Playing without perks feels actually well balanced and you cant win games by only spamming backhand beauties, but I have to be afraid that it will affect too much to the style of play. It can make game even more dependent about fast breaks and broken play situations then it is already. Just waiting in front of your goalie and making it impossible to pass to middle is going to be pretty common playstyle then. Of course good players find a way and skill cap still matters. But does it make playing more boring in long sight? For me I would like to find something in between, like only using golden x-factors. I think they dont affect and boost too much to the players stats but still gives you the animations to shooting or poke checking! In my opinion it would kinda give the best out of both sides of the table. No advantige for only relying on x-factors.

ECL ’26: Spring - Ability Bans
Bantubox replied to imosi's topic in European Championship League - PS5 & Xbox Series X|S(6v6)
Ban them all. If you want a great one timer, just put your points into it. It makes no sense that you have 75 slapshot power but can launch blazing onetimers with the perks. -
That DM to all participating teams from ECL winter could work too and everyone is able to give their votes inside of teams too because there can be different thoughts between own team players. So votes are going to be calculated from every player, not as a team. Good idea for option @iSvamp 👍🏻 Most important thing is that like whatever the decision is in the end, rules and bans are same in every division

And that was the point. Tell us what the plan is and lock it in. Or base it on a democratic decision based on what the players want. That is the best option. Skip a poll. Send a DM to all participating teams from ECL Winter and let the captains collect votes from their teams without pressure from intimidating top players. And let a democratic decision remain a democratic decision. -

Yeah there has read: "As we said in the original news story, the plan is to move away from Abilities for the Spring season, as that seems to be what the majority is asking for" but no one have said earlier like "next ECL Spring season is going to be played without abilities. So there hasnt been clear information about that yet. There can always be plans but there hasnt been any 100% confirmation about that. And like we have now seen there is people who have changed their minds about banning all because they have had time to test and see things. And i havent seen any kind of voting polls up there so who is that majority who is asking that? In these conversations there has been mainly same guys writing their opinions but that still really small part from whole community who are playing active this game and sportsgamer tournaments. And once again we are coming to that part where i personally know like many of players are afraid to take part to these conversations because there is so much offensive and toxic behaviour if you are having different opinion than some of higher division players. So imo public voting poll is only right way to solve this so we are able to get as much people as possible to take part this if we are aiming for that "majority" of people. Now that "majority" is small part from conversations or behind the scene talks. At least it feels like that.

ECL ’26: Spring - Ability Bans

The important thing is probably what Furyan wrote above. In this thread, Kenu says that it is likely a full ability ban for the upcoming season. Like Furyan wrote, we need a confirmation on this as soon as possible. Or a decision in another direction, as long as the decision is finalized so people can start practicing the right way. But as it looks right now, the latest information should be understood as ECL Spring being played completely without abilities. -

If you ban all abilities ALL OF THEM, the game play is more realistic and fair, shouldnt rely on abilities to play. Then no one can blame situations that happen in a game, it’s all fair and down to pure players/goalie ability to be able to play the game with out perks -

Not many time i write, but agree the most, should ban elites and play with blue and gold perks! -
We need to do ban decisions based on things what are breaking the game, not that way like lets ban PWF, DFD, ENF etc because someones wanna play PMD and that cant match with power etc. With that kind of move we should banned PMD:s from previous games from everyone because other people were forced to use that PMD in defence just because that was only way to match with speed of forwards. You wasnt able to play like TWD or DFD. I have played with two way defenceman in this version lately and that build is able to match with physical plays against PWD:s

After review, im down to join the ''ban them all'' side However, if we decide to ban them all, IN MY OPINION we need to ban PWF, DFD and ENF etc. Because as a defender who use the PMD, you need to counter the PWF with stick em up (you can ofc counter with better positioning too, but it's a lot harder overall as a PMD), the physical plays are already in favour of the PWF, and as a player i shouldn't be forced to use the DFD just to stand a chance in my own zone. So in my opinion we should keep the current bans where forwards can't use PMD on the wings, but we should add PWF and ENF to that list, and DFD ENF for the defenders. If you don't agree, i would like to hear your opinions regarding this 🙏 -

You make an excellent point here, but the problem is that they should have banned them all from the beginning, not in the middle of the release or during tournaments. I do agree that at some point we have to make a decision, but the best timing would be before the new release so we already know there won’t be abilities when the game launches and that it stays that way. I believe EA will not get rid of the abilities anytime soon (ever), as they make money from them. I’d also like to comment on the statement that “bans would not be based on the opinion of the loudest people in the community.” It’s not about who happens to speak up; it’s important that everyone who has an opinion feels encouraged to share it so all viewpoints can be heard. That was the whole reason I started this conversation. SportsGamer should make some decisions or conduct a poll as soon as possible so people have time to adjust. -
